  1. LOL!! BFW1234 has 146 posts and about 25 of them either just say "Brohm" or include his opinion that he will be the starting QB. Are you a relative of Brohm??
  2. GR8PRKN has been waived from the Practice Squad!! 8-4??!! You going to stop playing after 12 games??
  3. My local paper (Sacramento Bee, a McClatchy paper) had these notes on Leslie Frazier: "A former Chicago Bears defensive teammate of Mike Singletary on the Super Bowl XX championship team, Frazier worked his way up the ranks as a defensive backs coach before becoming a highly regarded defensive coordinator in Minnesota. He's said to be a leader of men with a high football IQ. Look for Frazier to become the Buffalo Bills' new coach as soon as this week and for him to have a longer NFL coaching career than Pete Carroll in Seattle." The "He's said to be a leader of men with a high football IQ." line reminds me too much of someone else once part of the Bears organization.
  4. He lacks vision into holes. He ends up in Beast Mode most of the time because he runs into his blockers or the defense. He had a few decent runs this year on counter plays but F.Jackson is much more consistently productive.
  5. I noticed that Saturday's NFL schedule was risky as both games were on NBC with the 1st game starting at 4:30 PM Eastern time and allotted 3.5 Hours with the 2nd game starting at 8:00 PM. I wonder what their plan was if the 1st game went into overtime, and especially extended overtime, not a minute plus like the Arizona/Green Bay game.
  6. I'm sure some of you caught this. At the start of the 2nd half of the Baltimore/New England game, the Pats go three-aqnd-out so Chris Hanson comes in to punt and shanks it out at the 30 yard line for about a 30 yard kick. One of his teammates (#50- Rob Ninkovich) was obviously close to the sideline mike about where the ball went out, turns around towards Hanson and yells out "C'mon Chris!! You Moron!!" That was hilarious!!
  7. Yes, like John Fox. And how many people heard of Atlanta's Mike Smith before he took that job and put the Falcons in the playoffs his 1st season?? I still think the ownership & management of the Bills makes it difficult for anybody to be successful. Now, Mularkey & Greg Williams both didn't last here but were being interviewed for other jobs back then. The Bills also interviewed Fox. How can they keep getting it wrong?? Same with the QBs?
  8. Might still find someone to trade for him. Too bad that the teams that would normally take a chance, like Cincinnati, Oakland & Dallas, already have strong stables of RBs.
  9. I would not use a 1st round pick on any of these guys. I would rather the Bills used 1st 2 rounds on OT & LB then look at the likes of LeFlour, Levi Brown, etc. in the 3rd or 4th. Nobody worthwhile in free agency either. Hopefully the new coaching staff, Nix, etc. consider all positions open for competition. I did not like the move of last off-season in signing a "backup" QB so as not to put pressure on Edwards when we could have had a more proven guy like Kitna who could've taken over the starting position and done something with it. Also, considering the QB drafting crapshoot and different paces of development, we also may have a strong QB candidate in Brohm, a former 2nd round pick.
  10. I analyzed which teams may be wanting to draft a quarterback and there are few who might even use an early round pick on one: AFC East Bills- YES!!!! Dolphins- I'd say No- Pennington may or may not be able to recover from his latest shoulder injury but Henne performed well enough for being inexperienced. Pats- No- Brady bounced back and is only 32 Jets- No- just got Sanchez AFC North Steelers- No- have big Ben Bengals- No - C.Palmer only 30 Browns- maybe- B.Quinn has had 3 years but like the Bills with Losman, I think they give him a 4th year to make it Ravens- No- have Flacco AFC South Colts- No- Manning soon to be 34 but they don't need to do anything yet Texans- No- have Schaub Titans- No- should wait & see if the 2nd half of this year shows V.Young finally the guy Jags- No- Garrard does good enough AFC West Chargers- No- Rivers Broncos- probably not as Orton did well enough & it wasn't his fault for team's late collapse Chiefs- No- huge investment in Cassell, who did OK, so he'll get at least another year Raiders- ??? but probably 1st likely team to think about drafting one- you never know what Al Davis is thinking but speculation is he'll give the big investment in J.Russell more time. They also have Gradkowski, Frye & JP NFC East Giants- No- Eli Eagles- No- McNabb with Kolb waiting in wings Skins- probably not- Shanahan said he's looking forward to working with Campbell, which could be blowing smoke but I say he tries to work with him for a year Cowboys- No- Romo- unless he really stinks it up tonight or gets injured NFC North Pack- No- Rodgers- Lions- No- just drafted Stafford Bears- No- just got Cutler- despite his # of INTs, he should be given more time Vikes- Maybe- could be time to draft Favre replacement NFC South Tampa- No- just got Freeman Saints- Hell No- Brees Panthers- probably- Delhomme was horrible so it depends what they think of Moore Falcons- No- Ryan NFC West Niners- probably not- I think Alex Smith showed enough to be given another year Seahawks- maybe- Hasselbach getting old & brittle. Carroll may want to draft his own guy Arizona- probably not- Warner old but depends on what they think about Leinhart's development Rams- very likely- Bulger aging & brittle and Boller a free agent So, counting Bills, that's 7 teams that may be looking to draft a QB in early rounds
  11. Yep. There are 34 Bowl Games this year, including the BCS Championship. So, 68 teams make a bowl game. There are 120 Division I FBS teams so more than half the teams play in a bowl game.
  12. I wasn't too impressed by Hangartner at Center. Saw too many plays where a tackle pushed him back into the backfield. Putting a healthy Wood at center and Incognito at guard sounds like the best plan.
