Not if it was McD making the picks.

You gotta concede DW inherited a bad situation that only got worse and most people seem inclined to think he had no control over much of what made his job so difficult (just read the thread I responded to, sums it all up).

Bottom line--the Pegulas are continuing to run this team like a second rate organization. Whether or not you like DW, McD or anyone else who is here or who comes here, it doesn't bode well for anyone--especially not for us, the fans who have been suffering for far too long.

Only in Buffalo could a team go 17 years without sniffing the playoffs and people would defend the GM.

Was Whaley GM for 17 years? Did Whaley hire the Lardass Brothers to coach the Bills?

He's been here for a good part of it along with Overdorf, the house cleaning should have been done years ago.

He's been GM since 2013. He's been responsible for four drafts if you count today. Four years is not most of 17.

NOT trying to be a jerk, but then hiring their GM after we jump them on multiple occasions is bad optics. I like Whaley, but I'm not married to him. I want to WIN. But I don't want to be punished for stupid actions! (Not personal against you.)

I'm just not concerned about it because I don't think there was any wrongdoing. Because it wasn't necessary. If that's the case, do you think we should avoid hiring (potentially) the right guy because it's bad optics? I don't.

Who was a kid 17 years ago, and the new owner just showed up to keep the team from moving. Way to keep the glass half missing. They are doing all they can, it won't be easy, or perfect. Whiners please reteat for a while. It's tiring. Rational thought is welcome and refreshing, however.

Well it's already out there so we'll see but I don't see the NFL doing anything. What does Carolina do, whine that we stole the players they wanted to draft? There's no tampering in trading past Carolina to take a player they had on their board. What's McDermott supposed to do, take a vow of silence during the draft because he was with another team while they were scouting players?

Honestly I hated the idea that Whaley would get fired after the draft and it reeked of dysfunction. But knowing that McDermott was apparently just going off of Carolina's scouting I kind of love the move now. I like the high character picks, I think leadership is where it all starts. I don't think McDermott will always be trade happy, he just wanted to make sure he got his players in a draft he had to throw together kind of last minute. He still got himself an additional 1st next year and more QB competition. It makes sense to me.

I believe you are 100% correct.

You will hear the parting was amicable. Whaley did indeed request to void his contract. That is why he continued on following through with this draft. His reputation remains at stake for other jobs. The scouting staff has been telling anyone that would listen that they were leaving. There's a big disconnect of philosophy between DW and the new coach.

Whaley would have drafted anyone other then a white pocket passing QB.

Thank you very much for the info.

Your just madd Charlie. Whaley has drafted poorly and its clear these are McDs guys. Time for a new GM.

I am I won't lie I am and I'm also exhausted and sad that this is the big topic after a great draft. I was a fan before and ill be a fan after. I just realize I'm not a fan of some of the fans or owners. I'm done with this topic. As long I get to watch a playoff game on the big screen and enjoy some wins with my family on Sunday ticket this year that's all that really matters. No good can come from all this negativity and low vibes. This is not a healthy place in general

Absolutely not! Do the right thing the right way and I'm all in.

Whaley has been #1 or #2 in command for the past 7 years. IMO, he's been given more than enough time.
