"The Buffalo News contacted the Bills for a response, and the team issued the following statement from a spokesman:

"Steve Christie is a valuable member of our alumni community and we appreciate all that he has done for this organization. He is the Bills' all-time leading scorer and the top field-goal kicker in team history. We appreciated his offer to assist Dan and that was communicated to him. But we all just felt it was in the best interests to have Dan continue his working relationship with the coaches."

I can't imagine a reason why Whaley would have a strong personal opinion on this. And Rex seemed to like have old-timers around. So my guess is that Danny Crossman was worried that Christie's coaching would not line up with his own. And then Rex and Doug supported Crossman - which would be the right thing to do.

Levy waxing poetically while the franchise burned under his general managerial ineptness wasn't embarrassing to the franchise at all, I suppose...

Levy wasn't GM nearly long enough to burn the franchise. Talk about exaggeration.

Seriously. Who even cares about this? Yet here I am posting again in this thread...

I care. It's one more indication that our GM is laughably incompetent.

It's one more indication that people will believe anything.

Are you insinuating that Steve Christie is lying?

Because of reports that a former K wanted to help the recently released K? Brilliant

These aren't reports. They're statements directly from Christie himself. You don't understand the difference? lol

So if any former player asks to help coach the current team, GM should automatically say yes?

Not just any player but the all-time leader in points should be on the shortlist. It's about honoring the past by maintaining healthy relationships with those who contributed to the franchise.
