The loss of Charles Clay hurts the offense tremendously Great summary. Again, if the goal was to make the playoffs this year, we wont have traded Sammy. But it is what it is. I challenge you OP to go look up stats of the games best WR's over the last 15 years. Look up their rookie season game stats. I bet you will see some pretty pedestrian numbers. Just a hunch. Stay where you're at, take the best player, take as many players as you can. Rinse and repeat. Trading up for a receiver with no elite traits because of his college production at a small school was a horrible choice.I'm certainly not ready to write off ZJ, but I agree with this. It was very disappointing to see the Bills give away picks to trade up twice in the second round, especially after trading back in the first. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. Most rookie WR's take time to develop, even most 1st rounders. This is why I maintain that even with a healthy Jordan Matthews this team needs to make a move for another proven veteran option if they have serious playoff aspirations this season. The trouble is currently between the ears. I hope he snaps out of it soon. Mhmm He had very few drops in college despite the number of balls thrown at him..I think he dropped 6 his senior year. Rookie jitters, confidence, whatever, it happens, and sometimes to some very good players. I remember Jordy Nelson dropping some balls his rookie year, And his hands were as good as any coming out of college. transient Posted October 14, 2017 Share Posted October 14, 2017 He's a rookie... Eric Moulds was pretty awful his 1st 2 seasons too and he turned out OK... Marv Levy never used to let rookies play much... He always said that "the best thing about rookies is after their 1st season they become vets"... Give the kid time to adjust to the pro game... Marv Levy's success also came mostly before the era of free agency when you had the luxury of developing players without fear of losing them. I wasnt expecting Zay to light it up. To me, the run game as a whole has been the biggest disappointment hands down. Since the Jets game Shady is averaging yards per carry in the 2's. No touchdowns. Do you agree, i think they are terrible, Leo just keeps rambling on in monotone and Sal interrupts to keep trying to say he already said in the past what Leo is trying to say now.. The run game is a disaster because defenses have, rightfully so, next to zero respect for our WRs, now that clay is out, zero respect for the TEs as well. Just a hunch. ....I believe so bud.....a kid coming off a 160 reception season and not known for drops is getting a rough indoctrination into the NFL world, a whole different ball game versus ECU and its competition......he is playing mind games IMO....a couple of drops equate to apocalyptic failures between his ears...... dial up Andre Reed Sports Psychology tutelage to get this lad's head screwed back on....can't think of anyone better as far as guidance..... The loss of Charles Clay hurts the offense tremendously To be fair, the offense with Clay was only marginally better. Tyrod can't do anything and LeSean is averaging less than 3.5 per carry.
