  1. At the very end of one of his statements during the RNC Biden said something to the effect of 'rioting is bad.' So, TECHNICALLY his supporters can say he's "taken a stand against rioting," but it was equivalent to a NYT page 37 retraction. Yeah, he walked it back, but nobody's going to see it & it doesn't make up for nearly 3 months of implicit support of rioting.
  2. Thing is, could see with all the chaos going on currently and the implicit support many D's have for it and the explicit support that a handful of D's have (looking at you Mssrs. Wheeler & DeBlasio) had for it, can see where non-highly partisan NYers could simply want for the destruction to end & consider not voting for Biden. BUT, as soon as 45 does something they feel is "outrageous" and he'll have at least 5 tweets between now and the election & probably closer to 20 that are outrageous and they'll have their cover to go back and vote for the previously moderate senile plagiarizer. Similar to how that idiot Lazio was actually appearing to make the race with Clinton competitive until he had the audacity to "attack" her on the debate stage by walking over to her podium & handing her a document. So, while NYS appearing to be in play today may be mildly surprising, really don't see the D's needing to spend any money to turn that trend. Expect that 45 will take care of that himself for them. Which stinks, because if 45 could truly be competitive we could possibly maybe see the state senate flip back to R control (or at minimum R plus disaffected D control) and slow our continual slide towards Californication.
  3. Hoping there is more to the story, but on the surface that seems like either a painfully dumb decision by the judge or a reason to suspect the judge is possibly corrupt. Wonder what the over/under is for how long it takes her to get back to China? Going with 10 days and taking the under.
  4. While that's definitely a concern with term limits, a bigger concern IMHO is that if you are forcing the politician out of office after 6, 8, 12, or however many years but not limiting how long a staffer or lobbyist is there, then you are necessarily giving people with no direct oversight from the voters a leg up over those that actually do have oversight. There are additional issues with term limits, but again IMHO that's the big one.
  5. Well, he was pretty much the only person that truly expected 45 would/could become the 45th president before that election. Not counting a couple of people like Ingraham who also claimed that but who also would've been claiming Dole had a legit chance back in '96. The D's would be wise to heed his concerns, but doubt they will.
  6. Except it wouldn't be the end of the DNC. Any gains 45 is making in minority communities is about him & not the GOP. He's like Reagan was in that regard. A lot of D's voted for Reagan because they believed his message & they saw how awful the D candidates were as leaders. But they went back to their own party when the Gipper's term was up. Would expect some of the people switching sides of the aisle to stay with the new party, but expect most to go back as soon as a more traditional R gets nominated in '24. The R's would IMHO need to run another outsider in '24 to solidify any gains and can't see any way for the GOP to allow that to happen for 3 full presidential cycles. Really hoping 45 gets re-elected at this point, for several reasons, not the least of which is wanting to see Spygate to get fully exposed realizing that even in that case come January '25 anything that hasn't been forced into the public sphere won't get exposed. And, when things go back to normal, expecting the GOP to totally mess up the opportunity they've been given to solidify the gains.
  7. So, basically, somebody found the dirt that McCain had on him for all those years and has started using it.
  8. 16. Right before getting a learner's permit. My kids were taught that at about the same age. Something that IMHO should be taught by all parents. Perhaps that's the reason. Perhaps it was because he'd been scrubbing spray paint off walls earlier that day. Perhaps it was for some other reason. And, maybe the kid did plan on using the gun. Doubt he did, but that's speculation. What isn't speculation is that he initially was running away from the people he ended up shooting in both incidents. Maybe the falling each time was a ruse; suspect it was more of a trigger for switching from the initial "flight" response to the "holy #### these people want to kill me" sensation to "fight," with tragic consequences.
  9. Probably people selling siding. If they can find someone dumb enough to answer a pollster, they've gotta have at least a 50-50 shot of having a live one.
  10. Being his Bidenese to English translator can't be a walk in the park either.
  11. Hadn't seen reports that Milan is seeing a 2nd spike. Southern Italy was pretty much virus free when Milan was getting pummeled the 1st time. So not surprised cases are increasing overall in Italy. Would be surprised to see Milan hit again or anything close to the cluster #### they had in March. That would make sense. If they didn't actually get to whatever that threshold (hopefully only ~20%) for herd immunity is before everything shut down then they'll likely get more cases until they reach the magic number. Hoping that's the case, because if herd immunity really comes in at 20% or so of a population being exposed, this won't be nearly as bad as feared moving forward, vaccine or no vaccine.
  12. @Magox was wondering what your thoughts are on Madrid seeming to be having a 2nd spike. Did not expect that to occur (thought they'd been hit hard enough in their 1st go around to have reached the herd immunity threshold) but you've been looking at this far closer than yours truly. What seems to be missing here (or, more accurately, there)?
  13. Thanks for the info. Clicking the thread, it appears that the guy that got shot had surgery & is still alive.
  14. Umm, if we ever get annual deaths from heart disease down or cancer to under 200,000 we should be holding a giant celebration. More than 3 times that die each year from each cause.
  15. Just another Democrat displaying once again their deep heartfelt belief that there should only be one standard of justice for all Americans.
  16. Cuomo's been calling it the European virus for months.
  17. Sadly, yes, he does. And he ends up his own worst enemy oft times because of it.
  18. Doesn't the Red Queen usually also wear a crown? And thought she carried a scimitar rather than a couple of taco salads. Un-be-friggin'-lievable.
  19. In home daycares aren't illegal in NYS (at least they weren't quite recently and haven't heard of any change) but the # of children they can take in is severely limited.
  20. Excellent questions and brings up a plausible reason why they chose this particular charge to get him to plead guilty to. Going after bigger fish all across the intelligence community & the SCO. That's the hope anyway. But not necessarily the expectation.
  21. Interesting. The NYT has gone from "there was no Chinese coverup" to "there was a Chinese cover-up but Xi knew NOTHING about it."
  22. Apparently he's testifying that he was convinced (for some reason undisclosed) that Page wasn't a CIA asset even though the CIA explicitly said Page was an asset. And clearly, rather than get clarification from the CIA on whether they REALLY meant that he wasn't an asset, he took it upon himself to "fix" the erroneous CIA sourced e-mail. Basically, his claim is that he was certain at the time that he had a better understanding of the situation than the people that actually had 1st hand knowledge. It stretches credulity to the max, but considering we see that sort of behavior pretty much daily from those with TDS, maybe there's something to his contention that he is one of the most arrogant people in Washington, which is saying a lot. A thing that will hopefully get pursued further was Weissmann's recent tweets from the last day or 2 implying that Clinesmith passed BOTH copies of the CIA memo through the FBI prior to sending it off to the FISA judge for renewal of the warrant. If so, somebody else in the food chain definitely knew Clinesmith faked the memo and (presumably) perjured himself. Would be very nice to find out at least 1 of those people was Weissmann.
  23. Who'd've thunk 4 years ago that the 9th could ever be considered in some matters as more conservative than the SC?
