High pick TEs struggle as rookies.

Yeah, I guess the counter he could have is the Steelers would have run him into the ground since they weren’t bringing him back and he avoided injury/ wear and tear. But he did lose out on $14 million and got less than the Steelers would have paid him. So he kinda took an L. And avoids bathrooms and motorcycles.

Yeah for as much talent as the Steelers list, I bet Tomlin is much happier. I won’t be shocked to see them in the playoffs. Seems like it will be a much more unified locker room.

I guess it’s only 2 years but seems like a lot of money for a guy who has had 21 sacks in his last 4 years. Hughes is a number 2 DE who is getting paid almost like a 1. But you have to spend your money somewhere but it seems like they are starting to overpay like the last regime that got killed for it.

This story is insane on some many levels. I’m actually shocked they aren’t using the CTE defense. I think he also got caught jacking in a parking lot when he was playing. Something is seriously wrong with him.

I think we should question his toughness and rush him back like Sammy. Foot injuries are a bad one. This is going to be a big problem going forward. I wasn’t in love with the signing but they need to be real patient with it.

This sounds like when Belichick used to praise Josh Reed and Chris Kelsey. Whenever I’m in Boston wearing Bills stuff, they just keep up to me and say that we’re their 2nd favorite AFC East team and they hope we win sometime. It sucks but they don’t even view as a rival. They pity us.

They have constructed terrible offenses. I don’t know why they get such a pass on offensive moves. They have been bad on that side of the ball.

1). I love the shell of Brady. God, I would love a shell qb who completes 65% of his passes for 4,500 yards and 29 tds, which would be the greatest Season in Bills history. 2). Gronk is a great blocker and receiver. When he is on the field, you have no idea what is coming. When Lee Smith is on the field, you know what’s coming. It’s called a yell and defenses key on it. And he is such a non threat in the passing game that you can’t even trick a defense with a play action pass. 3). Oakland had a bottom 10 rushing attack. His impact was very minimal. Its a backup te so whatever. But it’s mindset. You need versatility and not guys who give away the play. 8 guys in the box isn’t going to help the running game.

I just don’t understand how this helps the running game. You have a guy who is not a threat in the passing game so you just load up on the run when he’s on the field. It’s like with Star. You just spread the field and he can’t play/ is a non factor. It’s not like Oakland had a good rushing attack. i mean it’s a back up TE so it’s whatever. But much like paying veteran 30 year old rbs, it’s not what smart teams would do.

He very well might. But you couldn’t find another guy who is more of a threat? Or just put in an extra o linemen?

Haha. You’re right. This might be the year he tops 80 yards in a season. But the Raiders are definitely a team I point to as being one I want to idle myself after. Like I said, I heard he’s a great guy. And props to him for getting checks for so long with such average talent. But lee smith’s Are a dime a dozen.

They have Tom Brady. They also had the best TE of their generation. You don’t see the difference when you line up Gronk, who can do everything, vs Lee Smith?

This what worries me about this regime. They seem to have outdated ways of thinking. It’s liek signing Star. Good at one thing, completely worthless if teams pass. Smith is a glorified o linemen. Why not just keep Fisher who can fill two roles?

I don’t get this. Croom in theory has potential. What does Smith have? Plus, you want to keep the owner’s daughter happy.

Haha. Apparently, he’s a great teammate. All I remember from his time here is us calling a perfect pass play at the goal line and him tripping on his feet and blowing an easy td. if you combine all of our TEs, would they even have 1,000 yards? I’m glad they are trying to improve the position but it’s like they are just shopping at the dollar store.

Legit talent at premier positions cost money. There is all this talk about salary cap he’ll we had. Well, that was because Dareus was an all pro DT. The test for McBeane will be if these young player develop into elite players and demand big money.

I hope my point didn’t come across as judging him to be a bad person. It was more than some kids just get way more opportunities in life. I know how the addiction process can start. I tore my Achilles and had surgery. They gave me Hydros and said I could take up to 8 a day. I took one and was out of mind. I tried to rehab without taking any more because I could real easy how that could become a big problem. And i do remember pills were pretty easily handled out when you got hurt. I know guys who could get you anything. And when they couldn’t, you turn to something cheaper and easier to get. Theres all this border stuff when there are a ton a ton of things be made in this country that are killing people. Yet, a lot of legal money is being made on it, sorry, rant over.

I know how bad it can be and I root for any person to survive it. The stuff about the girlfriend is awful. Personally, as someone who didn’t have a dad in the nfl, it seems like some kids get a million more chances than other kids. Lot of other kids, maybe with more talent than Pike, who didn’t have the opportunities he had growing up. Things like if you mess up once, your life is over. I guess that’s life though and I hope he really is over it. also, sometimes a locker rom isn’t the best way to overcome an addiction. I didn’t play in the nfl but I’ve seen plenty of not great things with my teammates.

Easily one of the greatest Bill ever. I can’t wait to see him get put on the Wall Of Fame. What a legend.

We cut Dareus in the middle of the season when our run defense was horrible.
