A SURE sign he has nothing to offer in terms of collusion or obstruction.

If he had something like that, it would drop/leak before.

Instead, he'll deliver his findings after the midterm... as expected. And then the fun begins.

I'm ok with dropping it after the midterm. No matter what his findings are, half the country is going to scream for his head for 'tainting' the election, were he to drop it as an October surprise.

Agree completely. I'm not advocating it, just stating the reality we live in. There are elements of both parties fighting for their lives that are banking on Mueller's probe saving their assess (politically speaking and legally speaking). If Mueller's probe had produced any bullets, you know that someone would find a way to leak it as an October Surprise.

Limbaugh opining that Mueller is waiting til after the election to see if the dems take control, then he could keep going with the investigation ad infinitum.

Since he doesn't have anything at all of substance

Very possible if Mueller isn't doing what I think he is (which, I admit is not a mainstream view and I'm open to being wrong about).

Really? I heard through a reliable confidential source that he may have possibly been involved in looking at a woman in a manner which made her uncomfortable 25 years ago at an unspecificed date, time, and location.

Why do you support rapists?

The SAR leak has layers and layers to it... not only did she have financial files on Manafort/Cohen etc, she had files on Russia, ISIS, and Iran as well. There's also an unnamed co-conspirator mentioned in the documents released today as well as implications she received the foreign intelligence documents from someone inside the SSCI (can you say Mr. Wolfe?)

Also, Jason Leopold is "Reporter 1" - this has been confirmed. He's a Buzzfeed/Al Jazeera reporter.

She investigated financial crimes.  She'd almost certainly have access to info on Russia, Iran, and ISIS. Given all the money laundering they do.

How much time is she looking at? If she does it suddenly get depressed and get two Taps to the back of the head?

Years - but I don't know the exact number off the top of my head.

She's also going to get sued up the wazoo by everyone who's information she leaked (and they all have high powered, litigious attorneys).

I thought I read 5 years max for each count (of which I believe there are 2) and a 250k fine for each as well

https://thehill.com/hilltv/what-americas-thinking/411963-junket-justice-how-special-interests-pay-to-schmooze-doj-and

Some DOJ officials have a bigger penchant from junkets than others. Take, for example, Andrew Weissmann, the head of DOJ fraud section and the current deputy to special counsel Robert Mueller in the investigation of Russia’s influence on our 2016 election.

Weissmann reported accepting more than a half-dozen free trips between 2016 and 2018, all in the United States and none necessarily to glamorous locations, though Miami wasn’t necessarily a bad place for a junket in March 2017, or San Diego the March before that.

Baker back on the Hill today, testifying about RR's wire comment (as well as other things)...

Should be an afternoon full of reports about what he said or didn't say...

Nellie Ohr is scheduled to appear tomorrow but now Fox is reporting she is not going to show. Reminder: Ohr is a CIA officer who was hired by Simpson and GPS to work on the dossier while her husband, Bruce the number 4 man at the DOJ, was feeding the dossier to not just the FBI but State and journalists.

There is a hot rumor going around that Natalie Edwards boss (the co-conspirator) reported to Bruce Ohr at one time.

BYRON YORK: Rosenstein talks to press, but not to Congress; Republicans irate.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein doesn’t give many press interviews. But he did, on Wednesday, invite a Wall Street Journal reporter to the Justice Department for what the Journal called an “expansive” conversation.

Rosenstein talked about the Robert Mueller Trump-Russia special counsel investigation, calling it “appropriate and independent.” He stressed that he serves at the pleasure of the president. He said he tries to avoid media speculation about both the investigation and his job.

Rosenstein had time to discuss a lot of things. One thing apparently not mentioned in the interview was the fact that, at that very moment, Rosenstein was putting off appearing before the House Judiciary-Oversight task force that wants to question him, not just about the Trump-Russia investigation, but about reports that he last year suggested wearing a wire to secretly record President Trump in the White House and that he also discussed invoking the 25th Amendment in an effort to remove the president from office.

Republicans thought that Rosenstein had agreed to talk with them last week. Then they learned he would not show. That prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., to threaten a subpoena.

Once Congress let people get away with ignoring subpoenas in the Obama Administration, they set themselves up for this kind of problem. And with the precedents that have been set, the Dems’ hoped-for investigations if they take the House may fizzle.

It is truly tit for tat. I can imagine a Democratic house, at the realms of Pelosi attempting to subpoena everyone with the administration of Trump.  They won't show and it'll be a show down every night on the news of how many days it's been since Nikki Haley, Jared Kushner, Mike Pence, Paul Manafort, everyone have ignored the subpoena

To be fair, the Obama administration was following the Bush administration's precedent in that regard.

In that thread is the multi-million dollar question:

The indictment included "conspiracy against the US" charges for failing to register for social media spends, political activities, etc.

However, the Special Counsel insists that it doesnt have to show Concord "had a legal duty to report."

How is it conspiracy if there's no underlying illegal conduct or no illegal ends?

Since I am not an attorney and do not play one on the internet, this is for those who really are attorneys here...

If the marital privilege is for criminal proceedings only, how does it work in this case? She can invoke it because it will lead to criminal charges? (IOW, does it cover something that might lead to criminal proceedings too?) Or is Congress letting one get by them? And, what can they do except call the sargeant at arms and have her escorted to the Congressional whoscow?

The Justice Department on Friday charged a Russian woman for her role in a conspiracy to interfere with the 2018 U.S. election, marking the first criminal case prosecutors have brought against a foreign national for interfering in the upcoming Midterms.

Elena Khusyaynova, 44, was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States. Prosecutors said she managed the finances of “Project Lakhta,” a foreign influence operation they said was designed “to sow discord in the U.S. political system” by pushing arguments and misinformation online about a whole host of divisive political issues, including immigration, the Confederate flag, gun control, and the NFL national anthem protests.

The charges against Khusyaynova came just as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence warned that it was concerned about “ongoing campaigns” by Russia, China and Iran to interfere with the upcoming Midterm elections and even the 2020 race — an ominous warning that comes just weeks before voters head to the polls.
