  1. Interesting discussion from Joe on WGR this morning where according to analysts a 4 year deal is about 44 million for Tremaine which the Bills can definitely afford… Or would you be ok with going after someone like a Mike McGlinchey in San Francisco who is roughly the same contract over 4 years and with other decisions in San Fran likely to hit the open market he would definitely solidify RT…but LB being a priority in the draft. I like Tremaine but man I’d sleep a little easier not playing a rookie or Brown on Josh’s other side.
  2. Every once in a while these things turn out to be true. So take it with a heaping pile of salt but...
  3. Okay, I know some on the board has been harsh on him, in a lot of cases rightfully deserved. But can we take a moment and all agree he had a monster game today, making big plays at just the right time? The critics among you can keep your opinion, but even you have to admit for this game at least he was clutch.
  4. Tremaine and Poyer. I knew Poyer was gone but was hoping they'd get Edmunds back. And I'm surprised they haven't started restructuring any deals yet, Josh being the biggest one
  5. Of course trading up and taking Allen was the most impactful. But I'd argue the decision on Edmunds will have repercussions for years. There are so many options. Sign him long term and spread out the cap hit to a player that at best has had an inconsistent impact since entering the NFL. Even spreading out the can hit, it will still commit massive resources to the two linebackers. Tag and force him to play under the tag. Tag and trade. Simply let him walk. This next decision may ultimately make or break Beane's career. The window to tag a player has already opened and a decision must be made by March 7th. Should be an interesting week ahead.
  6. Some of us wanted him last year alongside an Edmunds trade. He ended up signing with the Rams at about $12M/per. Now Bobby and the Rams are “mutually agreeing to part ways because he wants to be with a contender.” How about Bobby Wagner and a late round pick to groom at MLB?
  7. Seems like there are several third round type players who can be suitable Edmunds replacements. This assumes we are keeping Frazier and our scheme. These are two: DeMarvion Overshown - former safety who grew up to be a linebacker https://thedraftnetwork.com/sr-prospect/demarvion-overshown-9d45f5cd-68e2-4ed1-ba13-6c61db37b4b8/ DeMarvion Overshown 🔥 FREAKISH LINEBACKER ᴴᴰ WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS Drew Sanders - Projects all over the place from early second to late third Best Linebacker in the Nation 💪 | Drew Sanders 2022 Arkansas Highlights 🐗 || HD
  8. Anything is possible but it sounds like we have seen the end of Edmunds' career as a Bill. Which leaves more room to build the offense.
  9. Reflecting on what happened to the Bills’ players’ contracts and how they were structured. I was of the opinion that Beane was a wizard when it came to contracts but I’m not so sure right now. Knowing what the salary cap has been I’m a bit surprised by how much the checks and balances were a bit out of whack, finding ourselves upside down and over budget by a considerable amount I might add. If I recall correctly there’s been a few players that Beane put on a 1 year contract on and when the time came to re-sign them they had outplayed their contract, hence to re-up them the cost escalated considerably. I’m thinking it would be better to sign players to a contract that consists of multiple years (3 yes?) with funny money built into the backend of it so it would allow the Bills to have an out of it after a year or 2. I referenced Tremaine Edmunds’ contract in the title of this thread and what I’d like some opinions on is due to Edmunds being so young (19 yrs old) when we drafted him. The Bills built a contract that in hindsight wasn’t going to favor the Bills in the end. Being only 19, getting 5 years of NFL experience when the contract expires leaves Edmunds holding all the cards. What I’m thinking is that when a drafted player is ultra young then it would serve the administration better to recontract such player by no later than year 3 before the player has more time to validate himself, hence his value/cost skyrockets. In Edmunds’ case I realize he never blew anyone away with his play so the Bills waited until the next year and then again waited again the following year after that in which he finally did play good and then became unaffordable for the Bills. If the Bills still couldn’t get an accurate bead on him after his 3rd year then when the Bills exercised the 5th year option with him then they should have traded him by the end of the 4th year or even extend him by that time. Allowing Edmunds to finish his contract left the Bills high and dry imo. If anyone wants to say that well at least the Bills will get a compensatory pick for him is very disappointing compensation if you ask me. Drafting 1st rders and just ending up with a compensatory pick is poor management imo.
  10. Just wondering. If everybody played with the passion of London Fletcher, this would be a different game. I loved watching him when he was here in St. Louis, and was thrilled he went to our team. But there's something about Edmunds. I hope he stays. I don't care what he gets paid.
  11. Watching the game yesterday and taking note of Tremaine Edmunds and Jordan Poyer absence I have this thought. The Steelers were able to be fairly successful throwing the ball yesterday and to be honest I felt the absence of Edmunds was a major cause of that success although the yards were “a lot of empty calories” completions. Edmunds presence with his height and wingspan and quickness erect havoc on the opposing QB field of vision and stop many of those passes that were completed yesterday. Obviously Poyer also being out impacted the overall success of the pass defense.
