If you disregard the early 90s and the saints current run - they certainly share a bit of a kindred spirit.... And that owner became a better one and more popular once they got Brees. hopefully, Manuel gets to be at least half as good as Brees. Guffalo Posted October 29, 2013 Share Posted October 29, 2013 We had a great experience and although the Bills lost, we were treated like friends before and after the game. There was maybe one or two over the top fans that would get a bit annoying, but we had no problems with fans and were so impressed with how well we were treated. I know of kids being verbally abused in the parking lot at the Ralph for wearing the opponents jersey. Completely unacceptable and embarrassing. I have never been to a Saints game, but I have been to N.O. and have always found it to be a friendly city and apparently many others in this thread have as well. I agree. i actually made a comment while the Saints where pulling away in the game on Sunday. I called that the Bills would be down 21-10 at half because i just knew what was coming. The Saints fan next to me was like wow. I said 'you remember how it was for you guys pre Brees and Peyton'. He said yep. Honestly best game day experience ever was down there this past weekend. Awesome fans, clean stadium, and everyone is trying to have fun. I had 5 Bills fans sitting above me and my buddies(Saints Fans). The Bills fans where obnoxious and embaresing. They actually made the comment ' doesnt anyone get in fights here'? I told me buddy that is why i do not go to Bills games anymore in Buffalo. Too many guys get loaded up and then look for trouble. Anyways, great gameday, kudos to the City and Saints fans. Good people and good place. One guy with me is a Pats* fan who goes to a ton of games around the country..he called it his best NFL experience ever. I still prefer the Ralph, but this is a very close 2nd! Had a couple small groups of saints fans start to antagonize us towards the end. They were the exception. birdog1960 Posted October 29, 2013 Share Posted October 29, 2013 have been to a saints game asa kid in the distant past (archie was qb and they played in the sugar bowl at the time) but lived in NO for about a year and in general met lots of nice folks. glad to hear about the fan experience for out of towners. would make me much more likely to go to a future bills game there. on the other hand, we went to an lsu/tennessee game in baton rouge a few years back and it was brutal. we went with a bunch of tenn fans so we chose to wear orange. right off the bus we saw a mob jeering the tenn marching band to the point that they had a police escort into the stadium. way to many taunts and vulgarities throw our way but mostly by students. on the way out, our group was being further verbally abused by students when a group of adults walked up and shamed the morons and apologized. still, don't think i'd ever go back there for a game. Went down there two years ago to see Syracuse play Tulane in the Superdome and agree with everything everyone has said about how welcoming their fans and business owners were to all of us in our Orange gear. Funny that you should ask. I live in New Orleans and was at my girlfriends kickball game last night talking with some Saints fans. They were surprised by how well represented we were (heard that from a lot of people). In my 7 football seasons down here only the Steelers had more people. Anyways, the guy that I was talking to has been to 22 stadiums for Saints road games and said that the Bills fans were by far the worst. He said that they were way worse than Philly and that he would never go back. When I was younger I used to think that it was great that we had such a hostile crowd and people were scared to come to Orchard Park. Now I just think that it is embarrassing. Extending that to the parking lot and opposing teams fans is not. It's very sad that people have such a negative experience in Buffalo. I'm sure it clouds their perception of the entire area. You hit the nail on the head. If I'm in Buffalo and see another group of fans from out of town, I take it as my duty to show them a good time in Buffalo. Buy a couple of rounds, get natured ribbing, tell them good places in town. At the same time, if you're going to an opposing stadium, don't be an a hole yourself.
