  1. If there isn't a separate place to talk politics, politics will creep into threads in the other forums. Really expect you are being naive to not to expect a single political post to not spawn several others over on the other boards. At that point, moderators have to either remove posts (which in and of themselves are innocuous, but the replies oftentimes aren't) or ban posters, or both. And that would end up happening with great frequency simply because of how many posters there are on the main site. At present, the political posts have a home & don't spill over into the other boards (Covid & cancelations have affected that, but for the most part the other forums stay politics free). Take that home away and the politics WILL spill over. Take a look at SabreSpace; there are many arguments over there regarding how political posts are handled & even on whether a post was political because (IMHO) for a long time no politics could be discussed there & now there is a very small "club" where politics is permitted and the mechanics of working that club aren't fully understood by most of the posters (again, IMHO) even though it is pretty straight forward. This place has always had a bad reputation (far worse than deserved IMHO) but it has gotten much less readable since all the sockpuppet account holders had nothing to do all day so decided they'd mess with people here.
  2. And THAT is where having legit conversations with people from across the aisle is so important. If all you ever talk to are people in your echo chamber it ends up actually becoming a wind tunnel spinning everything into whackadoodle territory. Prior to 2009, this place was good for that as there were many legit posters from both sides of the aisle & the whackadoodles cut both ways as well & people jumped on "their own" bad apples as hard and often harder than the other side did. After the ACA became law many of the reasonable lefties either left (people like Coli), shifted their takes (like you), or drifted towards the deep end themselves (JA and his myriad personas), leaving the Doc Browns on a fairly lonely island. Not sure whether that was correlation or causation, but the place has never been the same. Don't know what the answer is to get more lefties here that want to have legit discussions. Hoping it'll be as simple as engaging them and ignoring the sock puppets. Easier said than done it would seem.
  3. Posting under ones real name with the current cancel culture craze would be problematic at best. Just ignore the posters that bring absolutely nothing to this board (there's a bunch on the left & a couple on the right and at least 1 of them from the right is nearly the worst offender of all). As for those like Section 8 that can bring legitimate discussion but tries hard to get under people's skin & pretty sure is one of the worst run to the mods offenders when somebody does react, probably best to ignore them as well. Eventually they'll leave or stop doing the things that cause themselves to come across as putzes. Either way, that's a win. Don't agree with those saying posters like you, Alf, or Frankish Reich should be on ignore. If you're trying to have a legit discussion, that should be encouraged; and you and they (and 1 or 2 others on the recommended ignore lists as well) do come across as wanting to legitimately discuss current events. But really strongly disagree with your take that getting rid of PPP would make this site better. And, if you feel that strongly about how toxic this forum is, you probably would be best advised to not come down here into the dungeon. Life is too short to intentionally annoy yourself.
  4. Same as every opener: Fried Food Fiesta Wings Cheese Sticks Poppers Pizza Logs Hand Cut French Fries Fresh Kettle Chips Possibly Chicken Fries/ Tenders Possibly Fried Shrimp Lots of cholesterol medicine.
  5. It's Biden, so clearly he is holding a "round table" discussion.
  6. To your 1st question. Don't know the how (and went waaaaay too far off course into conspiracy theory last time talking with another poster about polling so won't even attempt to figure out the how) but the why would be to keep their narrative alive that Republicans will vote in person & Democrats will vote by mail. If the polls support Biden being up or in a dead heat then having tons of Biden votes being found in the weeks after the election switching a huge 45 win into a narrow Biden win becomes plausible if not credible. Really don't see how undecides break for Biden if we're still seeing nightly riots 2 months from now, so am expecting at this point a bigger win for 45 than in '16. So, seeing an election night victory for 45 seems right at present, but if the polls say he shouldn't win big, would not be surprised at D's manufacturing votes in states like NV (to try to get Biden an EC win) & in CA (to get him a commanding popular vote lead to help their narrative). The D's are already trying to set that expectation. Having tight polls or Biden leads are critical to pull it off. (That should be far enough into conpiracy tin-foil hat land for now.) But there are nearly 2 months to go, so we shall see.
  7. Did read the article. It's still anonymous sources confirming anonymous sources. And there is at least 1 item in the article that has been debunked by several people, that being that it was 45's call not to drive to the cemeteries. The secret service nixed that, as was reported at the time & since. If we know 1 part of the anonymously sourced story is false, it seems fair to assume the rest of it is as well. Especially when we know so many "FORMER senior officials" hate 45 & have an axe to grind. Don't have a horse in the "anonymous sources made the story up" or "the Atlantic reporter made the story up" race. But considering the amount of BS that has been put out in the MSM the past 4 years, definitely won't give the story credit until someone/something more credible provides confirmation. As for Q vs Qanon vs ???, believe that Q (whoever they are) is in the administration or has ridiculously close ties to it. Don't believe all Q's info is true, but some of it is. Qanon is people (believers & non-believers) trying to interpret the "drops" with their own spin and more than a few are loons & more than a few are like the sock puppets here trying to derail anything that may be legit about it. Won't speak for DR on that matter. He's provided his background & motivations here on many occasions and he is more than capable to speak for himself. He also has been right on a lot of stuff that seemed preposterous almost 4 years ago, so personally put a lot more of his theories and info about politics into the "plausible" bin than into the "preposterous" one due to his track record. And by politics am encompassing all the Spygate, Russiagate, & human trafficking under that umbrella. So much of that stuff that seemed outlandish when it was brought up, turned out to be spot on. (The alien stuff & some other remains in their original bins, but for the politics stuff he has done the work to know more of the behind the scenes stuff than anybody else here & IMHO we are very fortunate to have him posting here.) My 2 cents.