  12. I think we have enough depth at LB with Dodson Bernard and Spector that we should try some 4-3 overloaded blitz looks with Tremaine next to Von. Edmunds really needs to make impact plays and this would give him more opportunities he’s looked good in my opinion when used as a blitzer up the middle
  13. This interview from the NFLN and NFL app asks Sean this question - "You talk about a standard that you set here. How does Sean McDermott extend the bar of that standard?" To summarize , McD said that his leadership , as well as player leadership, "particularly Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds." https://www.nfl.com/videos/sean-mcdermott-on-how-bills-can-accomplish-22-goals-training-camp-practice Question is asked around the 1 minute mark. Long story short, I guarantee Edmunds is a Bill for years to come. The staff and player's clearly love him and for McD to say his name above any other defender speaks volumes. He has been the QB for a top defense for multiple years. That's a fact Personally I agree Edit - On deeper thought, thanks to my friend Mary Jane, what if they're not 100% sold on him and this is McDermotts way of sending a message. He's clearly not a "rah-rah" type of leader and not very talkative in public M. Maybe they're not sold on his leadership, especially after 13 seconds?? Micah Hyde calling Edmunds a future H.O.Fer - "Number one, he elevates throws for the safeties and for the inside guys so much, because he’s six … nine, it seems like,” Hyde said of the 6-5 Edmunds. “He’s able to get his hands up and whether he’s deflecting tips and overthrows or even making the ball elevate, it helps the safeties out. But then he’s sideline-to-sideline. Run plays, he’s quick as can be. We put him on a tight end, he’s able to hold his own. And he’s only going to get better. https://blog.siriusxm.com/buffalo-bills-micah-hyde-tremaine-edmunds-nfl-football/ I always suspected his length and raw physical ability had a way bigger impact on the D than we notice watching film
  14. Edmunds has now had good games in back to back to weeks. This includes big impact plays tonight including sack and tipping a pass for an Int. One drive he dominated the Titans for 3 downs to almost single handedly force them off the field. So since everyone starts a thread trashing him even after good games, I figured it was time he got a thread praising his play because he’s been very good these first 2 weeks. He still has to prove it the rest of the season to see where he fits in the Bills future plans, but he’s off to a very good start and he has earned some praise. UPDATE 10/2: Now 4 games in, and Edmunds is still playing at a high level and coming off another strong game alongside Milano where they did an excellent job keeping Lamar Jackson in check once again.
  15. How can they keep him at MLB? We have seen it game after game. It's because they traded up to get him and don't want to admit what a terrible move it was. No instincts, gets screened off all the time, no impact plays. No way they can pay him top $$$$.
  16. Over the past few days, Bills Twitter has been split over Tremaine Edmunds. The Case for Edmunds: WGR’s Nate Geary and Cover 1’s Erik Turner Both have defended Edmunds and believes that he isn’t the problem. They have also said THE excuse - he’s 22! Also feels he’s a scapegoat and suffering from having a poor DL. To be fair the stuff about the DL is a good argument but I’m not sure that’s the entire issue. The case against Edmunds: Majority of Bills Twitter They will point to weakness Edmunds has shown in run support, how easily he can get fooled and lost in space, and the lack of overall impact plays. Maybe this group doesn’t know the X and O’s but they see a player who appears to have struggled on the field quite a bit. My take I normally agree with Nate and Erik but as of February 2021, I’m skeptical that Edmunds will ever live up to his potential in the defense. I don’t think he got much better and while the issue of the DL and injuries are valid, I just don’t think he’s shown that he’s a special player. I’m really hoping we see a different player because after next year there are no more excuses. No more....”but he’s only 22.” Because after 4 years the excuses need to stop. Many here were not high on Josh last offseason and look what happened. So you never know....but we need to see more. PRO EDMUNDS Against Edmunds:
  17. They haven't posted it broken up into segments yet and the time stamp seems to keep moving as the live show continues. Little tid-bits: -All the Edmunds brothers agree that the favorite child is Trey -Edmunds gives himself a "B-" for his play so far. Says there's a lot more he can do. -Discusses the Children's book he wrote with his brothers "My Brother's Keeper What That Means to Me" -McKenzie tells his story of picking up the nickname "Lil' Dirty" from Quinton Spain. Apparently it wasn't widespread until this year, when Coach McD asked Stefon Diggs a question in team meeting and then asked if he wanted to "phone a friend" and said "I'm going to call Lil' Dirty" then the whole team picked it up. -On FA, Isaiah says he would love to be back in Buffalo if he gets the opportunity but it's his agent's decision now (that struck me as weird, doesn't the player want to choose? but I took it to mean he shouldn't say anything that would interfere with his agent's ability to negotiate for him). -He could have thrown a pass last year, but Daboll always calls the player to see if they're comfortable before he puts it in and he missed the phone call but John Brown answered. So this year he answered his phone. Said Daboll asked if he could throw a pass and he said "of course I can throw, I'm Kyler Murray!" (he was playing Kyler Murray on Scout Team). He's a trip, I hope we get him back but I can also see where he might have a higher worth to another team than here in the age of tight cap.
  18. If I am reading this tweet from Albert Breer correctly, these are the values for the 5th year options on Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds for 2022. Both players will receive the value under “Transition Players” Meaning the 5th year option on Josh will be $23,016,000 and the 5th year option on Tremaine will be $12,716,000.
  19. In the past few weeks I have seen the gamut of "these guys are busts" to "they have been out of position" to "they (mainly Oliver) are on the verge of breaking out". What are your assessment of these two, maybe, core players to build around?
  20. Now that the draft is over and the Bills have until Monday to decide on whether to pick up his 12.791M dollar 5th year option for the 2022 season. Was interested to see where fans stood on this.
  21. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-2021-fearless-forecasts-from-mvp-to-sack-leader-to-first-qb-benched-predictions-in-19-categories/ Interesting....Curious though.
