At the same time, Allen is the highest drafted qb in franchise history. We traded down to get EJ. Losman was the 4th qb taken in his class. Trent was a 3rd round pick after a whatever career in college. Tyrod and Fitz were backup free agents. id argue that reason the Bills didn’t find a qb is because they didn’t try hard enough and settled for after thoughts. and I really like Burrow but the whole point is what he is doing now, isn’t that special. These guys are putting up Montana and Marino numbers as rookies. Look at Herbert, who no one predicted was some elite prospect. It’s a major trend for guys to light up the league right away because it’s such an easier game for qbs.

Minshew is putting up numbers as a late round pick that will blow Jim Kelly’s away. It is such a different league. It’s why teams give up on qbs so early. Basically if you can’t play right away now, you probably aren’t good enough. Thanks Bill. As another posted out, maybe you don’t pay guys who at the absolute worst, don’t have top 5 potential. these contracts murder good nfl rosters. The Fins are a powerhouse of Tua is healthy and good. But if they signed Cousins and not drafted Tua, their future is completely cApped.

But the Bucs got the greatest qb of all time. If they signed Kirk Cousins, they probably make the playoffs with that roster, but that team falls apart in 2 years because they can’t pay get guys because of Cousins Completely agree. And you should draft a guy while you have a guy. So in a way get the GB thing but clearly Rodgers, one of the best ever, has a lot left and would have benefited from playing with Tee Higgins. Jimmy G?

Completely fair and I hated him then too. But it “seems” like he grew up a bit.

With all due respect, I think taking pride in anyone getting hurt (minus trash like Joe Mixon) is a bad look. OBJ is mainly annoying but in reality, he hasn’t done anything criminal. I don’t take any pleasure in him getting hurt and think it’s bad karma. But JMO. Gilmore I think. And he was a told punk but it seemed like he was maturing this year and kinda feel bad for brown fans. They are so hopeless. It was a game against one of the worst defenses in the nfl. OBJ being on the field opens up so much for that offense even if he’s not catching passes. people thought John Brown missing hurt our offense. Well, OBJ is Brown on steroids. Your team needs threats to keep defenses honest. It’s big loss.

Belichick on Bills: They're solid across the board

Just solid??? More bulletin board material for the Bills!!! -
Scumbag comment. I don’t like everything he does but that’s bad karma. And honestly, what has he really done that is bad?

Bills have 3 of top 15 highest rated pass rushers
C.Biscuit97 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can appreciate analytics but the people rating this stuff have no idea what plays call or the design of the play. Like it could be a screen pass and the OT is supposed to let the d linemen past them, but on film, it looks the d linemen smoked them. analytics definitely serves a purpose but it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. This hasn’t been a good pass rushing team. If the Bills D played like they did in the 2nd half last week, they would give up 8 yards a game!!! 😏 That isn’t a good defense to you??? -

He has been terrible but I’m always fine with giving high picks another shot. -
Yeah for sure. Win the division and that’s all the matters. But I would loved to have beat Brady and that little prick.
-
Bills 2020: this is finally the year we dethrone the Pats Pats 2020: congrats on beating us when we have become the Jags. NE is one of the least talented rosters in the nfl. If they can’t beat this team, there needs to be an exorcism.

Seems like a good realtor won’t advice him to do that if he was really getting traded. He is losing leverage.
-
Yeah of course I get the market. It’s why Dak has gotten his payday because he knows what Goff and Wentz got. And clearly Dak is showing how valuable he is by being injured. but paying Dak a ton of money is going to kill that team long term, as it does most every other team. I think if you also should take a shot on a qb every 3 years because you gain leverage. and the because of the rules, lots of guys are going to put up big numbers. Fair point but then look at Lamar Jackson. Hell, Gardner Minshew was a 7th rounder who might be a playoff qb on a talented team.
-
Agreed obviously with your first statement. But disagree on your 2nd point. How does Kirk Cousins making double what Aaron Donald makes sense??? It’s an insane structure. Especially in a nfl where it is has never been easier to play qb and ho hum 1st rounder can be on pace to throw for 5,000 yards as a rookie. the Vikings were one of the most rounded teams in the nfl and nearly went to the SB with Case Keemun. Now, they are in contention for the 1st overall pick. There are legit 5 without a doubt carry a team qbs right now.
-
But that’s the point. If you miss on an OG, they aren’t taking up like 50% of your cap. A lot of people thought Cousins was an average type qb but he had no problem getting a monster deal.
-
It was a bit tongue in cheek but what a smart person would do is break down the winners further. So what a smart fan would do is discount all the qbs before the salary cap ever. Even smarter is to then break down the qbs that have won a SB after the salary cap and see what their contract status was. Brady took less. Mahomes, Flacco, Wilson were in rookie deals. Foles was cheap. Rodgers made $10 million/ season when he won. of course there are exceptions. There are 5 guys who can almost single handedly carry a franchise. But again, Justin Herbert is on pace for 5,000 yards if hep payed in every game his rookie year. Call me crazy but I’d rather have that than Jimmy G, Tannehill, Stafford, Ryan, Cousins, Goff, Carr at over $25 million. And that’s a very fair point and that’s why teams do lock these guys up. I’m not really even talking about Allen because as many doubts as I’ve had about him, he possesses elite physical skills. I worry about the Bills after they pay him big money but I feel much better about him than I would if we had Carr or Cousins. I guess it might be a better question to ask with how easy it is to put up stats, how do you know which qbs are truly franchise guys?
-
You shouldn’t overpay Qbs. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule but look at the league now. Lamar won a MVP in his 2nd season. So did Mahomes. Joe Burrow, a good but not generational prospect, is on pass for 4,600 yards as a rookie! Justin Herbert, who no one thought was close to an elite prospect, is at pace that if he started 16 games, he would throw for 5,000 yards. fact is Qbs are completely overpaid and qb’s 2nd contracts kill your ability to build a roster. It has never been easier to pay qb in the NFL and college guys translate easier than ever. Obviously, there are exceptions to the rule (Seattle kinda sucks minus Wilson but he carries the team; Mahomes; Brady; Rodgers) but too many replaceable guys get paid too much. Also if teams stopped handing out monster to Deals to average talents like Goff and Tannehill (during Miami), it would bring the salaries down. And for the record, I’m totally down with every player getting every cent they can. But these contracts murder franchises.
