  1. Agreed...I think this is Rex and Roman acknowledging that EJ has improved and fully understanding he has arm ability the other two do not...So this is their way of saying...OK kid...Go out there and win the job...And if not they know they are AOK with TT...Or even Cassel...Though admittedly I'm not a big Cassel guy...
  2. That's the way I thought this would go anyway... I just think EJ will continue to improve under Roman, and if the Bills really do run the ball like they want to run the ball EJ would likely get in there by mid-season...Then I would expect him to be the starter from there on because his skill set and ability to make every throw makes him potentially dynamic on a top rushing offense... That is assuming TT does not light it up like the next Russell Wilson..Either way...Win/Win...
  3. Well...Who knows... I do know this much though...If this Bills team trades a 25 year old QB with EJ's upside and he goes on to be a good QB in this league...TT and Cassel better be awfully good...I mean...really, really good...
  4. Oh man this should be interesting... I'm not going to read too much into this except the obvious fact that EJ has improved enough for them to want to see him with the 1's vs another teams 1's in an actual game...I think that's all this is...But I also like the decision...
  5. Just looked it up...The Bills were 12-4 the past two seasons at Home vs the spread...And this is a MUCH better team... Now...I'm sure somebody can come up with the underdog-at-home-winning-outright stat...But I'm guessing it's pretty good...
  6. Can't disagree...It's a very similar line of thinking to mine...Though I don't mind the idea of TT either...At least until Roman feels EJ is ready... If in fact the Bills feel that EJ just needs a little more seasoning under Roman I'm fine with that...As long as they have a plan...I do think the very idea of writing EJ off for a guy like Cassel is the kind of thing an NFL team should never, ever do...Ever...But maybe that's just me...
  7. I've never thought that EJ did not get a shot...I do however think there's a good chance that these coaches recognize he needs to be coached up and see his potential...and even some improvement to this point...I don't think it's any coincidence that Cassel and TT were able to grasp things quicker than EJ...That much was pretty easy to predict...They have experience in the NFL under real offensive coaching...EJ does not...I've just felt from the get-go that EJ has the biggest upside of the three and the plan would be to bring him along like Roman did with Kaepernick...So my frustration has mainly been with this assumption that EJ was done and would be cut...I just can't fathom the logic in it...
  8. Totally agree...Especially the depth now...The starter situation is still a bit of an unknown...But all three look much better than most thought they would... I can't think of many off the top of my head...But I think I'm safe in assuming the list of #2 QB's in the NFL that are better than any of these three is pretty short...Granted we don't have one of the elite guys...But it does look like at least one of these three can be a mid-level NFL starter...
  9. This is a GREAT point...SO true...
  10. Like him or not no one can deny EJ is, at the very least, the QB equivalent of a tease...He's got just about every single thing you look for in a franchise QB...He just has to put it all together...And that may or may not ever happen...But even the most experienced coaches understand if it does happen it can mean BIG things for an offense...I don't see how Rex and Roman can avoid the temptation of seeing EJ with the 1's for at least one or two series this preseason... But we'll see...At this point rotating all three is going to be tough...
  11. I don't disagree...I definitely think the Bills look better at the skill positions overall...And if the Bills can be a top 5 running team it's going to make a huge difference no matter who the QB is...I just worry that Cassel is at the tail end of a steady decline...And the TD/INT numbers over his last 26 starts scares me... I don't know...I just don't get a good feeling about Cassel...I kind of get that Orton/Fitz vibe..But I fully admit he's capable of surprising me...Especially considering he's got Sammie, Shady, Clay, and all...
  12. Don't trust Cassel at all... I mean...He was definitely a good QB once...But it sure seems as if the NFL figured him out...Some folks around here want to judge EJ negatively based on his first 14 starts under a HC/OC who were clueless while heading up a run first offense that could not run the ball...Those same folks should be MUCH more concerned about the veteran...Cassel has a MUCH bigger recent sample to go off of and it's not exactly pretty... The last 4 seasons...26 starts (9-17 record)...515/871 (59%)...30 TD's to 34 INT's...19 fumbles...63 sacks... I'm OK with giving TT a shot...Not so much with Cassel...I think he might have a decent game or two before they figure him out again...Then it will likely get ugly...