  13. After watching this last game and seeing how the Colts helped both Reggie Wayne & Dallas Clark each get 100 receptions for the season and the Bills made a point of getting Fred Jackson to 1,000 yards rushing, it again crossed my mind what a disgrace it was that the Bills coaching staff let T.O.'s "Consecutive Games with a Reception Streak" end. All they had to do is throw him a flanker screen, even if it didn't gain anything. This was another point of how clueless Jauron was. Detractors can say the game was more important than individual statstics but there was no reason you couldn't do both. Living in the SF Bay Area during Jerry Rice's time with both the Niners & Raiders, I saw many games at the end of Rice's career where the coaching staff got him the ball early to continue his streak and a few times he didn't catch another ball in the game. I actually was impressed with Owens behavior this season compared to how he's been in the past. It is amazing that he didn't react when his streak was ended by the clueless Bills staff.
  14. I think that's a wrinkle in the paper like the one on the left red border just above Edwards' head. Also, look at the size of Jaruis Byrd's right arm. That's not the arm of a 180# DB, more like for a lineman. The players They usually try and make group photos symmetrical. Since the players are in numeric order from left to right, I think the left half of the 1st row was moved over one spot due to the removal of Jauron. The removal of Jauron does seem kind of tacky since he was the coach for half the season. It's a tough call, though. Do you want someone on your team photo that you fired??
  15. Perhaps when Jauron frequently said "We like the guys we have", Fewell wasn't one of the "We"??
  16. I think a post the other day hit the nail on the head: Ralph waited to see if Jauron took advantage of the bye week to make some improvements to make a difference. Even though the game was tied after 3 Qtrs, the embarrassing final score was status quo. The last 7 games will also be a good chance for evaluation of current players. Now, there may be nobody left from the coaching staff or personnel dept for next season, but some evaluations can be made with a different coach now with a different style. AFter the season, it'll be interesting to see if a new GM is hired before the draft with new player personnel evaluators or they let the current team prep for the draft & free agency. I'd rather see the new team in place to make their own decisions on players. Otherwise you end up with scenarios like drafting players for the Tampa 2 and then have a new coach with a different defensive philosophy. I'm hoping we get the right mix of GM & coaches to develop the right team for playing in Buffalo winters. In other words, the big defensive players along with O-Line instead of these schemes relying on quickness. And please no QB that grew up & played collegiately in California or any other warm weather states. All that being said, Shanahan was successful with his zone blocking scheme that used quick O-linemen playing in Denver where winter hits even earlier than in Buffalo. So, hiring him would not necessarily require changes to O-Line. Actually, don't the Bills currently have one of the biggest O-Lines in the league based on weight??
  17. Yeah, that always makes it a risky proposition. Most people want the promotion and added responsibilities but if you don't do well in the new position, you can't go back to your previous position which you may be better suited for.
  18. I hated that move from the start. Being a Fantasy Football player, I saw what Fitzpatrick did to the stats of Ochocinco & Houseurmama. They rarely averaged 10 yards a reception. He could not throw downfield (and/or wasn't allowed to). He has kind of surprised me with some of his deeper throws this season. As has been discussed frequently, it doesn't matter who's at QB if the O-Line can't give them time. The likes of Bledsoe & Rob Johnson would stand back there for 4, 5 or 6 seconds and get sacked. This year, I don't know how frequently either QB has had even 4 secs?? Even if the team determines that Edwards is not the guy, I still would focus the 1st round of the next draft on another O-lineman. If there are none to justify the draft position, then consider other positions. By the way, here's a vote for Jim Harbaugh as next coach. The guy has done wonders at Stanford. Hire him & then in 2 years he can try to get his QB Andrew Luck. That kid has "it". No fear of throwing downfield for him.
  19. Holmgren is a very good coach but I don't know about being GM. His success in Green Bay was with Ron Wolf as GM. In Seattle he was given total control but then he gave up GM job becuz he was spread too thin. I think the Super Bowl year was after he gave up GM duties.
  20. You mean bringing Marv back?? Don't laugh. Would you really be surprised if this happened, at least on an interim basis for the rest of the season??
  21. For whatever it's worth, according to Marv Levy in his book, he recommended Polian who he had worked with before so Ralph didn't stumble onto him. I'm still of the opinion that Levy was an average coach who was given the fantastic talent that led to his success. He was frequently outcoached in big games however (Ex: Super Bowl 25) and he could've done a better job with the Bickering Bills and with the team reaction to Thurman's fumble returned for a TD to start the 2nd half of Super Bowl 28 that just tied the game. Leaving TT by himself to sulk was not the way to handle the latter. But, give Marv a kudo for recommending Polian.
  22. I'm not so sure the Bills would've taken Willis had he been available. Remember Levy's post-draft comments that they had 3 players targeted for their 1st round pick and they were all still available??? He also was happy that they actually got two of them, with getting Poz in the 2nd. This past draft, they were probably set on taking Maybin that they wouldn't have picked Crabtree if he was still there. The holdout aside, Crabtree is an impact player. while Maybin is a project. Living in No Cal, it's annoying seeing the Niners with both Willis (especially him) & Crabtree that were taken the pick before the Bills. Willis IS the key to the success of the Niners defense. Looking back, I'm still amazed at some of the personell decisions made this offseason when Jauron knew he was in a make-or-break situation. Signing TO led us to believe that they were committed to winning but trading Peters, drafting the project in Maybin and two interior offensive linemen that became starters reflected just the opposite. Add to that the Langston Walker issue & adding Bell to the OL inexperience and these moves made no sense for a coach that needed his team to win to keep his job.
