  1. No NFL GM is going to make a trade for EJ based on him starting and playing well in this preseason game. If a team is going to try and trade for him it will be based on his entire resume of college and NFL experience to this point. No team is going to need to see him start one more time in a meaningless preseason game without his top RBs and WRs. This line of thinking is silly to me.
  2. I am an admitted support of EJ and I am happy Rex is being true to his word and giving him a start in a preseason just as Cassel and Taylor had theirs. That said, I still don't believe that Rex/Roman see EJ as being on equal footing as Cassel and TT. In my opinion, this start is a formality and I expect EJ to only get 2 series or so with the starters. But is EJ looks fantastic, it could put him back in the competition. This makes Saturday's game more interesting. My expectation is that the final choice will come down to Cassel and Taylor. My personal preference would be for EJ or TT to start the season at QB and grasp the job for the next several years. Cassel, to me is a short term (1-2 yr) solution at best. But if he starts and plays well this year, I'm cool with that too. I just want playoffs.
  3. Maybe they should just Poll the 60,000 season ticket holders each week to see who they want to be the starter. I hate this argument for Cassel. His "experience" has shown that he's not that good. just because he's seen every possible defense a team could use against him doesn't mean he will necessarily be successful against it.
  4. I think Rex should allow Roman to start whomever he thinks can best run his offense. If that fails after a few weeks, then Rex would go to Roman and say "OK, we did it your way and its not working, now we do it my way". That being said, that might have transpired over the offseason. I have no way of knowing if it did or not. But its possible Greg and Rex got together and said "OK, Cassel starts the off season with a slight advantage". Then they go through the offseason QB "competition" to see if EJ or TT can overtake him. EJ (according to media types) has dropped out of the running. But if TT continues his solid play, he may just overtake Cassel for the #1 job.
  5. Well if he has No feeling, it can't get any worse, right?
  6. I think he was held out partially because the coaches knew he would get killed behind the second and third team O line
  7. In fairness, the Pats have picked up players we let go quite a bit recently. Chandler, Spikes and Branch off the top of my head. I could actually see EJ going to the Jets and having a shot to start fairly quickly.
  8. I believe that is a major reason Cassel did not play last night. I think Rex knew he would be a sitting duck back there with that porous OL (after the first team exited) and inexperienced backs and receivers. I'd be fine with TT and EJ as QB1 and QB2 with Cassel getting cut. Save the $4m and pass it along to Marcel.
  9. I understand your thought process. I just want to see the offense look cohesive and confident. I want the QB's to make good reads and good throws and take some shots dowfield. I want to OL to block well and I want the receivers to catch footballs that hit their hands. I have very low expectations of the run game with 3 nobodies at RB.
  10. I'm expecting under 50 pass attempts.
  11. lol. I didn't choose the font on purpose. that happens to my posts every now and then. Maybe its the universe telling me my opinion is less important than most.
  12. Sounds like one side or the other fed that to John to try to coax the other side to make a move. It will get taken care of.
  13. Its nice to have players you can be proud of. Well done, Marquise.
  14. Brady and Manning are 2 of the best QBs to ever play the game. To have the same expectations for Tyrod that you do for them is just setting yourself up for disappointment. and no. I think Rex sees EJ as the 3rd best QB out of the 3. I don't think this is gamesmanship. I think it is truly Rex trying to pick a QB who helps him win.
  15. Sure. You can get a sense of his pocket presence under pressure. His ability to make good decisions, go through progressions and make things happen with his legs when the play breaks down. You can't hold the overall effectiveness of the offense against him though since he won't have all the weapons at his disposal. I would imagine they will keep the playcalling very simple. Pass protection and blitz pickup will be sketchy with 2 guys at RB who don't know the system (and aren't any good anyway).
  16. The strange thing about these stats to me is that they only threw the ball 16 times combined (plus probably another 4-5 from Simms).
  17. For his sake, I hope its not a kidney stone. I've had several (currently still have multiple). VERY PAINFUL.
  18. They still haven't even played 1 preseason game. Lots of things can happen. Cassel isn't blowing away his competition. He has just been perfectly mediocre with less ups and downs. I'm waiting to see what happens in the first 2 games before coming to any conclusions about the QB competition. Regardless of how things go over the rest of camp, I will still be very surprised of EJ is cut. It doesn't do them any good as far as the Cap is concerned and I'm not sure they'll go into the season with just 2 QBs. Unless EJ is horrendous in game action or Simms looks great in his opportunities to play, I think Cassel, Taylor and EJ will all be on the roster in some order on Day 1 of the season.
  19. Could happen. Taylor would be the most interesting choice. Would add lots of excitement and intrigue. Definitely a much more "Boom or Bust" prospect as compared to Cassel. The next 7-10 days will be very telling in the QB battle.
  20. That's a fine idea but that QB will most likely not be ready to start at QB on a playoff caliber team with Super Bowl aspirations.
  21. Agreed. Especially when the starters are on the field.
  22. People hating on OBJ and making excuses for Sammy cracks me up. OBJ outperformed Sammy last year. Time will tell which guy is better. As of now OBJ is in the lead. He blew away Sammy's numbers in 4 fewer games.
  23. Not saying this is the case, but I wondered if they are intentionally giving EJ and Taylor more reps against the 2s and 3s and less against the starting Defense in an effort to build their confidence and put them in a position to succeed rather than getting killed on every play by one of the best defenses in the league. Just a thought. We will find out over the next few weeks.
  24. I'm a season ticket holder and have been bringing my son to games for years. He's twelve now and loves the Bills as much as I do. We haven't had many issues over the years. He has seen his share of drunken idiots and he's seen me have to handle a few of them in a calm, polite manner. I think it is wrong to think you can't bring kids to a game, unless the issue is that you can't stay sober yourself. This whole "party hard" thing is the problem. People feel like they are entitled to get plastered and act like idiots. If you can't go out and tailgate without getting plastered, you're an idiot and should not be allowed in the game. I enjoy tailgating and I have a couple beers. The Bills have been better an weeding out the drunken morons, they still have work to do. But it's getting better.
