One way to help Josh Allen's accuracy: Fewer dropped passes
C.Biscuit97 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is such a good point that is forgotten. Brady might have one of the worst arms of any starter but he gets the ball to his playmakers in space where they can run. -
That situation was a total joke. The coach just had a power trip and tried to rip the coat off him. And obviously, the university agree with Oliver because they fired the coach. Sadly, a lot scumbags win too. We have had plenty of good guys.

Competition is always a good thing. Our receivers are better but it is hardly a group that is great. Beasley/ Brown are smaller guys who average 600 yards/ season for their career. Jones doesn’t have any elite skills and maybe a low end 2 at best. Foster isn’t far removed from not playing for Bama and getting cut from the Bills. You don’t stop upgrading this group. Butler would be the perfect compliment to this group. Most qbs need a guy they can just throw it up. We don’t have anything close to that.

Could have also drafted Pat Mahomes, JuJu, and not had to trade any draft picks either. I’d say we could have still drafted Oliver but we probably won’t have had a shot. These classes change all the time. Guys emerge, some guys don’t progress, guys get Hirt, some don’t come out. Again, it’s fluid. Love the first 2 picks but the rb and TE were hardly slam dunk picks. IMO, a guy like Butler helps this team more than a rb (we have 4 now) and a TE who hasn’t caught a td.

Hopefully once the Bills get Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, AJ Green, Kyle Rudolph, Deez Bryant, Mike Evans, and Cooper, there will be no more excuses for Allen. That would arguably be a solid receiving core.

Which of these do we need to retire first?

I mean it is voluntary and won’t mean a thing if he produces this season. But I won’t be thrilled if I was the Jets. He seems like he is just about himself. Still will put up numbers but he doesn’t have that winner mentality. I don’t know why teams spend big resources on rbs now. -

Fair point. Our oline certainly wasn’t great but mobile qbs tend to get sacked more because they try to scramble and make big plays. As others have said, Allen should take more of what the defense gives him. I do think this is harder than posters think though. There have been many a qb with a rocket arm that would struggle to completely short passes with consistency (Losman, McNabb). -

I think McDermott gets the final say on all personnel moves over Beane. -

Both but especially Trust the process is stuff people have been saying for years, especially the 76ers. It’s like when you’ve been a crappy boyfriend for years but you keep telling your girlfriend to just trust the process. -

Haha, why would they trade Evans? -

I mean I’d take him for the right price but he is way overhyped. But you got it made if you are considered a “pass rusher.” -

Yeah, it’s why I wanted a big receiver for him. I think tall qbs miss high. I don’t have time now but do you know where his passing chart is? -

He wasn’t playing in the SEC. you think Jimmy G and Carson Wentz’ college receivers were great? The thing that that scares me about Allen is we asking Allen to be better in the nfl than he was in the MWC. With a bunch of mainly 3rd and 4th type receivers. But it will be interesting to see how it goes. The 2nd year is when you see if you have a legit guy or not. The tape is out and they are going to take away your strengths. Teams are going to try to keep Allen in the pocket and throw to beat them. I think we are trying to mold him into Brady when it should be a Flacco type model (play action, deep shots). JMO. -
Wow, it’s like old times! We agree! And this is the problem with guys like RI, Chad Kelly, Pac-Man Jones, etc. they get enabled their whole life because they can play football. While a routine is probably great for him, is slamming his head for another season good for him long term? This guy needs mental health yet fans always make excuses for him.

That’s fair but his ypa was ranked 31st in the nfl. http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/yardsPerPassAttempt. I think people underestimate how much touch is need to play qb. What really impressed about Mahomes is while he has a cannon, he threw some amazing touch passes. I think this is something Allen really needs to improve on. -

I’m asking sincerely. Why hasn’t Allen ever broken the 60% mark (pretty standard for most qbs) at any level? All of his past receivers suck? -
Huh? Juju almost had 1,000 yards as a rookie in 14 games and had 1,400 yards in his second season. But the Bills has no shot at drafting him. Oh wait... and it it seems like he is having a better offseason than last year. Still a really bad trade and getting ripped as receiver really means nothing. But as a 3rd type receiver, he is ok.

“Still Miles Away” -Colin Cowherd

We have been outscored by 162 points in the last 2 years. What about Pittsburgh and GB? Again, I hate Cowherd but it is more about how good a team is. How much do you want to hear about Charlotte Hornets, Arizona Coyotes, or TB Bucs? -

So he praises a team that has won 6 SBs? What an idiot.
