  1. Flutie!! Flutie!! Anyone want to buy my box of Flutie Flakes?
  2. Plus, there's his attitude with not showing up for the OTAs. C'mon Marv, get rid of all those slackers!! McGahee, Vincent, Villarial, Schobel, Clements!!
  3. I still had to laugh though when watching that movie, Buffalo 66, when, like 3 years later, the Anjelica Huston character is watching a tape of the game acting as if the kick might be good this time.
  4. The 2005 season ended in early January. They've had over 4 months to vacation and do other things. At least there are no Bruce Smith's around. I remember one year when he waited til right before training camp to have a minor surgery.
  5. Perhaps Bennie Anderson is looking to just get cut now??
  6. Fletcher will have new responsibilities in the new defense. Would be better to get a start on them now. He has been decent in pass coverage before, but it would be good if he was in there. They say, well they can pick it up in training camp. Players, especially starters, that aren't participating in these OTAs will slow down the learning process come training camp. Because it'll be new to them, they won't understand things or make mistakes they might not make if they knew the system better. ANy vets that have been there will have their progress slowed by the "slackers".
  7. Exactly. Look at the stats. He'll have a game against the likes of Houston with 3 sacks and another game of a couple. The rest of the season he doesn't provide much of a threat. Other than the sacks, he doesn't provide a consistent pass rush. He generally is also handled one-on-one. He doesn't require a double-team.
  8. You can actually look at the Peerless trade in two ways. First there is the trade to get a 1st round pick. I think that turned out to be a great move. Some may say you need to evaluate what was done with that 1st round pick. I say weigh just the trade and take the use of the pick separately. Thatbeingsaid, the use of the pick is still up in the air to me. It was used in a risk on McGahee. He has recovered from that knee injury but the overall package he provides still has yet to be determined. I'd want a couple more years to evaluate that choice. The 2004 season was not enough to evaluate. If he can have a comparable season in the next two, then the pick was a good one.
  9. Maybe he was a Magic Johnson-type point guard (i.e. wide body)??
  10. He sure isn't off to a great start in grabbing hold of the starting position based on what I've been reading about the OTAs.
  11. Yes, the Bledsoe move has set the Bills back. I'd say failure to sign Pat Williams as 2nd. His loss led to major drop of the defense in 2005 but can be corrected with the offseason moves and change of defense. Quarterback position is still a mess.
  12. I think 9-7 is possible. Four of the 11 losses in 2005 were by 6 pts or less so it could've easily been 9-7. Looking at the schedule, both games vs the Jets are winnable. The Miami rivalry doesn't matter what records were. A win in Buffalo is very possible. One win vs New England is a possibility. Other AFC games at home vs Tennessee and at Houston are very winnable. The Ravens were only 6-10 last season and didn't improve a lot so that's a winnable game. The Chargers could slip with Rivers at QB and that game is in Buffalo in December. Looking at the NFC games, Detroit and Green Bay will be very beatable. Minnesota was lucky to be 9-7 as they scored about 40 pts less than they gave up. That is an early home game for Buffalo so it's winnable. That's 11 winnable games. Winning 9 of them is possible.
  13. We're talking professional sports here, people. Anything can happen. I bet there isn't one person, and I'm including Lindy Ruff and Darcy Regier, that thought the Sabres would be in the Eastern Conference Finals right now. We've had several Bills' teams in recent years with lofty expectations that strongly disappointed. Perhaps we're due for the opposite to happen. In today's NFL there have been many instances of quick turn-arounds. Never say never!
  14. Will he have a couple years?? He's taken on a very stressful position. We don't know how he'll handle it. Despite the questionable moves that make Marv and this franchise a laughing stock throughout the country, I'm willing to give Marv the benfit of the doubt until proven differently. Now, if after a couple years: the team is losing heavily, Jauron has proven to be the wrong choice as head coach, Whitner is a bust and is cut, the O-line still stinks, the QB position is still lousy, the defense can't stop anyone and it's mainly due to DT play, then I'd give him heavy criticism. One aspect of the hiring of Marv as GM that doesn't bode well for the future is that there doesn't seem to be an heir apparent. If a team brought in a Bill Walsh with a lot of experience and success and had a young guy that he could groom, he could leave the team in a good position. Marv is learning this position on the job. No matter how good he does, I can't see him doing it for very long. So, you have Modrak as the assistant GM and he's in his 60's. When TD was fired, either Ralph didn't think Modrak could do the job or Modrak has made it known he doesn't want the responsibility. Who does that leave?? Jim Overdorf is the VP of Football Administration and is in his 40's but he's a business guy, who's handling things like contract negotiations and the salary cap. Could he learn the football side?? Sure. Could he be successful with it?? Possibly. Hopefully the Bills "brain trust" has this aspect covered with a succession plan or it could be back to square one again in a couple years.
  15. I'm glad to see someone back up their claims with some solid analysis.
  16. Is this for real?? Bwahahahaha!! What's he about, 35 or 36 now?? Maybe he's matured!! LOL!! Two years of working out with Dad to not hold onto the ball so long??!!
  17. I also seem to recall the offseason after Blesoe's 1st season with the Bills. They finished 8-8 and were excited about having a better season the following year. There was near 100% participation in the OTAs. Obviously these players aren't too excited about the upcoming season. I also wonder if they're listening too much to comments from the outside. "Their new GM is 80 years old, he's being ridiculed in the media for his moves, the new coach has a losing record. " Perhaps they find the whole situation negative and demoralizing?
  18. But don't be surpised. Look at the contract they gave to Peerless.
  19. Exactly. Some people think it's no big deal since these OTA's are "voluntary". I think it's a BIG DEAL with the new coaching staff when some of the expected leaders (Fletcher, Vincent) don't bother to show. A team wanting to win would be in there to get a head start on preperation for the new season. Perhaps a few more veterans need to be released??!!!
  20. Well, at least he changed that to "Top 10 in the NFL" on Stephen A.Smith's show.
  21. Would be a nice switch as the Bills have been underachievers the last few years.
  22. The Stanley Cup DOES NOT have all the winners on it. It is made up of sections. When one section fills up, they take one out and put in a new one.
  23. Well, it seemed Mularkey thought he wasn't "Bringing it..." with the comments about his dancing behind the line.
