Doesn't Brohm have a pretty high contract for a backup? If so could them keep Levi and cur Brohm. I think the Bill's will draft a mid round QB. If they also sign a FA vet, then both may be done, otherwise my money is on Brown coming back.

I would doubt that very much. Where do you think people like Kiper and McShay get their info and put together their drafts. They talk to GM's, scouts, etc. Does Kyper attend the combines? Is he even allowed? How many college games and practices does he eve nattend. As much time as he spends on TV and radio, likely not many. So they talk wit hothers, like the GM's and scouts and based o ntheir concensus and other info and sources they have, they develop a draft. As far as wehre a Thompson or Polian had someone like Maybin. I'll guarantee you every year if you looked at the top say 30 players on every GM's list, more than half would be the same, another ten would be close and there would likely be one or twoplayers where one team rates him top 10 talent and another GM doesn't have him in the top 100. Every year it's a different player and a different GM with a very different opinion of a player. Was Maybin that guy? Maybe, maybe not, no one knows. But to say that those two didn't have Maybin in the 1st round is nothing more than pure speculation. Did they have him rated as hig has #10, again who knows??

It's very rare to ever hear a coach talk about a player o ntheir own team in such harsh words. Based on comments like that I'm guessing he will be cut this spring, but no sense cutting him today as it serves no useful purpose to the Bills. Not even sure if you could cut a player right now

I've read that the 18 game schedule is just a bargining chip by the owners. They will gladly give that up in exhcange for reduction in the % money given to the players. So will see what happens there.

If you read the article in todays Buffalo News about the Senior bowl and 7 of the last ten teams coaches drafted a player they coached. If that's true, maybe try harder to trade dow nto around 8 or 9 and select Von Miller since CG is coaching him.

Unless it's the Bill's there would be a large amount of money owed to Buffalo for territorial rights. Seems the NFL is a ways away from fileding teams in other countries, too many issues, do the players get paid in American $$, TV coverage and rights, How would they avoid forfeits when teams don't have enough players to suit up as half their team was stopped at the boarder due to the "No Felons" rule.

Emotion doesn't make you winners. See NE, Indy with Dungy, Bill Walsh, Levy wasn't all that emotional either. Yes Rex Ryan is, but don't recall any type of ultimatums either. Rarely does an owner ever want to box a coach into a corner like that. For one thing once he starts losing if he knows he'll be fired at year end, maybe the last half of the season he works more at finding his next job. On a few occasions there's been rumbling of an owner giving the coach an ultimatum of win or else seems to rarely work. I'm with most of the other here, who feel if it was year four or so then maybe though I still wouldn't put anything in stone about it. But after one year woul be totally stupid to do that. Coaches are usually given three years, GM's are usually given at least two coaches which works out to 5 or 6 years.

First off it's "Amish" Secondly, Amish QB's tend to get it done better in the NFL than glitter college QB's. You could field an entire roster of college superstars who's done nothing in the NFL. Will these two be the exception, maybe, but not likely. From what I saw of Tebow, he had one pretty good game and two average at best. Were they above average for a rookie, probably, but does that mean he will continue to improve, who knows. So to cal lhim a superstar is based on nothing but hope. Ususually gimic players can look good for a season or so until enough teams get film on them and figure out how to stop them. Look at Flutie, his first year in Buffalo, looked great, made the pro-bowl, second year, average (except in his own press conferences). Why cause teams figured out, clog the middle and don't let him take off and run. Make him throw to the outsdie. Once they did that, he was nothing special and you saw why he played in Canada and everywhere but the NFL all those years. I see a similar future for Tebow. And BTW, Tebow is no more a "winner" than Flutie was in college.

Well working backwards, that would indicate that if nothing is signed by mid Sept or so, likely done for the year. Last time there was a work stoppage was what 1987?? There was no free agency, training camp a bit longer and all the off seaosn mini camps either didn'tyet exist or were much shorter. Made tings much easier to crank things back up again. Actualy got me thinking, when did all the spring practice season an mini camps start happening? It wasn't always like that.