  13. I heard it...He was all fired up...Good for him!
  14. Exactly... I got the feeling this AM while listening the Jeremy and Matthew that they (especially Matt) were more interested in arguing against EJ because they had been SO vocal in predicting his demise than arguing against him because they truly felt he could not get the job done...It's just a feeling I get when people get SO defensive...Matthew actually sounded angry that Bills fans were backing EJ...He was getting worked up about it... I'm not saying that I think EJ will be the starter...But I do think there are some in the Buffalo media that are clearly getting a little nervous...
  15. Totally agree... These are really smart football minds (Ryan/Roman)...I think they fully understand EJ's potential and how Marrone pretty much derailed him...I think they are going to build him up again without putting too much undo pressure on him too early...And it seems like it's working...
  16. Happy for EJ...He deserves some joy after being thrown out there with that rag-tag bunch...
  17. Totally sucks...I was pretty high on him as a WR2 that might perform like a WR1 in Fantasy...Oh well...
  18. So true...I know I've mentioned this a few times, but Mayock was really the first one to move EJ way up his board...I remember the day he did it...But from the start Mayock used the "clay" analogy with EJ...And even though he saw great potential in EJ, MM was crystal clear about the fact that EJ was not ready to start yet...He basically said that EJ had everything you look for from a physical standpoint, but it would take time...And it would be best for him to sit behind a vet for a year or two...So...That's coming from one of EJ's most vocal supporters...I think it's obvious now how he should have been handled...And how still he should be handled based on his first two years under Marrone...
  19. I really believe if you give Roman a full year with EJ...with the talent around him now...He could develop into a Top 10-12 QB in this league...And that will be plenty good enough to win and compete with this roster...
  20. Right... EJ's 25 years old...He's 6-5...And he clearly has the best arm of all three QB's...He has had some success in the NFL despite starting his career with a rookie HC and OC in a run first offense that could not run the ball...I think he has improved in this camp...And considering how hard it is to find QB's, and how he's relatively inexperienced at this point...especially in this offense...Why cut him? I think the comparisons to Tannehill, and how he was developed are so valid... Tannehill's first 16 games...282/484 (58.3%)...12 TD's/13 INT's...211 yds rushing with 3 rushing TD's...Sacked 35 times EJ's first 14 games...256/437 (58.6%)...16 TD's/12 INT's...238 rushing yard with 3 rushing TD's...Sacked 34 times... Can it get any more even than that? Of course the difference comes in how they were handled...The fish stuck with Tannehill, let him learn, and now he's coming off a pretty nice season with a 92.8 QB rating completing 66.4% of his passes...27 TD's to only 12 INT's...Plus he added 311 yards rushing...EJ was benched after 4 games in his sophomore year by a couple college coaches...Big difference right? I just don't see the logic in cutting EJ...It would literally make no sense to me assuming he continues to improve...And the reports I heard from just yesterdays practice alone seem to indicate he's slowly getting better...
  21. I completely agree with this...And I think Tannehill is a perfect example...Look at his rookie season and compare that to EJ's first 14 games...It really was not until last season that Tannehill started showing the consistency necessary to be a legit NFL QB... I mean...Lets face it...EJ has not had a ton of help in getting where he needs to go...It all started with the Kolb injury...Then he hurts his knee more than once as a rookie...Then he gets benched after 4 games in only his second season...Not to mention the run first offense that can't run the damned ball worth a crap, etc... That's not to say EJ does not deserve some of the credit for his problems, but it's not like he's had it easy either...I think if the right mind (like Roman) takes the time and has patience with EJ he could pay back the investment big time...
  22. A few more... 42 - Butch Byrd 80 - Moulds 89 - Tasker 56 - Talley 68 - Joe D 90 - Hansen 92 - Big Teddy 95 - KW 94 - Schobel 20 - Henry 88 - Metz 37 - Odomes 51 - Ritcher I'm sure I'll think of more...
