The extra pick means using it for a player at a position that you just lost, instead of using the extra pick for a different position. They might still lose butler, and be replacing him with gilmore. They will be replacing blount with burkhead/gillislee. I don't think your contention is that clear cut yet. Exactly. It might not have been the best decision, or maybe it was. It really is impossible to know now. BADOLBILZ Posted April 24, 2017 Share Posted April 24, 2017 Well good news then.. unless the Bills are planning to part ways with Sammy we won't have much cap room next year either. $40mil doesn't go very far when you factor in that only 27 players are under contract for next year (not including PS players) and the salary cap is based on top 51. That $40mil also doesn't include this year's rookie class, next year's rookie class, Sammy Watkins, Eric Wood, or Kyle WIlliams. So, if anything, be prepared for more of the same next year... You have a very rudimentary understanding of the cap, Adam. Suffice to say, you don't have a grasp on the situation. Try looking at where all that accounted-for cap money is going in 2018..........then try to imagine what is going to happen to some of those players at their age and cap figure. Going to be a lotta' money coming off the books just by sheer attrition and the cost of filling out the second half of a roster ain't what you think it is. The Bills are marginally worse on paper, but probably better in the coaching dept and possibly better with a healthy ( I hope) Ragland, Watkins and Lawson. We'll see. Every season is it's own story. From a team that doesn't need him nonetheless? Just a single offer sheet to become the highest paid rb on the reigning sb champs and to replace the NFL td leader. What a nobody. Will it still be the run dominant one of the last couple years or will it be more balanced? If more balanced then that may have been involved in the decision making. One other thought occurred to me. Remember the kickoff that MG messed up and didn't cover? Our new HC is big on detail. Wonder if that entered into things; if he has a backup RB he doesn't trust on special teams? A 5th round pick will make way less money and offer way more potential to the organization than Mike. Plus, the Lombardi trophy should just be given to the Pats for the 17-18 season. Theyre winning the superbowl with or without gillislee and buffalo ain't going to be stopping it.Easy decision to make. Calm down everyone.
