  1. If we end up drafting Watson or even Mahomes, I am okay with this. Otherwise, not so much, but it's a done deal either way. Don't think Taylor is very good, so I will have to hope he is better than I judge.
  2. Why didn't they? I have generally been a pro-Whaley guy, but this seems incompetent.
  3. Thanks, 716. I trust your analysis, just wondered if you had any back-and-forth with the Major fella.
  4. Any idea who are the best cbs available in free agency outside of Gilmore? It may be utterly irrational, but I just hate the idea of using #10 on a cb. Elite safety, somehow I'm okay with, but I have a feeling Hooker and Adams may both be gone. And yes, I still would prefer a qb or wr (Williams or Davis,) but I suspect we go D. 716 and Blokes, have you chatted with MajorBobby about qb? He is high on Mahomes. I tried to talk about air raid and bad mechanics, but he thought it was mostly an air raid bias. I don't really know. I like Watson and he seems third choice among a lot of experts. Sorry this post is meandering all over the place.
  5. I generally like your posts, but if you think CNN has a slight conservative bias, you are way, way to the left.
  6. I am also good with this. Thanks for your insight. I enjoy your posts.
  7. I prefer Watson. I am intrigued by Mahomes, but I have also read some fellas who are more expert at analyzing qb than I am who seem to have grave doubts about Mahomes. It is partly that he comes from an Air Raid offense, but they also seem to think that his mechanics are atrocious. So, I dunno, but I am in agreement with those who think we should draft a qb early.
  8. Me, too HD. Don't agree at all with those who say he is Taylor 2.0.
  9. Why, GuyfromHighSchool, why? Ahh, he's here, too. Buffalo range is a weird vibe place, but there are some decent folk there.
  10. Good to see you Shotgunner. It's a pretty nice place I think. The most balanced and decent for the most part. A few of the long-time folks who haunt the shoutbox are rude, especially if one uses too many big words or is conservative.
  11. Nice to see they are looking at o-line prospects. RT needs an upgrade badly.
  12. Damn, I want to say hello to all the good folks I recognize. Can't keep doing this, but fancy is a really good fella.
  13. Hey 716, it's like picking up survivors of the Titanic.
  14. Teef, one of the best on any board. It was really low-class to shut down without any warning. The only way they could have done it better would have been to wait until the draft to shut down the conversation.
  15. Thanks for the OP. Those who think this is as weak a qb class as 2013 are too pessimistic. Still like Watson the best, but Mahomes is intriguing.
  16. I read somewhere, I cannot recollect the source, that McDermott's defense emphasizes the front seven. He often employs a cover 3 and his zone coverages do not require the kind of athletes Ryan's system demands. I have no idea if this is true, but I'd like to know how critical various positions are for his D. I gathered that the need for an elite safety was not as high a priority in the new D. Could be wrong about all that, though. I am biased, however. I really like Watson at qb.
  17. Pain is the cost of love. Those who do not experience anguish do not love deeply. I believe with Julian of Norwich that "all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well," but that is an eschatological hope. Your words are tribute to your son and to the love of a family for each other. God bless. You are in my prayers.
  18. This makes sense to me, but folks keep telling me it won't work. Why not? Glenn is getting paid. The question is, is the drop off from Glenn at LT to Kujo lesser or greater than the improvement going from Mills to Glenn. Of course, it's also a matter of overall chemistry, but the latter idea appears at least plausibly a significant overall upgrade. Well, that's depressing.
  19. Well stated. And yet folks will continue to harp on Whaley and qbs. Post #25 in this thread is also excellent. Because of length, I didn't want to quote it. It's a nice way to analyze the qb situation. I agree with your overall sentiments, though I like Watson, so I would draft him if available.
  20. Ahh, he seems to me GOAT. He benefits from a system perfectly suited to his skill set and a coach who is GOAT. Montana also benefited from a system suited to his strengths and an offensive genius for a coach. It's hard to be successful otherwise. Fortune plays a role even when one has superlative talent. Still, longevity is a factor. 39 and still no discernible drop-off. On the other hand, I don't recollect anyone questioning Montana's honor.
  21. Yep. Nice thread in a message board devoted to a team that hasn't made the playoffs this millennium. Falcons are a tough out. I think they're going to win it all. I also live in Atlanta. Don't care when they lose; happy when they win. If only I could have the same emotional attachment to the Bills.
  22. I addressed this in a later post. I understand your sensibility. It's fine. I just don't happen to share it, silly or not.
  23. And what kind of superior GM skills were needed to draft Luck first overall?
  24. Don't play safe, Doug. Fortune favors the bold . . . except when it doesn't
