Patriots-Bills to be blacked out in Western New York?

The Bills said today that there are still approximately 2,000 tickets still unsold for Sunday’s game against New England. If they are not sold by 1 p.m. Thursday, the game will not be televised in the western New York market and that would be a first this season.

Last week in Kansas City, the Chiefs were granted a 24-hour extension to sell about 3,000 tickets for their game against the Bills, and it was successful and the game was televised locally. The Bills could do the same thing if the tickets aren’t gone by the deadline.

As for the Jan. 3 season finale against Indianapolis, at last count nearly 5,000 tickets were available.

The Bills have struggled in recent years to sell out the last couple of games on their schedule, due to a combination of the wintry weather, the busy holiday season, and the fact that the team hasn’t been to the playoffs in nine consecutive years.

They don't sell out because by this time of the year hope has been erased. But, they sold all of their home games out last season and had 56k+ season tickets.

Eventually, promising hope means you've got to deliver. When you don't, prepare for problems. Besides, winter weather and the Christmas season didn't hurt back in the early nineties.

Where are all the Pats* fans? I thought they always bought a lot of tickets for this game.

A lot of bankers, stock brokers and such we required to take bonus cuts! Have you no pity this time or year or are you just attempting some class warfare? It is almost like you are saying Patriots* are fair weather fans!

Meanwhile we B word when the Bills play in Toronto in December. 2,000 tickets? Ch.4 will buy them all. Not sure about 5,000 for the Colts. That game could get flexed to Sunday night if Indy is 15-0.

I looked on nfl.com and there is no sunday night game week 17. Maybe they will change that?

I was in JAX and couldn't believe what they do. They take a bunch of tickets and give them to honor students.

Surely there are 2,000 honor students in WNY... But, then again there are whole sections empty in JAX... They can march all the students in wearing yellow t-shirst and have them sit in the same section that they detarped.

At The Ralph, they can do what happens at church... Have the whole pew slide on down.

Exactly. Tired of hearing about weather and Holidays being a factor. Jan 1, 1989 against Oilers. No problems with selling tickets for that game.

Ah, the 'old days'. I don't live in WNY anymore but 2000 tix?? That was nothing back in the day. I hope the Bills get an extension and a company somewhere picks up the tab for youz guyz.

2,000 ? Two thousand? That's no big deal. They will get bought by a sponsor and donated like they have in the past.

The Putz game is too important not to show it.

Do the Bills have what it takes to keep the Putz road record ZERO???

5,000 may be too much for one sponsor, but you have a full week of sales left.

That was a playoff game & the first playoff game ever at Ralph Wilson Stadium. That is a little different then a meaningless game played bny a bunch of bills that probably will not even be on the roster next year.

Maybe it's not scheduled because NBC wants to flex the best game. They have the right to do so with 6 days warning on the last week of the season.

No. The Sunday Night Crew only does 16 games, not 17 games. They dont do the last Sunday of the season.
