Is it really necessary to block Bleacher Report still?

Matt Bowen writes fantastic articles for Bleacher Report. He has a way of breaking down film and explaining coverages and concepts so well. His stuff is really a great read no matter what team he's writing about.

This^^

Bleacher Report is doing some great analysis at the moment. They may not be breaking stories but they are breaking it down as well, or better than anyone at this point. Their format is obnoxious but if someone clicks on a story and decides they don't want to go through it, so be it. That should be up to the posters though.

If we are acting as if it is so far below ESPN that is ridiculous. Unless it has something to do with site compatibility blocking Bleacher Report at this point is completely and totally asinine. There is no reason to filter out good content (which there is a lot of over there now). That goes directly against the point of this board and intelligent football conversation. Let the posters decide what information is prudent to the conversation.

Excellent story; thanks for the link. It's a pretty dystopian enterprise. That said, they do have more and more good analyses. It has evolved. And while they don't break news, their better pieces do offer good analysis - which is what I suspect most of the posters on this board are interested in the most.

Bleacher Report has come a long way.

It's a decent read with decent analysis and a lot of content for us fans. Yes no breaking stories. But have you ever read ESPN's coverage of the bills? Horrible. Might as well block that site too.

Had no idea it was "banned." Is that really true?

Yeah, when there is something worthwhile on there you just have to tell someone what to google.

One more thing on BR is that Matt Miller is doing really nice work on the draft. He goes in depth on different prospects that can add a lot to our conversations on particular players.

Is it really necessary to block Bleacher Report still?

Well, let's look at the four most recent "Buffalo Bills Stories" written by "Bleacher Report Writers", which will provide the answer to your question.

"Leodis McKelvin Injury: Updates on Bills CB's Ankle and Return"

Allegedly written by Bleacher Report, but instead is copies of tweets from Syracuse, com, BuffaloBills.com and Buffalo News.

"Fred Jackson Injury: Updates on Bills Star's Groin and Return"

Copies from the WGR-AM article.

"Jerry Hughes Goes Bust to Boom in Buffalo, but Can Bills Afford to Re-Sign Him?"

Copies from Rochester D&C, BuffaloBills.com, NFL.com and ProFootballTalk.com

"Bills' Thursday Night Loss to Dolphins All but Kills Buffalo's Playoff Hopes"

Copies from ESPN.om and NFL.com

There may be many reasons to block their links; there is one very good reason not to IMO:

Matt Bowen

A day or so ago he was on WGR the Murphy Show. Matt Bowen is a good analyst and is excellent on the radio. He is smart and very articulate. He does his homework and his responses demonstrate it.

Actually, it is against the bleacher reports policy for writers to break their own news. What they do is leech off of others reporting and then instead of driving traffic to the original sites they take the traffic for themselves. Their motto is own the story after someone else breaks it.

You should change this site so that we can only read one post per page. Just think of the drama of waiting to see what that next post is, only to find out that it is DC Tom calling someone an idiot.

So we block Matt Bowen but not Skip Bayless?

this is of interest to no one but me, but it always blows my mind to think that skip and rick bayless are brothers. rick seems so calm, relaxed and non-obnoxious as compared to skip.

damn, now i want mexican.

So BR does what every news agency that reports on the Internet does, compile information from a number of sources and report the compilations? Sometimes effectively, sometimes not.

Garbage. The entire goal of the site owners is to sell ads and increase clicks and revenue. They just chose hackish sports "reporting" as their method of moneymaking.

Isn't that pretty much a description of the internet, Twitter, Facebook and all the rest?

Analogy time..

Deadspin trashing Bleacher is as MSNBC trashing Fox News.. Yea yea??

Perhaps you should read the sfweekly.com story which is the more important of the two.

Saying BR is respectable because of Matt Bowen is like sticking up for ISIS because their neonatal health care plan is top notch.

Again though they have Bowen and Matt Miller amongst some others. I just don't understand why the posters can't link the stories and other posters can choose whether or not to read it and acknowledge it? Why is it being censored on the board?

In the last few years (since Turner bought it) BR has come light years. Outside of their annoying format their content and analysis is AT LEAST as good as ESPN. The site is being deprived of some really good scheme and player analysis without it.

Because EVERY TIME someone quoted/linked one of their pieces it turned into a giant pissing match about how bad and disreputable they are. Add that to their writers joining the board to spam their links and it was clearly a net NEGATIVE.
