Fair points but you do realize Jackson played in a pro style system in college? again my point isn’t to crap on Allen. I just don’t understand why people out so quick to discredit Jackson. Maybe he is just a good qb. Dude has one of the best resumes of any 2nd year qb of all time. Good post and it sums up my feelings. hopefully, they both become better passers. But let’s not act like the Ravens have a super amazing receiving core either. Their top wr is 5’9” 170 lbs and missed a bunch of games. Their second wr was Willie Freakin’ Snead too,

When they came out in the draft, I had Allen and Jackson ranked together. Good physical tools, worries about them being consistent NFL passers. Im not trying to knock Allen here. I did see some improvement. My problem with this comparison is some fans always want to knock Jackson. They said he should switch positions. They started a thread about him struggling in a pro bowl drill. Then he won MVP in the pro bowl. jackson won the Heisman, while Allen wasn’t 1st or 2nd team in the MWC. Jackson helped the Ravens make the playoffs 2 years in a row. He was the MVP this year. Why can’t he improve but Allen can? Honestly, I hope both players become great qbs. It makes for a better nfl. But my biggest problem with the Allen pick is it is a projection type pick. We are expecting him to be a better player than he was in the MWC. At this point, I don’t think any rational fan can argue that Jackson hasn’t had the better career. Could Allen pass him one day? Sure but it’s just guessing at this point.

Greg Olsen visiting Bills, Redskins, Seahawks

Whoops! I meant Kroft!!! I’m not giving up on Knox yet. -
McShay - Bills pass on WR and take RB Swift in 1st.

Literally one of the few things that would make me punch a wall. It would beyond idiotic but this regime has outdated view on offense. Maybe we could run the wishbone. -

I would take him in a second but he looked pretty washed last year. Third Leg Greg would be a great mentor and I’ll gladly get rid of Smith and/ or Knox. -
I generally agree with this. Learning from Smith helped him. At the same time, Mahomes in his first start as a rookie passed for more yards than Allen has in his career. In the SB in what was considered a bad game by him, he passed for more yards than Allen has in any game against the #1 defense. Mahomes is just a much better qb than Allen. He’s special and would have been good anywhere. The prices nothing except how much McDermott struggles with evaluating offense. He literally benched a serviceable qb for a guy who has had one of the worst careers in nfl history. It was an unbelievably dumb decision.

It’s wild how some people try to discredit Mahomes. Andy Reid had a playoff team with Alex Smith (a guy who didn’t throw a td pass to a receiver for an entire season). Instead of trying to fill out the roster with a player that could help him, he traded up for Mahomes because that’s how good he thought he was. He is an Offside away from potentially winning 2 SBs in his first 2 years as a starter. He is a generational qb. Allen wasn’t even dominant in the MWC so it’s pretty silly to pretend like he would come close to doing what Mahomes is doing. He carries a garbage defense (they played better in the 2nd half but aren’t close to the Bills). Could Allen be a franchise guy? Of course. But it’s like comparing prime Brady to Ryan Tannehill at this point. Mahomes is off to the greatest start of any qb on nfl history. I never liked the hire of Daboll. Very uninspired. I was asking for Kingsbury last off-season. But I think it’s very fair to question this regimes ability to make offensive decisions.

I would have rather had McCoy than Gore in our playoff game.
-
Yeah, I agree. It’s about as even as I can remember. I want KC because I always felt Reid was underrated and I love Mahomes (but Hill is human garbage). But it does always seem like the really good defensive team beats the high powered offense in SBs. I also am starting to like the Jimmy G overs and MVP props. He has gotten killed because he hasn’t done anything and I can see them letting him make some plays to shut people up.
-
But his is hilarious. All you used to do is talk about Reid is a completely overrated coach. And maybe a smart offensive coach should have benched Gore and his 2.8 ypc against Houston. someone else pointed out it’s probably the 3 fumbles that got him benched. It’s crazy because it always seemed like he should have fumble much more with the way he carried the ball. oh well. Bills fans can watch the game and talk about how much Watkins, McCoy, and Ragland suck. Just like with Gilmore last year. And Darby and Bradham the year before.
-
I’m definitely in favor of 2 wrs (maybe in the 2nd and later after going pass rusher in the 1st). I legit don’t trust their abilities to evaluate receiver at all so might as well take a bunch of chances. So was Peyton Manning. So that means he will be an all time great. The Tunsil drop was so stupid. I was in charge, I would have drafted him 1st overall. We just used to use snow hats to cover our faces. The gas mask is genius.

I never got this. People used to do it with Favre? Dude loves to play and teams still will pay him a lot of money to do so. He’a pretty healthy. I like seeing great players play. I mean personally, I would have retired years ago. But for this dudes, retirement probably sucks. I wasn’t close to his level but I just remember after my last college game, it just hits you. There is no sport that compares to a football game. When it’s ever, you realize you will never get that thrill again. It sucks.
-
This makes no sense. McCoy, the 32 year old backup rb, had the same numbers as the Vikings 21 year old backup rb, so that means he’s washed up? I mean he’s not McCoy but a guy who’s washed (Gore) would average like 3.2 ypc or whatever. i really don’t care either way. I think McCoy could be a major scumbag but he is a borderline HOF Rb and has a chance to get a ring. Things could be worse.

Will you be refunding us if these lose? Because I’m betting my house on this because I trust you so much. ? I kinda like the over 2.5 sacks for SF. Also, Cousin Sal always does an insane bet and it’s Blake Bell, backup KC TE, first reception over 1.5 yards!!! And the Gatorade has to be red, right?
-
Yikes. I feel like a team should face charges if they give him a contract.
-
He averaged 4.6 ypc this year.

Flutie talking Bills and Allen
C.Biscuit97 replied to sunshynman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for that explanation. I probably shouldn’t admit it but whenever I played a sport and I thought there was a guy worse than me who was playing over me, I struggled to support them and won’t mind if they played bad. We might be splitting hairs, but I think the Kelly stuff is way worse. Could you imagine Tom Brady getting hammered during SB week? We beat the Titans without that bad karma. RJ was awful in that game. but I guess it’s finally time to move on haha. -
Flutie talking Bills and Allen
C.Biscuit97 replied to sunshynman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guaranteed I was young for this, but what did Flutie do that was worse than the starting qb calling out his LT and having Thurman Thomas then call our Kelly? Or getting hammered all SB when you’re the supposed leader of the team? Yeah, RJ crushed it. It’s hilarious that the people who bash Flutie always fail to realize the team and offense got miraculous worse when he didn’t play. RJ sucks. -
I think you overstate things Bill. I would agree that the 2014 team is possibly the best team of the drought and I would favor them over the 2017 and 2019 teams. That was a loaded team. and Whaley’s record after 3 years of inheriting was 23-25. McBeane’s through 3 years is 25-23. Next year Is a huge one for them. Many great moves on defense, Some real questionable ones on offense.
-
Through their first 2 seasons, Sammy (playing with EJ, Orton, and Tyrod) had 100 less yards and 3 less tds than Julio. He played in a crap offense with bad throwing qbs. When healthy, he is really good. but of course, it’s hard to justify trading up for a non qb (of course the new regime has already done this multiple times). It’s also funny for how bad Whaley is, it seems like a bunch of guys he drafted have played in SBs.

The Wasted Open is amazing. I highly recommend it. It actually makes golf fun.
