You never trade a dollar for 4 quarters in sports. That's what the Bills did. You don't trade Paul George for Victor Oladipo & Damontas Sabonis. You build around the elite talents. That's what every winning team does. They all have stars. That's the case in every sport. Sammy and Shady could have been one of the best duos in the league.

I don't consider Sammy to be elite. He is an elite deep ball specialist, he tracks those as well as anyone. But is not an elite receiver. He will never catch a ball short of the sticks and fight his way for a 1st down. When he catches the ball in space, he will never accelerate fast enough to escape the tackle from behind. I can't remember him breaking a single tackle actually. To be elite you have to do more with the ball in your hands. IMO

FWIW, I know I've been a little ornery this offseason but I have been right an awful lot so far. That's not always the case but most of what I have said or believed has come true.

Not quite sure what you mean, but 2 games and part of 3rd awful early to call anything

Woods was injured in each of the last two seasons.

Woods played in 89% of possible games as a Bill.

Watkins played in 77% of possible games as a BIll.

And in the last two seasons that you picked out ... Woods played in 84% of them. Watkins played 65% of them.

So what's the point you're trying to make?

It was the wrong call, and the numbers say it's not close. And it will probably come back to bite the Rams. They could have put the game away, or at worst, back the 49ers up to their own 1 yard line down by 11. It was a complete fail by a coach who should know better.

If Hoyer and the 49ers put up 30 points on the Rams, you deserve to lose no matter what. I still say it was the right call. At that point he just wanted to keep the offensive momentum going, i think they've scored points on all drives but 1.

Then you must not remember Watkins. He was the most complete receiver to come out since Julio. His game has no holes. That's why he was the top player in a 2 year span on MANY teams draft boards. He runs precise routes, great hands, tracks the ball, elite speed, annhilates single coverage and has great field awareness. He doesn't dive for the marker because he runs his routes at the right depth. If he has ANY holes they are personality related apparently.

That 77% is not truly indicative of how much time he really missed, b/c he played in games where his foot was clearly an issue and it completely diminished him as a player.
