Redskins make potentially brilliant GM hire...
Maddog69 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't all alcoholics say the same thing? The guy is a great talent evaluator but he's a ticking time bomb. If the Bills hired him, national media would lambast them for hiring a drunk. -
Package Deal? (Mike & Kyle Shanahan)
Maddog69 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was talking about Kyle Shanahan being as qualified for a HC interview as any of the other young OC's. Your reply appears to be about his father. -

Maddog69 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would suggest that Kyle has as many qualifications (if not more) to be an NFL HC as most of the candidates the Bills interviewed so far (Reich, Gase, Quinn, Bevell, etc). Not saying he would be my #1 choice, just that he is on par with many of the other names being considered. Somebody has to be the first to do it. Why not Shanny? -
Which team makes the first HC hire?
Maddog69 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You missed a half dozen "obviously"s. I think Atlanta or the Jets make the first hire. -
I was thinking this same thing. Most of the time the discussions with college coaches are kept quiet so as not to impact recruiting. I have no clue if the Bills considered any college HCs. They may have reached out via intermediaries and been rejected. They may also have been hesitant to go the college route again after Marrone. We may never know, but I'd like to think they have atleast explored the idea and it just hasn't leaked to the media.

Bills may be trying to sign Bradham to extension
Maddog69 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bradham doesn't need to be re-signed this year either. All I'm saying is that they shouldn't break the bank for him. If someone wants to overpay for him next off season, so be it. -

They also need to re-sign Dareus, Gilmore and Glenn too. I would put all 3 before Bradham. -

He's good and I'd like to keep him. But I doubt the Bills will break the bank to do so. If he will accept a reasonable extension, great. If not. Too many other priorities. -
Better add Andy Dalton to list of possible Quarterbacks
Maddog69 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mallett is a UFA this offseason, right? He is probably the best available option for the Bills to add at this point. -

I'd be happy with Dalton as our QB. He's not great, but he is certainly better than any of the alternatives that have been suggested so far. -
HC hiring timeline - how long will it take?
Maddog69 replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
they've reportedly already interviewed 5 already and possibly had preliminary conversation with others. My thinking is that they might actually like 1 or 2 of the initial candidates enough that they cut the list shorter than the reported 10 or so. Like I said. I expect a coach hired by the end of next week. Quite possible it happens more quickly. We will see. I'm not worried about it. They will find a guy they like. -

I want a coach who wants to be here, not one looking for the best offer. I'm not worried about hiring quickly, I'm worried about hiring correctly. -

R-E-L-A-X Panicking gave them Marrone last time. They are doing a thorough search and will hopefully find the right coach this time (which ultimately won't matter unless they find a QB). -

New coach will be hired before the end of next week. Probably by this weekend. -
My Q.B. choice 2015 draft Bryce Petty
Maddog69 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is exactly what I was thinking. I would love this idea. -
Do you want the new stadium domed or open field?
Maddog69 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to love the idea of an open air stadium with weather being a factor. I used to buy into the idea that the cold/snow was a home field advantage for the Bills. As I've aged, I have completely changed my mind. First, the cold/snow is not an advantage because most of the players aren't from here and are not accustomed to the cold. Secondly, and more importantly, a covered (whether it is a dome or some other indoor stadium design) would change the customer base. It would allow for a more mature and more wealthy base of customers. I believe you would see more upscale people, more older fans and more families attending games. I believe there would be a reduction in the number of drunken idiots and twenty something's causing general mayhem. I think a covered/indoor stadium is going to happen and I think it is the right way to go. -
Cordy Glenn early season injury mystery
Maddog69 replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't believe that we have a right to know. I do find it interesting that the illness/injury never became public knowledge since most of them usually do. I would be interested to know if whatever the issue was has any effect on his subpar play this year. If he is fighting some sort of chronic condition, it could reduce his effectiveness as a player. -
I would not mind bringing in Foles, but I don't believe Philly would trade him.

Would You Welcome Back Marshawn if he was Available?
Maddog69 replied to Cmmd Ackbar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
YES -
So did Warren Moon and Doug Flutie
-
I think Hackett will be back unless Marrone is also gone.
-
Mallett or Sanchez would be at the top of my list out of that group.

Rumor: Polian could return as soon as Monday
Maddog69 replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having Pegula right two of the biggest wrongs of the Ralph Wilson ownership (the Toronto series and the firing of Polian) would be epic. I don't get how anybody would not see this as a great positive for the franchise. You know that Polian will not be afraid to tell Terry and Kim exactly what he believes needs to be done to make the Bills a championship team again. I can't think of a better way to start the Pegula ownership than to bring back Bill Polian. I realize he a abrasive and has a short shelf life before tensions rise, but he's in his 70's, bring him back for a few years and let him straighten things out and ride off into the sunset. -

Maddog69 replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense to Whalley, but he couldn't hold a candle to Polian's track record. Polian built three different teams into winners. His Bills and Colts team went to SuperBowls. He took the expansion Carolina Panthers to an NFC Championship (they went to the Superbowl after he left). The man knows how to build a winner. Whalley has done some good things, and some really questionable things. I'd be very happy to have Polian running the show and Whalley learning from the master or sending more dirty emails around the league. -

Maddog69 replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FYI - it has been confirmed that Polian accepting a job with the Bills would not influence his eligibility for the HOF. He does not have to wait for the vote before accepting a job. Maybe he has a bonus in his TV deal or a requirement that he stays until a certain date. Maybe this is all B.S. Who knows. But there sames to be a lot of smoke around this story and I would be happy to welcome Bill Polian back. The biggest mistake Ralph ever made was firing Bill.
