  1. You have to admit...Rex is a funny, funny dude...
  2. As a 1st Round QB prospect Cook does nothing for me... And before anyone comes out guns-a-blazing I realize there are many, many different ways to evaluate a College QB...None of which are foolproof... That being said...If I'm a GM...I'm not putting a 1st Rd grade on any College QB with a completion percentage below 60% in their final College season...I'm just not doing it... I see Cook as a 2nd-3rd Round developmental type...That's not to say he won't develop into a fine NFL QB in time...But like Cousins I think it's going to take a few years...And that's why I would not touch him in the 1st round...Because in today's NFL if you take a QB in the 1st he's not going to get much time to develop...Maybe a year...But chances are the team that needs him is going to need him fast...And I think if Cook gets rushed in he'll crumble...Like he did last night...
  3. While this debate is going on about Rex I think it's important to look at Rex's Defenses over the past couple years rather than fall back on the success he had overall in the past because the league is always changing...And if you're not getting better...well... The truth is Rex's Defenses have been in the bottom third of the league for two consecutive years in the key...I mean key...category of 3rd down conversion percentage...That's not good for a guy that prides himself on his ability to confuse opposing QB's...The Bills are 16th in scoring Defense this year...The Jets were in the bottom 3rd of the league in scoring Defense in 2013 and 2014... Honestly...I get that Rex has had some great Defenses in the past...But the last 3 years I think there is at least a bit of evidence that the NFL has caught up to him...And if that trend continues, the next couple years could get really messy...
  4. The bolded made me laugh out loud...Maybe that says a lot about me...But it was still funny...
  5. I would take a flyer on Jones any day...But I'm sure you know more than I do about he kid Yolo...He just seems to have everything physically...
  6. What?... Seriously? No...No way...
  7. Exactly... No matter what they better get insurance and a young QB to develop...If for no other reason than the impending contract situation...But certainly there are a bunch of other reasons as well... All good points... The lack of urgency and efficiency in clock management was well beyond frustrating at times...What happened at the end of the half yesterday should never, ever happen...Ever...That was a joke...And it's been going on all year...
  8. I think year one for TT was certainly good enough... But he's going to need to take another big step in year two... The third down efficiency was simply not good enough (20th in the league at around 37%)...And IMHO that was a lot of what you pointed out...One read, scramble and run...And when coupled with the fact that the Bills Defense is 23rd in stopping opponents on 3rd down...It was a real bad mix this season... On a side note Rex's Jets D was 30th...30th in the league in stopping opponents on 3rd down in 2014!!! And you guessed it...The Bills D under Schwartz was 1st in the league in that category...So...
  9. You have got to be kidding me... What a joke...
  10. The lack of pass rush is just crazy...Nothing...
  11. This play calling...Good grief...
  12. Yes...Yes it does...
  13. After the way this team has struggled mightily with clock management this season that last minute just proved they have done nothing to improve on it... I like Tyrod...But there is no excuse for that garbage...Just terrible...
  14. Worse than embarrassing... I literally can't believe what I just saw...
  15. Honest to God I can't believe that last play... You let that much time run off the clock and don't even throw the freaking ball in the end-zone? Good grief...
  16. So... Sammy returning to decoy status today?
  17. That should have been a TD to Butler...
  18. TT will be the obvious choice to start in 2016...I don't think many Bills fans doubt that... But that certainly does not mean you can't keep trying to do better... I mean...Technically almost all good QB's got Drafted at one point or another...Draft and try to develop...It can't hurt...
  19. Maybe reined in was a poor choice of words... Look...I like Whaley...I would not fire him...But it's not like the guy is perfect either...I was not a big fan of the Sammy trade...I fundamentally disagree with giving up a future #1 to trade up for anything other than a QB...And I feel like Whaley should have known better...I said I would prefer to keep him...But maybe he's so perfect he can't be constructively criticized? I'm glad you're sold on TT...Really I am and I hope you're right...I'm not...I'm guardedly optimistic... But I want to keep pushing hard for an upgrade whenever possible... That's all...
