They're getting guys they think fit what they want. That said, I still would have rather gone another way. I want Demarcus Love next or an OT tackle prospect that might slide, such as Hairston. I love that fact! Last season, one of the posters here indicated that he'd attained a perfect record in fantasy football by starting whichever TE was facing the Bills that week. If this guy can help us get better at covering TEs, then he's a solid addition to this football team! However, I am concerned about the fact that nothing has been done to address the offense, and specifically the hole at RT. Then again, the Bills were more than just one draft away from filling all their holes; and I strongly suspect the 2012 draft will be offense-oriented. Tackling with the crown of your helmet like Leonard Smith will cost you 15 yards and a check with a bunch of zeros these days. This from nfl.com Searcy is an effective safety in coverage, but he is not aggressive enough in run support to contribute at the next level. He has enough range to be a center fielder and shows the ability make plays when the ball is in the air. He also has experience as a nickel back over the slot, but he lacks the hip fluidity to stick with NFL receivers in man coverage. We have got to start keeping good players past their rookie contracts or it will be a never ending revolving door for talent. 2 DBs & now a RB, what's next, another WR? Come on Nix, how about a DE? I know its tough to see past the "DB Rage" after what Jauron did to us, but it's up to this new FO to sign the young DB talent when it comes time. That means seeing what they do when McKelvin, Byrd, Williams, and Searcy's contracts are up. That wont be for a couple years. And as I just posted in another thread... Carrington, Troup, and Dareus were all drafted early, and FA Edwards signed, to play next to our all-pro DL Williams. Woods, Levitre, and FA Urbik were all early draft picks to address our OLine, and we got a steal with Hairston for OT, and they drafted Wang last year for depth. Batten, Moats, Coleman, and now Sheppard were all drafted and FA Merriman was picked up to play with Poz. That's 4 at DL, 4-5 at OL, and 5 at LB. vizslafan Posted April 30, 2011 Share Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) I live in Dallas and was listening to the Ticket/1310 today when Searcy was picked. The host, Norm Hitzges, was bummed. Said the Cowboys had their eyes on him and thought he would be their pick in round 4. Norm has had an annual draft show for at least the last 25 years and knows his stuff. Thought Searcy had a chance to start for Dallas. A little while later Norm said Buffalo was a candidate for best draft. In years past he has been very critical of Buffalo.
