Buffalo Barbarian
We would've been overpaying for Byrd by a good amount. He's not worth Ed Reed and Polamalu $ Â keep telling yourself that.
sodbuster
If we don't sign Spikes That caught me so off guard, I don't think I have ever laughed so hard at a gif. I'm in tears. Everybody around me thinks I've lost my marbles.
1B4IDie
I love Smerles as a Bills player. I've listened to him on Boston radio and I'm not really going to sweat too much over Smerles' opinion. I'd be more concerned with what Pepper Johnson thinks than Fred Smerles. papazoid
4 years / 16 mil seems to be the going rate for ILB's  daryl smith in balt and Wesley woodyard with ten just signed for that.

dave mcbride
For the Spikes fans out there: where is the productivity? Those AV numbers are sub-average, and all the other numbers are low too:  http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SpikBr99.htm  He's SIGNIFICANTLY less productive than Poz in virtually every category, for instance: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PoluPa99.htm

He is not an every down backer - which devalues the use of #'s in trying to evaluate him. But he sure can stop the run well. Very strong and instinctive. Peter
Some reading material for the F5ers  Normal rules don’t apply to Brandon Spikes  I found this quote interesting:  "Spikes is a force in run defense, however. ProFootballFocus.com has Spikes graded as its sixth-best middle/inside linebacker this season, and the best at his position when it comes to stopping the run: His grade for the season of plus-13.2 against the run is nearly six points better than the Panthers’ Luke Kuechly, whose plus-7.5 ranks second." BackInDaDay
as someone whose been posting how a Spikes signing impacts an immediate need and impacts our options in the upcoming draft, i fully expect an offer would be made that doesn't insult Spikes, but that won't bowl him over.. it's a good fit, at the right time, but Whaley has options to filling our ILB needs in 2014 and beyond that don't require he to give up the store for Spikes.. hoping it works out so we can get our WR and OT before having to address ILB.
