  1. I agree. The new CBA sure caters to the lazy player with so few mandatory practices. I just can't relate to the professional football player sometimes. The team leaders should be on these guys to get their butts in there. Same with holdouts. I think if I was a veteran pro football player and whether it was a team with championship aspirations or a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 14 years, I'd be on a guy to get his butt in there because we needed him to get ready for the season. Football requires too much teamwork and practice repetitions for a guy to holdout and show up just before or after the season starts. I couldn't believe it when Jason Peters was holding out into training camp and nobody had heard from him. Even a few of the veterans at the time voiced the opinion that "that's his deal".
  2. Gary Busey as GM!! LOL!!! After seeing him on the Apprentice and now that commercial for Amazon TV, that motorcycle accident he had while not wearing a helmet appears to have done a lot of damage. He'd likely make a Ricky Williams type trade and give up all of the picks in the draft for a 5th round prospect.
  3. Interesting viewpoint when two NFL teams in the North that have long played in domes (Seattle & Minnesota) have switched (C-Hawks) or are about to switch (Vikes) to open air stadiums.
  4. Regarding Tim Graham tweet: That would be great news! And at what point does Trump change his mind and back out?
  5. If the new owner is Trump, the new team president could be Donald Jr or his other son, Eric.
  6. It would seem strange to be an impact but they haven't taken a TE in the 1st couple rounds since they took the bust Tony Hunter in the 1st round of the1983 draft (Yes, he was the player taken before Jim Kelly!)
  7. And when Sam Wyche was brought in to work one-on-one with JP Losman.
  8. I was '71-75 I can't believe no tight ends. There were only 10 drafted so many others to choose from. How can they settle for the lumbering Chandler, a 7th round pick from 2013, an unkown in Moeaki (unkown that he ever plays like he did) and a blocked in Lee Smith? I guess we also have to include Brandon Kauffman.
  9. There was a Derek Brim that went to my high school, Hutch Tech, back in the 70s. Might have been his dad?
  10. Ugh, these Bills trades. Draft Lynch in the 1st then trade him for a 4th and he becomes a Pro Bowl Super Bowl-winning player. Now, give up a 4th (and possibly a 3rd) for a RB who was drafted in the 7th and will be your 3rd sting? I guess it doesn't matter I he contributes.
  11. And there are no longer any Polians at Indy
  12. Wow, since the draft is so long, and so many players picked, I just thought I missed Skov getting picked. I saw him projected as a 2nd-rounder. Living in Northern California, I watch all of the Stanford games and he was an impact player but I had read he might not have enough speed and quickness for the NFL. This is similar to last year's draft when his teammate Chase Thomas was projected for the 3rd or 4th round but went undrafted. Since he didn't end up making the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent I guess it was justified and may show that excelling in the Stanford system and in the Pac-12 may not always translate to the NFL.
  13. You must've forgotten the big Chris Williams signing. You remember, the guy who graded out one of the worst of the starting guards.
  14. Damn, they still have Gore. They drafted Lattimore last year (health unknown) and now add Hyde?
  15. So, along with Jerry Butler in 1979 and Perry Tuttle (Ugh!) in 1982, Watkins becomes the 3rd Clemson wide receiver taken by the Bills in the 1st round. Hopefully his career is more like Butler's than Tuttle.
  16. The current regime probably isn't concerned beyond this year. With an impending sale, if it did happen soon and get approved in October, their jobs are probably safe for the 2014 season, unless they start like 0-6. Beyond that, the new owner may want to clean house and hire his own people, especially if the playoff drought continued. Looks like they may be going for it.
  17. And that's how the Bills were fooled (fools?) on John McCargo. His linemates at North Carolina St were Mario Williams and Manny Lawson. Funny how the other two also became Bills.
  18. Yep, there are also no guarantees. For those too young to remember, the Buffalo Braves (now Clippers) went through various ownership changes in their 8 years in Buffalo. John Brown was the one that wanted to move the team but instead swapped teams with Irv Levin who owned the Celtics and Levin moved them to San Diego. Three years later, Sterling bought the team from Levin and then in 1984 he moved them to Los Angeles. Just like with neighbors, you never know when things could change. Look at the Sabres. After nearly two decades of stability with one set of owners with the Knoxes, they've been sold 3 times since.
  19. Many people don't like Kiper but he's like a walking encyclopedia. I'm amazed when it gets down to the 7th round and he rattles off a couple minute analysis on those players. He was ridiculed but he was right on the much talked about opinion of Trent Dilfer over Trev Alberts, even though Dilfer's career was pretty mediocre. Alberts was a major bust. I found a website called http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com which has a statistical analysis of correct picks in past Mock Drafts of the 1st round by Kiper, OurLads, McShay, etc. As others have mentioned, quantifying the results is pretty much nonsense as getting the correct picks by position is an impossible task (the top guys got about 25% right). I'd rather be able to review past analysis like: "This linebacker will excel in the 3-4" and see how that player turned out 5 years later. Then one could develop an opinion like "Mayock was right on about half the time" and have confidence the guy knows what he's talking about. The analysis/forecast for QBs would be very interesting to look back on as that's an extremely hard position to judge.
  20. Yeah, and then trade with the Eagles for Matt Barkley and you have the 2012 USC passing game.
  21. Then how do you explain young healthy non-obese kids getting cancer?
