Playoffs? Playoffs?? The Playoff Chances Thread

Recommended Posts

There's pretty much no way that we DON'T make the playoffs. The Ravens will win out and take the 5th seed. The Titans will lose out and finish 8-8, and the Chargers will probably lose one of their next two games. All we have to do is beat the Dolphins, which should be pretty easy, to make it in.

ESPN's playoff machine indicates that if Tennessee loses out, Ravens win out, the Bills win one/lose one, and the Chargers win out, the Chargers will beat us out for the 6 seed :(

UNLESS the Chiefs  also lose out, which seems unlikely

Logically speaking, this is what most likely unfold's:

Bills beat Miami, lose to NE

Tennessee 1-1 is last 2, probably loses to Rams, beats Jax, as Jax may not need week 17.

We get in.  I doubt that Baltimore is 1-1 in last 2, most likely 2-0.

Playoffs are quite a legitimate possibility for the Bills.  We need to take care of business in Miami.

Jax has to beat the Titans in that scenario

Just saying. Glad we squished the Phish and glad we have hope in the middle of December. But that being said, I try to keep an even keel because of the fates we have suffered before.

All good and all, but dude you just rehashed unwanted memories i tried to keep in a small dark remote corner of my noggin lol.

My biggest worry is the Jags won't have anything to play for week 17. Rest starters. Titans sneak away with a win.

Well, one thing is for sure......outside of the Titans, the Bills have the toughest schedule left of teams in the playoff picture.

I think if any team MAY get tripped up it could be the Chargers, coming cross country on Christmas Eve day, in the cold, to play the Jets. The Jets haven’t given up.

Not trying to be the voice of negativity here, but we have seen this song and dance before. Pittsburgh's 2nd and 3rd string.

I am proud of this team though for the heart they show.

That Steelers team was stacked. Their backups would have started for many, many teams. That was not a team of scrubs they trotted out there.

With the Titians loss the Bills now control their own playoff destiny. (Let that sink in) with Two weeks left in the season.

They win twice and they are in no matter what else happens across the league.

New York Times playoff machine disagrees.  If Bills win next two, they need ONE of the following to happen:

Week 16

Colts over Ravens

Rams over Titans

Jags over 49ers

Week 17

Bengals over Ravens

Jags over Titans

in other words, If Ravens or Titans lose or Jags win one.

Hmm......why?

Depends on scenario

But if bills ravens jags and titans finish 10-6

  • 3rd Seed - Kansas City
    AFC West Champ
Wins tie break over Tennessee based on best win percentage in common games.
  • 4th Seed - Tennessee
AFC South Champ (Wins tie break over Jacksonville based on head-to-head win percentage.)
  • 5th Seed - Jacksonville
Wins tie break over Buffalo and Baltimore based on best win percentage in conference games.
  • 6th Seed - Baltimore
Wins tie break over Buffalo based on best win percentage in common games.

People keep saying that if the Titans lose out and Buf wins 1 more that Buf is in. After playing around with the ESPN playoff machine I noticed that this is not the case.

Buffalo will also need for the Chargers to lose at least one more as well. If the Chargers win there two remaining games, Buf wins one more and the Titans lose out Buf gets beat out by the Chargers for the 6th seed.

If the the Titans win next week and lose to the Jags to finish 9-7 and the Chargers and Bills also get to 9-7 somehow Buf Gets in.

Chargers loss is going to haunt us unfortunately.