  20. This whole Polian thing is lame if you ask me... Pegs is smart enough...If I'm the Bills owner there is no way I'm getting rid of Whaley unless I have a major-viable replacement, and there's no way I'm keeping Rex... I just think Whaley has to be reined in a bit...My conversation with him would be something like..."I don't want to hear about being in purgatory, I just want to hear how we're going to get out of it..." As far as Rex is concerned the worry that it could actually get a lot worse before it gets better trumps my belief that he can fix it fast enough...I don't believe in the guys ability as a HC anymore...I thought he would be a nice fit...I was dead wrong...
  21. Rex certainly was a good Defensive coach...I think there is a question now as to how effective his schemes are...Granted he has history on his side...But where Rex's Defenses have ranked in the past have absolutely nothing to do with today...And to say this Defense underachieved in Rex's first year is a bit of an understatement...Especially considering Rex was the guy telling us they would be even better in 2015...I think his exact words were "maybe the most talents he's ever had on Defense..." The level of disappointment in Rex has brought me to the point where I believe it's better to cut ties now and save a year we'll never get back...Unless the objective is a complete tank job...I just think he did a terrible, terrible job as a HC this year...It was well beyond what I expected the worst case scenario could be with the level of talent on this team...Not to mention we got better QB play than we have for a long while... The idea that they will get better under Rex just because it's a new season...another year in the system...is a bit of a gamble IMHO considering they have limped to a 3-6 record in the last 9 games when they should have been getting better...In the last 6 games they have scored a whopping 20 points combined in the 4th quarter, while giving up 31...Some of the 4th quarter team and clock management has been laughably awful...Looking lost on both sides of the ball...Taking stupid pre-snap penalties...They are regressing...Are we to believe that will not continue next year? I don't expect Rex to be fired...I really don't...But personally I would can him...I just don't think he's got it anymore...Hopefully he proves me terribly wrong...
  22. I respectfully disagree... And for the record I doubt very much that the Bills will can Rex...I just think they should...I think Whaley should stay though... Each and every situation is different...This is not just more of the same thing because each individual coach brought his own supposed strengths and weaknesses...And the right coach can turn things around fast...Admittedly finding that HC is not the easiest thing to do...But still...It's do-able...There has to be at least one more Bruce Arians out there... I just think...and it's only my opinion...that Rex's ways don't work in the 2015 version of the NFL...And if I'm right there is no reason to stretch this thing out...Granted I could be wrong as well... Rex was brought in to take what was basically a .500 team and turn them into a 10-6 Playoff team...minimum...Growing pains were absolutely not expected, especially if you listened to Rex himself...The Bills upgraded at QB, RB, both OG's, TE, and CB this past off-season...Yet they regressed on the field...How is that possible if you have good coaching? The answer is...It's not possible...IF you have good coaching...The Bills did not...At least not from the Head Coaching/Defensive Coordinator position they didn't... You want to keep it the same for the sake of continuity? Fine...But understand and admit the inherent risks in that strategy upfront...This roster is going to be turned over again for the sake of scheme...We're still going to have a run 1st, three yards and a cloud of dust, HC who will build his team around a running game and a Defensive scheme that may very well be past it's time...A Head Coach that wants to stubbornly buck the current trends of a passing league...A HC that despite his reputation of being a players coach was unable to get the best out of his players...A HC who presided over a terribly undisciplined team and seemingly had no answer for it...A Head Coach that could not get his team to steal games late...due in some part to terrible late game and clock management...And in today's NFL being very good in the last 5 minutes of games is essential if you want to be a Playoff team... You want to assume that things will improve due to continuity...go right ahead...You may be right...But if your wrong this thing is going to look pretty awful in a couple years when it becomes glaringly obvious Rex must go...But heck...Maybe he'll run it into the ground bad enough for the Bills to get a crack at #1 overall and a Franchise QB...So actually...That may not be the worst strategy...
  23. I really doubt Whaley gets shown the door...But the later part of that statement is pretty much what I think is going to happen...I'm quite a bit less than optimistic Rex will be able to turn this thing around...
