  1. Dan Marino limped for the rest of his career after his injury. Obviously it was a long time ago, but it could just mean his achilles healed in a way that will always result in a limp (rather than not being fully healed). I'm still with you, I don't think he's truly healed yet, and this could be a bad sign. But, it could also just be nothing.
  2. Not someone who I think is the most frustrating player ever, but I do recall being repeatedly pissed off at Antowain Smith. Guy had a ton of talent and could not figure out how to run the ball in the big leagues. Backups would come in and outplay him, and he would still get the start the following week.
  3. To be honest, I'm not all that concerned about the offense, even without a stud #1 WR. This team will go as far as the defense will allow it. I'm really concerned about our pass rush—we're going nowhere if they don't figure that out.
  4. I have my doubts as to whether he'll open week 1 as the starter, but I do think he's probably in the longer-term plan. I see SVP as starting as the backup C. If McGovern goes down with an injury, he'll be available to step in. If one of the guards goes down, McGovern can switch over to G and SVP can come in at C. I could see that happening based on OL health. If everyone stays healthy, then it depends on how well the OL gels during the season. If there are issues, I could see them moving McGovern back to G and SVP in at C at the bye week, perhaps, then never look back.
  5. My money is on @4merper4mer, the master.
  6. Getting the feeling that Hyde is going to sit out as long as he can to save his body, maybe reserve himself for a mid-season signing if the defensive backfield needs a boost for a playoff run...
  7. So you absolutely KNOW it will be week 7, then.
  8. Have a conference in LA this year in October, so I'll be there on 10/20. Was hoping that would be the week of the LA game, but it's not looking likely...
  9. This required its own thread?
  10. I don’t even know what the hell this thread is about anymore…
  11. Exactly!
  12. Yeah, I don't know. We all thought similarly last year when we went into the season without a proven MLB, and thought he'd be crazy to stick with Bernard. Turned out to be the right choice, but it's not like anyone knew Bernard would excel the way he did. I just think he's taking the same approach this time with the WR position.
  13. I thought it was crazy, until I realize the NFL often expects teams to play on a Sunday, and then on the following Thursday. Same number of days. *which is still crazy
  14. Just inject this ***** into my veins. I love watching Josh highlights, can't get enough of them.
  15. By the way, looks like schedule release might be next week: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/signs-point-to-regular-season-schedule-release-next-week
  16. I posted this in another thread last week, but I met a guy recently who saw me wearing my Bills lanyard at work and started talking football. Turns out he is a Lions fan, and he seemed quite confident that he heard Bills @ Lions would be the opening week game. No idea where or how he could have heard this. I don't see it happening, but if it does, I'm going to have to find this guy again and ask him about the next Powerball.
  17. There's something to be said about an offense that runs the ball well enough to force a safety into the box, opening up much more of the passing game. I think Brady understood that last year, and it worked reasonably well. We'll see if that's the plan this year.
  18. I met a guy yesterday at work who saw me wearing my Bills lanyard, and starting talking football. He's a Lions fan, and he seemed pretty certain that he had heard Bills-Lions is the week 1 game. No idea where he could have heard that.
  19. I agree that we need an Edge rusher. I'm okay with the middle of the DL, but I can't imagine Beane is happy with where we are at DE.
  20. I'm not sure I'd go that far just yet, but I do think one of the most interesting battles in camp this year will be: which player offers the best value: Edwards at LG, or Van Pran at C? If Van Pran shows enough at C during camp and preseason, and Edwards underwhelms, the coaches may think it's enough to move McGovern back to LG. It's still a long shot, but it might happen. I think it may happen later in the year, perhaps at the bye week, assuming Van Pran looks the part.
