  1. If the CBA remains the same as it is now, there would be no cap for 2007. So, I interpret that to mean that teams could then sign players to contracts with small salaries this year but big money for 2007 (The NBA limits by percentage how much of a raise a player can get but I don't know if the NFL does). However, this is because it's the last year of the CBA agreement. I remember this being how it was going to be for the prior CBA but they signed an extension or something before the last year so the cap-free year never materialized. So, backloading of a contract could actually come back to hurt a team then if a new CBA was signed and the cap-free year eliminated. From what I've read, the NFL Management doesn't want to end up with a Cap-free year because then the NFLPA will try to eliminate the cap.
  2. No, as the Bills learned when they traded away Peerless Price, don't get rid of a player like Moulds until you're sure you have a replacement. I'd only cut him if he absolutely refused to do any kind of reconstruction of his contract. Who knows, Reed could sign quickly with another team. Then what would you have, an unproven Aikens, and an undersized Parrish.
  3. The Forty-whiners's coach, Nolan, supposedly convinced his boss that they needed more help in the front office so there's an opening there for a position like VP of football operations or something.
  4. Well, let's wait and see what Kevin Everett does. They did use a 3rd round pick on him.
  5. was all that we heard about all this time he spent with Wyche and how good he was doing and how little of it we saw on the field. As many of you have stated previously, it seemed to possibly be Donahoe, Mularkey and Wyche making exaggerated comments to justify getting rid of bledsoe and making JP the starter. Hopefully Jauron, Levy & Ralph recognized that and base their decisions on it. Some of the other things we have heard about JP, like his 1st preseason where they said he was mixing up calls from the Bills with those from college and/or high school still bothers me about his ability to handle the job. He also has shown getting too excited and the coaches said they needed to calm him down. Well, geez, the guy played high school and college ball. Didn't he get somewhat used to playing the game from that experience. Of course, there are only a few cool customers like a Montana and Brady. Then you have guys like Bledsoe with many years of Pro Ball and he still get sjittery back there an d looks like a rookie. Hopefully it'll all click for JP and this QB issue can be put behind.
  6. Neavereth no longer was the public address announcer at the Stadium, right?? Who has been doing the PA??
  7. I look at it this way. If you hire a head coach, he's expected to be responsible for everything. If he's an inexperienced head coach, like Mularkey was, it would be expected that he, or the team management, would bring in strong experienced coordinators (like LeBeau) to help him. They didn't with Clements, where MM went with someone he was familiar with, and we saw how that turned out. Mularkey's influence on th eoffense didn't help as was expected either. If the new head coach is an experienced head coach, and he had a speciality of offense or defense (defense in the case of Jauron) he can bring in a defensive coordinator and assistants that aren't veryy experienced but guys he knows he can work with. The ex-defensive coordinator in Jauron will likely dictate the defense and the underlings will just carry out his direction. The offensive coordinator selection is a little shaky for the Bills because Fairchild hasn't done it for long. You'd expect, with the head coach being defensive minded, to have a strong experienced Off. coordinator so you'd feel comfortable with him running the show on that side of the ball. Generally most teams in the NFL aren't strong on both sides of the ball due to coaching and/or players. If they were, then they're likely playoff and Super Bowl contenders. As we know, this is where Gregg Williams likely went wrong. He had these supposed great lists of coaches but he brought in an inexperienced Offensive coordinator who failed. Gray was hired as Def Coord. with no experience, but Williams had the experience there. Later Gilbride was brought in but his system and the players didn't match.
  8. Wow!! Where did you hear that one??!!
  9. I've heard Kiper during the season on ESPN Radio's version of College Gameday. I've actually also heard him during the baseball season on a weekend ESPN radio show talking about baseball.
  10. Well, one thing about Kiper is I'd like to have his job. Studies up about College Football players and gets paid for it. He's amazing. In the 7th round of the draft, he's still spilling out a bunch of comments and 40 times, number of reps he did in some lifting test at the combine, etc. of guys most of us never heard of.
  11. Lived in San Jose area for 24 years. Now in Sacramento area.
  12. The Dean lives in San Francisco?? I did not know that!!
  13. Actually, his nickname here in Northern Cal with the Raiders is 'SeaBass'
  14. Remember, Marv said he wants character. That menas they have good character, not that they are a charcater (and a bad one to boot!!) I would be totally amazed if Marv brought in TO.
  15. You know, I didn't watch a lot of college football this past season but I did watch the Texas/USC championship game. Of what I had read and heard about before, there was a Texas DT (don't remember his name) that was supposed to be a stud. When I watched the game, several times I saw USC's Taitusi Lutui pushing that DT 5 or more yards behind the line of scrimmage. He looked pretty good. The 8th pick is definitely too high for him but if he somehow slipped to the 2nd round for the Bills, I'd think they'd want to seriously consider him.
  16. So much for McNally & Wyche being such gurus for O-Line & QBs, respectively. Perhaps Wyche didn't want to stay?? Possible allegiance with Donahoe and Mularkey??!! I wonder who decided that McNally needed some help??
  17. Let's hear it for other!!! I think the poll could've had another choice, like "Will wait and see" or "Not sure" or "OK but would've preferred someone else"
  18. And it's easy to dance to. I'll give it an 85, Dick.
  19. And I can hear the "Jarhead" refernces to Jauron coming.
  20. Oh yeah, the rule Al Davis likes to break. Al likely to announce new Raiders' coach during Super Bowl week or even Super Bowl Sunday.
  21. Yes, since the Bills unfortunately didn't win a Super Bowl, that is my favorite game.
