Â For comparison, my seats for the first WC at RWS cost $10. (They were lower bowl obstructed. My buddy and I walked to the upper deck and saw everything.) They saw what they needed from him against Canada on the first game, and wanted to evaluate other players...is my understanding. He already earned his spot on the juniors roster. If that good to play immediately in the NHL, will want to burn that 3-year ELC as fast as possible I woud think while getting paid the $850K max. Â But then again, he would do that anyway even he went straight to the AHL, just get paid $70K i think. Just looked at the ELC rules..if you sign your ELC, and you are 18 or 19 by September 15th, your ELC can "slide" for those two years..the infamous 9 game rule . So back to juniors and I am guessing the $70K minimum and not eating into the 3 year ELC. Â His birthday is November 22nd, so he may want to not sign till after sophomore year unless he is guaranteed to be on the Sabres. At least that'show i read it. ELCs for players like Mittlestadt will work like this: Â 1. Maximum Salary: $925K 2. Maximum Signing Bonus: $92.5k 3. Maximum "Schedule A" Performance Bonus (Top Six on the team in ice time, +/- rating, goals, etc): $850K 4. Maximum "Schedule B" Performance Bonus (NHL Awards, Finishing in the Top 10 in specific categories, etc.): $2,000,000.00 Â So theoretically a player on an ELC can make $3,775,000.00 Â It is a distinct possibility that Mittlestadt could join the Sabres towards the end of the season if they make the playoffs this year but I think it's more likely that it happens for a playoff run NEXT season. I think he has the lower body to compete in the NHL right now but he definitely needs to add 15-20 pounds of solid muscle mass up top. He'd get slaughtered on the walls in the NHL and wouldn't be able to regularly get to the dirty areas around the net. It's no secret that NHL owners like TP will pay for production. There's a reason we're trying to lock up Jack long term after only two seasons on his ELC - the price is likely only going to go up. We also have the luxury of time and depth. I could see if we needed power play help he might get a call, but with the number 1 pp he can wait and get better before he is really needed.
