All Signs Pointing Toward Cordy Glenn as the Starter at LT

Recommended Posts

@MatthewFairburn

Cordy Glenn in huddle with the Bills first-team offense as media was escorted out of practice. Worked with starters in positional drills.

@JoeBuscaglia

In the reps I saw at practice, Cordy Glenn was lined up at left tackle next to Richie Incognito. Jordan Mills at right tackle. Ducasse at RG

@ChrisBrownBills

Practice update: Clay, Humber won't practice; Matthews, Gaines, Johnson - limited; Glenn a full participant. #Bills

Ugh get Ducasse off the field, he was horrible last game.

Just remember the preseason when they had Sammy Watkins catch all of those passes at the beginning of preseason right before they traded him. They highlighted him before they made a move.

Anyone else not possibly thinking that they are doing it again with Glenn? He plays a full game, he looks healthy to other teams, he has good production in his career and then the Bills move him.

It is especially in my mind after McDermott said we have 5 quality OTs and we'll see what happens with that in the upcoming weeks.

I'd roll with Dawkins at RG or RT. Just because he had one bad game at LT doesn't mean he is a bad OT. If I was making the call I'd start him at RT and roll with it. He can't possibly be worse than Mills.

Quite possibly the scenario. Seattle may be particularly motivated to bolster their OL now with LG Luke Joeckel going down.

someone is getting traded. I would be shocked if no OL is traded before the deadline if not both a OT and a OG.

Most likely John Miller IMO. The offer would have to be pretty sweet to move Glenn.

I still think I would move Dawkins to RG.

Trading the team's best OT makes no sense to me from either a player personnel or financial perspective.

@spotrac

Trading OT Cordy Glenn would leave behind approx. $8.9M in dead cap to the #Bills in 2017, & another $9.6M in 2018.

Makes very little sense to trade him unless they know something about Glenn's health that we are not privy to.

Interesting development, guess Glenn isn't getting traded then.

Why on earth are Ducasse and Mills still in the starting lineup though? If Dawkins was good enough to play LT why not try him on the right side?

I would guess they eventually will try Dawkins on the right side, but right now he is the backup LT / sometimes starting LT and they want to make sure Glenn is fully healthy and capable of going a full game. I would imagine Dawkins will rotate in some series for Glenn as he works his way back to game shape...and then after Glenn is healthy/in game shape they could try Dawkins out on the right side.

It is the approach they have had to use all off season/season with the LT situation. Let Dawkins get comfortable there because he is needed there. When he is no longer needed (bc Glenn is healthy and in shape) they can see what he can do on the right side. Didn't want to overload the rookie with both spots.
