  1. Smart observation. We have a lot of needs, but let's hope that among their skills, qb evaluation is near the top.
  2. Well, I really like Blade Runner. I like noir if one means Out of the Past, The Third Man, The Big Sleep, etc., but not a fan of the B-movie genre as a whole. As sci-fi noir, I thought Harrison Ford played Decker just right. It's not a glamorous lead role. Rutger Hauer steals the show in that degree, but that is fitting, as the redemptive thematic moment belongs to Roy Batty. I agree the director's cut is far preferable, though I have some nostalgia for the voice over version and don't absolutely hate it. I rarely go see movies at the theater. The Artist was the last one, so you see how infrequent. I think I'd like to see the new Blade Runner on Imax, though. The whole question of identity and the mix of interesting philosophical/theological questions with a rich, dystopic mythos makes the original and sequel worth contemplating. Blade Runner is based on Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep, so the speculation regarding the future was further out than the film date might lead one to surmise. Anyway, I know quite a few folks who think it dull and I can understand how they find it so (I find David Lean films dull, though they are cinematic masterpieces I suppose.)
  3. Thanks for the take. You and Shrader are two fellas who I listen to for informed opinions. Any chance Lehner gets better at shootouts? It's depressing, but the minute we go to SO, I just assume it is a loss. I'd almost like to put Ocho CInco in for the SO, regardless.
  4. Folks are only interested in context when it helps their argument.
  5. I find the animus off-putting. It's not like the young man forced the Bills to take him in the first round.
  6. Taylor is playing smart, avoiding turnovers and doing just enough to win. The TD throw to Jordan Matthews was the real deal. Do more of that and he will persuade the persuadable. The view that Tyrod is not a franchise qb is not equivalent to saying he is a terrible qb. He has exceeded my expectations so far this year. I hope he continues to do so, but I will still be surprised if he establishes himself as a true franchise qb.
  7. End of world coming soon.
  8. I hope EJ plays well, unless he is playing against us. From the little I've seen in pre-season and when he came in for Carr last week, he looks more relaxed and has played reasonably well.
  9. I am generally a classical music listener, but I liked his music. 66 was old fifty years ago. Seems not so old today, imo. Go with God . . .
  10. Just surmising as the OP is asking about professional TT haters. And I've been giving it away for free all these years . . .
  11. I didn't know you could get paid to hate Tyrod.
  12. I liked Watson and Mahomes and posted quite a bit my hopes that we would draft one of them. Taylor is playing somewhat better than I expected. Hopefully the offense continues to improve, though our wr corps is limited. Those who were sure the 2018 qb draft was going to rival 1983 look overly optimistic at this moment.
  13. Anyone ever watch Farscape? It was eccentric, but I liked it.
  14. Thanks. I was unaware of the context.
  15. I agree with that. Long term, I want a top tier franchise qb, but Taylor appears to be somewhat better than I anticipated. Hope he keeps playing well.
  16. You can't seriously believe Taylor is "at least" a top 10 qb.
  17. Don't know if this came up at some point in this thread, but Joe Flacco had a QBR of 0.8 last week. Fifth worst in the last decade apparently; hard to imagine a lower QBR. Fella got hot at the right time his super bowl year and cashed in.
  18. I only watched the first episode as the second was on CBS All Access or some such. Personally, I liked it, though there may be some contrasting reaction to my strong dislike for the recent Orville show. Unfortunately, the venue means I won't be watching future episodes.
  19. I think this is the correct assessment. I hope Peterman develops to the point where we can see him play towards the end of the season. Still expect and want a 2018 first round pick devoted to trying to secure a franchise qb.
  20. The former Colts' GM criminally failed to improve the O-line.
  21. I've been a fan since the days of Dennis Shaw, so I consider that I've paid my dues and can root for whatever plan I think most likely to produce a Buffalo Superbowl win while I am still alive. Ironically, I also have had to continue my affection for the team in spite of many fellow fans on internet message boards. I liked it before modern technology revealed how often I find my fellows to be ignorant, rude, and disagreeable. In any event, we need a franchise qb and it is unlikely another mediocre year will yield a good opportunity to get one. I am not opposed to one very bad year if it results in many good ones. I'd like to hear the rationale for how 7-9 or 8-8 is going to help the team achieve excellence going forward. If you think we are better than that, you make Pollyanna appear a pessimist.
  22. I also prefer your alternate reality. Whaley made considerable mistakes, but he was much better than his reputation with most Bills' fans today. Anyway, Mahomes and Watkins sounds a lot better than our current roster. Next year, in addition to the obvious bad teams needing qbs, I think you can throw in the Vikings, Giants, and Cards as teams that will be looking at qb early. We threw two birds in hand away for chances that may have to be packaged just to get a qb with Mahomes potential and lots of holes to fill. If we end up with a solid franchise qb and some good young pieces, the gamble will retrospectively be judged wise. At this point, it's anything but a foregone conclusion.
  23. Agree, though Goff also has a young head coach who is supposedly a qb whisperer. In addition to the suspect decisions at wr, letting Kromer go in favor of Castillo does not appear sound. Dennison has yet to show that he is a good hire, though he doesn't have a lot to work with.
  24. I agree, but I believe qb is the larger need all the same.
