If they are, they can walk away from nearly $49 million of it after the season. They went into the season paying him backup money and just as his value was at the up-most peak, you give him 60 Million without seeing how the entire season played out. What would the market really have been after the season for him?? Higher than 60$ Mil for a career backup? Doubtful.... It gives the Bills the ability to walk away, without the risk of having to pay him more than $60 million had he proved himself. With that said, its time to draft a franchise QB. I like the one from Baylor. Get OLB/DE in free agency (we have a TON of money to spend as we are 20 below the cap and there are some good ones out there), draft one WR, FA another, draft more D-line and O-line. The Senator Posted November 21, 2011 Share Posted November 21, 2011 Listen...it's not Fitz's fault the entire o-line is either on IR or perpetually injured - some of us saw this coming before the season even began and clamored for Nix to sign some veteran (or any) o-line back-up for depth, in anticipation of the injuries that were inevitable during a 16-game season. That being said if the Bills walk away from this contract, they can forget having any decent free agent come to Buffalo. (Yes I realize that most won't come anyways) Merriman and Barnett are starting to change that thinking. But if they commit to a contract and void after four months, NFL Players will avoid this place like the plague. Robert Griffith will probably be a good NFL QB, but we will be drafting in the Top 15 possibility the Top 10 do we want the Bills to take the fourth best QB in the Draft at that position? ajzepp Posted November 21, 2011 Share Posted November 21, 2011 I hate feeling this way, cause I'm typically not one of the people on here who changes their views and opinions based on the direction of the wind like some of you bozos, but I'm relieved to hear this about the contract. I really like Fitz, and I'm glad we gave him the reigns this season, but he's really, REALLY disappointed me the last few weeks. I'm just not ready to hitch the wagon to him for the long term.
