Trump and Russia

Recommended Posts

Nothing to do with Trump, but an interesting insight into Putin and his motivations. The Trump administration needs to quit stalling on the full implementation of new sanctions overwhelmingly approved by Congress a couple of months ago.

The optimal wisest thing to do upon taking over for Trump would have been a fully acceptable firing of all Dems operatives and a call for an investigation into Russian ties, but that wasn't gonna happen.

Has nothing to do with Dems or Russian ties to anybody. The article was about Putin and the Kremlin's reaction to sanctions and it lends insight into why we they're important. I know Putin has gained a lot of fans here given the investigations into their meddling, etc., but he is a thug and his policies and actions could not be more diametrically opposed to our democratic ideals. Some of us happen to think those ideals are still important.

Of course it matters about Dems and GOP. The Dems and the media are in cahoots and cover up everything.

Keeping Dem staffers and lawyers around is inviting a disaster.

Firing them on the spot day one is the only solution for any new admin.

That's pretty wacky.

https://www.leahy.senate.gov/press/as-mueller-investigation-proceeds-leahy-calls-to-protect-integrity-and-independence-of-special-counsel

“Today we learned that one of then-candidate Trump’s foreign policy advisors lied to the FBI about his attempts to coordinate meetings between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. We separately learned that Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was deeply connected to and profited from Russian interests in Ukraine, and he allegedly laundered millions of dollars through foreign accounts and lied about it to the U.S. government. He then went on to serve as the chairman of President Trump’s campaign, for free, where he discussed with an associate how to use that position to settle outstanding debts related to his pro-Russian work in Ukraine.

Collusion!

Trump's best defense in all this (and one I happen to believe) is he was unprepared and lazy when it came to vetting people like Manafort (who the hell works for free) and Flynn. That is consistent with Trump's character traits.

As I've heard it told, in the early going Trump's campaign was completely unable to find a qualified campaign manager, and he was referred to Manafort as part of his search to find anyone willing to work with him in the capacity.

Well, they needed an experienced campaign manager as they had to fight the full on assault the RNC was putting on Trump at the time and talk of a split convention was still in the air. Manafort worked for Ford, Reagan and George H.W. Bush in the past along with major presidential campaigns around the world. I'm just assuming they never bothered to vet him.

Again, the article I linked has nothing to do with Dems, Repubs, or the like no matter how much you insist on conflating every issue involving Putin and his politics with what's going on here.

On another note, your insistence that career professionals are incapable of bi-partisan behavior in the course of their jobs is absurd.

I think that's probably a fair assessment.

So, 14 of the Russian "ads" were released... this terrible attempt at trolling/propaganda is really an act of war? This nonsense, that anyone with a working brain can see is garbage, is why we need to push state sponsored/silicon valley sponsored censorship?

REALLY?... REALLY?

Wake up, folks. Your hatred of Trump and fear of Russia are being used to manipulate you into accepting censorship. Those pushing this narrative believe you are too stupid to think for yourselves, the only way to protect you from you is for the government/silicon valley to decide what information you can see.

The Russian propaganda push - which absolutely happened but is ridiculously over-hyped - is nothing new and certainly nothing we need to sacrifice basic civil liberties in order for the government/silicon valley to protect us from.

Let's not give into fear, again, and sacrifice the basic necessities of a free society for "protection". We !@#$ed up in 2001 (led astray by the same propaganda machine that has now taken over the left btw), let's learn from our mistakes and look past the fear.

Here you go DR.

The democrat Senator from Virginia has got you beat....................

This graphic of Jesus and Hillary Clinton is an actual post shared by the Russian page “Army of Jesus,” released during #TechHearings.

DNkccV9XkAEYnK5.jpg

Democrat Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia posted this on Twitter as an example of a Russian-backed Facebook post.

REMEMBER when this used to be about the Russians "hijacking the election !"

........................................................................................."tampering with the ballots"

........................................................................................."Overturning our democracy"

Now it's about poorly composed facebook ads, supposedly influenced millions of voters ??

How little do dems/libs think of Americans to believe something so stupid.

I'm almost embarrassed for them.
