LAMP ... Off the grid for 2 weeks in Haiti

Our family moved to Haiti in September to serve as missionaries for the next three (at least) years. We've had a good adjustment as we learn Kreyol and invest in the people. However, today we head to a small community in the central passion for a two week immersion experience to speed up the process of language and culture acquisition. We will have latrines, outdoor showers, no electricity and no personal vehicle. We'd appreciate your prayers as this is a tough prospect. It's like primitive camping in a sauna.

I'll check this thread when we get back and, if there's interest, I post some of the pictures.

Go Bills and Sabres!

We will absolutely pray for your service.

Unfortunately, Haiti is a prime example of corruption.

Tragedy strikes, the world empties its pockets to help, and the people of Haiti see absolutely none of the money. The stories I hear from other missionaries there are just heartbreaking. Tent cities everywhere. Empty buildings meant to house everyone, but with no electrical or plumbing built in...just shells that are so poorly built people prefer the tents.

Thank you for posting. Are you in Port aubPrimce now?

When I know you did not accomplish all the you hoped too, you must be very proud of you and your family's effort. The heat must just be like something I have never experienced.

Would be great if you could post or PM a link where we could donate or help your efforts in some way.

This is a great place to be. We are full time in Port au Prince and will be working primarily as a link between Haitian churches and North American teams add they seek to serve and partner here.

As long as I'm not breaking forum rules ... Here is where you can go for more about our organization and to support us.
