PFF releases Bills 2015 depth chart
Maddog69 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
meh. I think their ranking on many guys is quite low. Mario is elite Watkins and Aaron Williams are atleast Good to Very Good Wood, Chandler and Colton Schmidt are Good. -
Bills listed at over/under 8.5 wins for 2015

I'll take the over. -
Any chance we bring in Gore?
-
Carr's 3 lowest completion percentage games were at the end of the season. Tell me again how he got better as the year went along? I think people see what they want to see. He had a nice rookie campaign and shows promise.
-
Its a lot of fun to play around with. I signed: Bradford, Mallett, Gore, Jahri Evans, Vernon Davis, Michael Oher, Ahmad Brooks, Kenrick Ellis. brought back Hughes and Searcy and still have cap room.
-
This is the make or break year for EJ. Competition will be brought in. It will be up to him to step up and take the starting job or sit back and become a career backup and still make more money than any of us will make in our lifetime. As for Carr, time will tell. I tend to believe his play has been a tad bit overhyped. He too needs to take the next step. It remains to be seen whether he will do that.

Why not look to solve the problem long term rather than a stop gap? Who says they will get a good QB next year. I would agree with you if they had a high #1 pick and were drafting a QB to groom behind a vet. But that is not the case. I'd like to find a guy who can be good now and potentially Very good down the road rather sign a Kyle Orton clone.

Different offensive game plans. The deep ball was never a part of Marrone's offense.
-
Based on what? He helped his team to 3 wins. He completed less than 60% of his passes in 8 games. Had a QB rating under 75 in 8 games. I think the "perception" follows that standard rule here: Our starting QB sucks and every QB around the league is better, until he becomes our starter and then he sucks.
-
I think Mallett will be reasonable. Probably an incentive laden deal. I would think He and McCown would get about the same. (McCown will probably get more just based on experience). I liked him coming out of college. Big, strong QB. Big arm. Good accuracy. Improved each year in college. He hasn't played much at all in the NFL so there's not much to go by. So it is definitely more of a calculated risk. Like I said before, I believe McCown is what he is. I think Mallett has a chance to be better than McCown can be and I'd rather take a chance than settle for mediocre.
-
Yes and Yes. I do believe EJ has upside. I still have hope for him. And Yes, I'd be comfortable with EJ and Mallett leading the team. Having 2 guys that have a chance to be good is better than just 1. I am fully comfortable with either of them as the backup. Signing McCown sets your bar at mediocre and challenges EJ to beat that. Signing Mallett sets open competition for the two of them and pushes both to strive for something better.
-
I would prefer that the Bills sign Mallett over McCown because Mallett has upside. McCown, like Orton, has a long enough track record that you know who he is. And who he is isn't good enough. Mallett has all of the physical tools and has sat behind Brady for several years. He'e learned under Belicheck and has looked pretty good when he's played. He at least has a chance to be good enough. Will he be? Nobody knows. But we already know about McCown. I'd be fine with McCown as a backup to either Mallett or EJ, though.

Bills to go in little-talked-about direction at QB?
Maddog69 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kolb was damaged goods. Orton was already retired and should have stayed that way. McCown atleast wants to play and can stand up without hurting himself. He's still not good, but in my opinion, better than the other two. -
Thanks for replying, guys/gals. It is interesting to see which horse each of you is picking in this race.
-
It doesn't really say the Colts are interested in Dareus. It says Dareus would be a good fit for Indy and it would be a big, bold move for Indy to acquire him for a first round pick. It is all opinion, speculation and fantasy.

I know there are a million threads about QBs. But I wanted to start this one to have it in one place. I want to see a post from each of you with the name of your #1 choice of QB that you would like to Bills to sign in Free agency. Leave off Manning and any of the trade options because none of them are definitely avialble. Of the available UFA's, who is the 1 name you want them to sign. This isn't really meant as a thread to debate who is the best. I just was interested in seeing who each of you had as your first choice. Mine is Ryan Mallett.

Bills to go in little-talked-about direction at QB?
Maddog69 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the major concern I would have with bringing in Sanchez (beside they fact that he's not very good). I want a true, open competition. -
I disagree with this. You cannot look at it in a vacuum. In my opinion, it is more than fair to look at the other players taken and speculate if our scouts should have been able to tell that the aggressive move up for Sammy was not necessary because similar talent was available without giving up so much. We could certainly use that extra #1 pick this year to find a OG, TE, RB or even QB. Yes, Sammy is probably going to be good, but OBJ and qa stud at another position of need would be better.

Report: Broncos could part ways with Manning
Maddog69 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Time will tell, but I disagree with your assessment. Nothing is clear right now. Unless he runs into further medical complications, I don't think he wants to retire. Denver's team is falling apart. They stand a good chance of losing Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and Welker. They'll probably be forced to tag D. Thomas, but that's a huge chunk of money on top of $19m for Manning. I think there is an excellent chance that Denver walks away from Manning and goes into full rebuild mode. -
Report: Broncos could part ways with Manning
Maddog69 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Manning decides to continue playing and Denver doesn't bring him back, I think there is an excellent chance he could be convinced to come to Buffalo. Do I expect this to happen? No. Will I be crushed if it doesn't? No. But it is fun to consider. Peyton is nearing the end of his career. He's not as good as he once was, but even now he is better than anyone we've have since JK. Its fun to think about the Bills playing against the Pats with Manning at QB. It is most likely just a fantasy. But, as Promo said, now that we have Pegula, most fans believe that almost anything is possible. I'd bet that Turbo has one. He LOVED Orton. This tells me the Broncos are the ones that are undecided. If Manning is working out and preparing to play, he has clearly decided. -
SF FA guard Mike Iupati (update: going to Cardinals)
Maddog69 replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would me interested to know how many of the "Lupati" posts are mistakes and how many are intentional. To me, if you can't spell the name of a player you want the Bills to sign, your opinion loses any validity.