  8. He will LITERALLY have had his life upended for 4 full years all because he'd been cleared of any wrong doing by 1/4/17 but that wasn't the answer some really unscrupulous people wanted/ needed to hear come 1/5/17.
  9. They managed to get 2 anonymous sources (both of whom are allegedly former members of 45's administration, just like people such as Sally Yates & Colonel Vindman were members of the administration) to confirm 4 anonymous sources? (And there's absolutely no chance whatsoever that the 2 were among the original 4 because there's no way an anonymous source with an axe to grind would talk to 2 different reporters. Right?) Well, that seals it.
  10. Pretty much this. If Biden wins, all pressure to investigate Hunter goes away. Also, all the other goodies that Joe steered towards his other relatives disappear back under the radar as well.
  11. Haven't seen a "good reason" for Sullivan's actions since the DoJ tried to drop the case. Have no reason at all to expect this won't drag out past the election.
  12. Except reports have said he lived less than 20 miles from Kenosha & worked at the car dealership he was helping guard. If those are accurate, then your 1st point is not correct. The point of being there, whether wise or not, was to help protect the dealership from the expected riots. There are definitely photos showing him removing graffiti earlier in the day at the car dealership. So, again, wisely or not, it seems he had good intentions initially. There also are videos that appear to show him acting as a medic helping . Not sure if they are accurately depicting that. With your 2nd point, are you saying that because there were active "protests" (personally, would call them riots by the time the shooting started, but poe-tay-toe, pah-tah-toe) on going he was fair game to be attacked? If he was helping as a medic (which is debatable, to say the least) does that alter your conclusion? And, not sure how being armed, in and of itself, justifies someone else hitting him in the head with a skateboard nor chasing after him and throwing stuff at him. Each time, until he falls, he IS retreating. Still haven't seen a video showing why the 1st guy is chasing after him. Based on video from earlier at the dealership would guess/expect that it was on the guy who got shot, but that is byno means necessarily the case. Also don't know why he left the dealership nor why police didn't let him pass back through to the dealership from the same route he'd left it.
  13. Well, it should be. But, when the inmates run the asylum ...
  14. 'Bout the only thing that might work is what Buffalo Gal has been telling you since you came back, flat out ignore or at a minimum don't engage at all w/ the sock puppets. Well, exceptin' for Tibs. He's kinda grandfathered into the place.
  15. Umm, 20 late '70's college kids and a coach from the frozen lakes of Minnesota say 'hi.'
  16. Yep. He won the national championship for Bama in '64 & it was a huge coup the he ended up w/ the Jets of the upstart AFL rather than in the NFL. He added a huge degree of respectability to the AFL. As somebody said upthread, he was far and away tue most visible football player of the late '60's. It helped being based out of NYC, but he was the face of the AFL and was probably even more recognized than Unitas, Butkus, or Starr. And nobody expected the Jets to keep the SB close, much less actually win it. Even without the prediction, with all the rest, as soon as they won the SB he became an eventual lock for the HoF. OP brings up Jim McMahon.. Very few people speak of McMahon & he was overshadowed on that '85 team by Sweetness, the Fridge, & Singletary (Even Ditka & Buddy Ryan are more recognizable & remembered today IMHO). NOBODY overshadowed Broadway Joe.
  17. That stinks. The neighborhoods that will likely suffer the destruction already have more than their share of problems. Hopefully the expected destruction doesn't materialize.
  18. Funny, pretty sure the bolded can be said about you. But if you don't realize that polling questions can be, and are, tailored to get a preferred result very often, Biden has a bridge to sell you.
  19. They aren't "faking" the numbers in so much as they are (presumably) actually getting these results. But, pretty sure they are tailoring the Q's in a way, and also tailoring their samples, to still end up with only slightly more people than 50% to say they'd choose Biden. Which is effectively faking the #'s. Prior to the conventions, they just needed to oversample D's to get there. Now, it appears, they have to oversample D's and also ask very tailored questions that they'll still get D's to say 'yes, they'll vote for a senile man that they know won't last 4 years' without getting R's to tell them to go #### themselves. Because a poll showing Biden up by 50 points + would not be believable to anyone but Biden & Clinton. Watching clips of both candidates, have to believe that is a very fine line to walk. And they have to keep Biden close in the polls to have any chance of people believing their "no, no, no, it only LOOKS like 45 won because every single Democrat in the country voted by mail because it was too scary to enter the voting booth" gambit to have any plausibility at all.
  20. So, the DC committee that recommended "removing, relocating, or recontexualizing" the Washington & Jefferson Monuments (among others) WASN'T bullschiff? Saw that story yesterday and thought there HAD to be something wrong about it because even Tibs wouldn't be dumb enough to call for that. People are nuts.
  21. Right track. Wrong defense. She was SET UP! She trusted her hairdresser. How could she have POSSIBLY been expected to know the regulations governing commerce in a state so far from her base in WDC? She's simply a trusting soul that was duped by someone that hasn't worked on a regular basis in months. Poor, poor, naive, trusting Pelosi; it's not her fault. (Maybe somebody could make that into a T-shirt for rioters to wear when they grow tired of the all black clothing look.)
