This is too funny.... Marrone trys for Jax OC
Maddog69 replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe Doug got some BAD advice from his agent. -
I have no idea if Glennon would be available but I would not mind seeing him brought in to compete. There aren't many options available, so everything should at least be considered.

Calling my shot...
Maddog69 replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would hate if they went out and spent big on a RB, no matter who it is. They need upgrades at OG, TE urgently and needs additions at other positions too. Too many examples of RBs that are found late in the draft or on the scrap heap. -
OSU's Cardale Jones considering NFL jump

As opposed to all of the draft prospect 'experts' on TBD who over valued QBs after watching them play for years.(Clausen, Pike, Quinn, Lefebvre, Mallett, Locker, etc). -

I would have no issue if the Bills took him at #50. The guy is a beast. His skill sets seems to match perfectly with our new OC. Definitely would add competition to the QB position on the roster. -
doesnt defense win championships
Maddog69 replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, when he had a good roster, he was able to make the AFC Championship game with a crappy QB, twice. When he had a ****ty roster, he didn't do so well. SHOCKING. Give him some talent and see what happens. -
An Injection of Facts Re QB recently Drafted

We should try to acquire pick #199 every year and always pick a QB. It worked once, it is guaranteed to work again, right? -

Stop it. Everyone here know that EJ is terrible. He has never thrown a quality pass in his life. Any completions were either dumb luck or brilliant catches by his wideouts. Every other QB who has ever thrown a pass is better than EJ and any coach worth hiring will not take the job as long as EJ is on the roster. -
Browns part ways with Kyle Shanahan

read an article yesterday about Kyle Shanahan being petty, childish and entitled. Sounds like Marrone. -
Bills GM wants next coach to revive EJ Manuel

and how many times could we have traded down for extra picks? Whaley wasted at least 15 first round picks. -

In fairness, Tannehill started 16 games in his first year. EJ still hasn't started 16. -

That's part of what bugs me about how EJ was handled. Getting benched (especially when they team had lots of other problems at the same time) completely submarined his leadership position. I wish the team had stuck with him, backed and supported him the way the Dolphins have with Tannehill. -

The difference is that so many want to be "right" in labeling EJ a bust and that, to me, is stupid. Those of us who are saying that EJ has not had enough time to prove one way or the other whether he is a bust or not will not be wrong if he ultimately proves not to be a quality NFL starter. -

Far too soon to call either one a bust, IMO. -

So you're pissed that our GM, who scouted EJ, spent a first round draft pick on him and has seen his work ethic over the last 2 years, supports bringing in a coach to help continue his development but you're OK with Hoyer (who shown to be terrible) and Sanchez as being better solutions? Bradford most likely wont be available and Cutler probably won't either. Both are solid options if they become available but both also have major faults and flaws. The whole point is, it make perfect sense for the GM to want to continue developing EJ. Nothing in these stories indicates that the GM would not also still be looking outside for better options. But until one becomes available, EJ is the guy. Like it or not. My expectation is that you will see EJ and Tuel in camp along with a guy like Hoyer, Matt Moore, or someone like that) and a draft pick. Let the best man win. Maybe the draft pick will come in and surprise like Wilson did and take the job away from the more experienced guys ahead of him. -

I'm waiting for you to respond with your solution for who the better option is at this point? I'll hang up and listen. LOL. -

OK. For the second time, who is your better option? Brady, Luck and Manning are not available. The way to get a good QB is to draft and develop one. Developing one does not happen overnight. -

Maddog69 replied to Joaquin1119's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. He's not telling coaches that EJ is the guaranteed starter and no other options will be provided. EJ is here to be developed. If the new coach can aide in the development to the point where EJ is the best QB on the roster, so be it. I've said a few times, the position will be addressed most likely in FA and the draft. -

OR Maybe the do have a QB, have a dynamic WR to show for that pick and we have an aggressive young GM who is building a winner. Like I said before, time will tell. Whaley does not appear to be afraid to take chances and Pegula had said in an interview last year that he liked people like that to be working for him. -

EJ should have started after the bye week once Orton proved that he was not markedly better and was getting similar (if not lesser) results to what EJ had done. This year was a complete waste. -

You have no way of knowing this for sure. So if a "good" candidate takes the job with EJ as the expected starter, will you think less of the candidate or re-evaluate your position on EJ? -

Do you have a suggestion for who should be the focal point? It is easy to say, but there aren't many options that are definitely available. A lot of people mention Brqadford, RG3, Foles or Cutler. There is an excellent chance that none of them are available. The list of pending UFAs is uninspiring, to say the least. So, you hate EJ. Who is your better option at this point? -

Maddog69 replied to Joaquin1119's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What else would you expect? They scouted EJ and decided he was worthy of a #1 pick. Do you think they will just throw him away after 14 starts? You would assume that, if all of the coaching candidates are telling them that EJ is unsalvageable, then the Pegulas would take that to heart and either dump Whaley or get him to put a plan together to upgrade the position. But if one of these innovative, offensive minds thinks he can make something out of EJ, that seems to make the most sense. I know a lot of the 'experts' at TBD have already decided that EJ is garbage and can never improve. I believe it is wise to the Bills to still have an open mind. They already wasted a 2015 first round pick to move up for Sammy last year, it isn't wise to throw their 2013 in the garbage heap so quickly. Not to mention that there is a terrifying lack of QB options available to them if they do decide EJ is beyond repair. Time will tell. I personally like the idea of Bevell, Reich, Hue Jackson or even Kyle Shanahan working with EJ. I imagine the Bills won't put all of their eggs in one basket, so I expect them to bring in a free agent (I like Mallett) and draft one (no clue who, I don't follow college ball very closely). -
HC hiring timeline - how long will it take?
Maddog69 replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still believe that the right coach can get EJ to play at a high level. The guy I like most is Bevell, followed by Reich. If the next HC/OC cannot help EJ become a quality starter, the team is in trouble. There is no obvious upgrade available at the position.
