LaDexter
There really is precisely no evidence of an ongoing planetary warming. OCinBuffalo
This is a PSA: This issue is totally dead politically. Any further discussion of this issue is an utter waste of time, since it is politically dead. One can tell it's politically dead by mere observation: nobody of importance is talking about it, not even Nancy Pelosi. Democrats: be careful what you wish for. You want this issue to be dead, because you REALLY don't want team Trump to start digging up who got what grant $, for what purpose, check for fraud, start prosecutions, and then? Haul in sitting Senators, Congressman, and people from Obama's admin, and ask tough questions like "why did you authorize this expenditure"? You kick that hornet's nest at your own peril. Far better for you to leave this pile of crap as it is: dead.

LaDexter
Plate tectonics, more precisely the position of land on the planet, that is what "dictates" Earth's climate and "change." Hence, one could define "global warming" as "net loss of land in the polar circles due to tectonic plate movement," because that is what causes Earth to warm. Tiberius
Hey, we are only burning up the planet, so who cares... Quote WASHINGTON — The Trump administration, taking its third major step this year to roll back federal efforts to fight climate change, is preparing to make it significantly easier for energy companies to release methane into the atmosphere. Methane, which is among the most powerful greenhouse gases, routinely leaks from oil and gas wells, and energy companies have long said that the rules requiring them to test for emissions were costly and burdensome. The Environmental Protection Agency, perhaps as soon as this week, plans to make public a proposal to weaken an Obama-era requirement that companies monitor and repair methane leaks, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times. In a related move, the Interior Department is also expected in coming days to release its final version of a draft rule, proposed in February, that essentially repeals a restriction on the intentional venting and “flaring,” or burning, of methane from drilling operations. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/10/climate/methane-emissions-epa.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage

B-Man
7 Attorney General Offices Are Running Private Investigations For A Billionaire This is the second scheme we have found of donors and elected officials using nonprofits as ‘cutouts’ to provide staff, consultant, PR and legal support for climate-activist officeholders. Privately funded “special assistant attorneys general” (SAAGs) are presently working in at least six jurisdictions, under agreements that they focus on matters of importance to the billionaire donor paying their salary and benefits and regularly report back on their activities. The donor is Michael Bloomberg, and his interest is “climate change.” This unprecedented arrangement raises questions not just of state law, but constitutional concerns that no legislature could waive, regardless of the benefactor or his wealth. I detail this scheme in a new report for the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), “Law Enforcement for Rent: How Special Interests Fund Climate Policy through State Attorneys General.” This paper, and the appendix with emails and attachments obtained under public records laws, detail this mercenary use of law enforcement powers, plainly in reaction to the global warming industry failing to achieve their goals the proper democratic process. Recall that after “cap-and-trade” legislation failed, President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency responded by claiming it actually had the authority it needed, and pushed regulations instead. A rise of 7 degrees Fahrenheit, or about 4 degrees Celsius, compared with preindustrial levels would be catastrophic, according to scientists. Many coral reefs would dissolve in increasingly acidic oceans. Parts of Manhattan and Miami would be underwater without costly coastal defenses. Extreme heat waves would routinely smother large parts of the globe. But the administration did not offer this dire forecast, premised on the idea that the world will fail to cut its greenhouse gas emissions, as part of an argument to combat climate change. Just the opposite: The analysis assumes the planet’s fate is already sealed.

Nanker
The religion of Global Warming is so much more convenient than old school bricks and mortar religions. It comes with far fewer obligations, you pay for your participation with other people’s money, and you can profess your religious beliefs with impunity and the smugness that comes from being annointed a “true believer.” Hey, what’s not to like? It saves you from going to church just on Sundays and really frees up that day for the new American passion - protesting the Western European derived cultural heritage. Ah, except for the beer. That’s one indulgence that is tolerated.