RW never really paid fo coaches and front office. He got luky though with Polian and Levy. Though I'm more inclined to think Levy was just at the right place at the right time due to the players Polian brught in. The only somewhat high paid coach he ever signed was Chuck Knox. I don't think even Levy made top $$ I don't think even TD was paid top $$ The problem seems to have been over past ten years, the decisions as to whom to sign have failed terribly. But he's paid pretty well doing it. Maybe now he's getting to the point f being gun shy, don't know. But figures he can lose just as well with cheap players as he's lost with expensive players too.

I agree.I do however also think that situations like this, time to sign draft choices, etc, will create a situation where the owners may be more willing to wipe out the entire season rather than having to rush things through if something is signed after August 1st. At that point the owners may figure, not worth trying to salvage the season, the longer we hold out now, the better deal the owners get as the players will more likely cave once the checks stop soming in.

Well to bring up a sore subject, the draft pick value chart, they'd need to give up much more than that, likely need to throw i ntheir 2rnd and 3rd round picks too. Or the two first rounds, their 2nd and next years 1st.

Really makes you wonder how much of Ryans entire "stick" was nothing more than a smokescreen as post game he did nothing but put all the prase on the players. He could have easily talked about HIS gameplan, but he didn't. I do wonder though if they will have too much of an emotional let down and be flat next week. But if it all was an act, then that should be preventable.

If you're somehow trying to imply that without the running into the kicker penalty every play and every result in the game down to the final kick by the Jets would have been identical, thus the kick would have come much earlier, giving Indy time for one last drive down the field after the Jet's kick; THAT is a huge stretch and totally unrealistic.

Absolutely correct. That's kind of trhe main point of this entire thread. Regardless of whether you feel SD or NY got a good deal in the trade, the Chargers only moved down 4 spots and got many picks in return. A team say selecting 15th in that draft would not have had enough picks to give up to move up that far regardless of how much they were willing to give up. It's no different than when people want to buy something, Sometimes you fall in love with something and pay more than you should. Maybe there's a house in a location you just love, the house should go for $200,000, but you just have to have it. The owner isn't even trying to sell the place. But you come along and offer him $400,000 for it so he takes the deal, You way overpaid, but you don't care. Well that only works IF you have toe $400,000. If all you have is $200,000 and can't offer up anything of value to close the gap, you're out of luck. The one way the Bill's could accomplish trading down further is through multiple trades. They trade the #3 down to maybe #7 picking up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. They they trade the 7th overall down to say #15, and pick up another 2nd and maybe a 6th. So overall the Bills, end up with one 1st rounder @ #15, three #2's including their own, two #3s including their own, and two #6s including their own That would yield six first three round picks. Could it be done, maybe, but likely the Bill's would have to take something less than fair value in one of the trades. Personally would I make those trades if I could even iof only receiving less than what is preceived as fair value for the extra picks, YES! But there still has to be someone offering close the value in return for it to happen.

But the rebuttal to that is the Bills ( or any other team) should have traded up if any team selected a player prior to them who excelled more than expected. There also in no guarantee that with the pick they trade down to doesn't become a bust (See John McCargo). There also is what I'd consider one other major flaw in your arguement. If in the Mike Williams example you give, the Bill's had traded down, but got poor value in return, there is no positive side. Yes they would have been media & message board bashing as you mentioned. But you can't even three or four years later argue, well see Mike Willimas was a bust anyway becasue if you trade down there never was a Mike Williams pick by the Bill's. Who's to know who we really would have picked. Same with Spiller. Who was the guy last year at #9 everyone was hoping the Bill's would have picked, can't recall anymore?? But i they had traded down, you have no idea who they would have selected. So tough to make the argument that even trading down was better as the player they selected wasn't any good anyway.

First off, don't yell at me, I'm agreeing with you. I was responding the the post where someone stated, "Look at prior trades, that proves teams don't go by the chart " The chart is a guide, Ideally every trade would work out exactly even points. In reality, most trades will come up either a little bit under or over depending on how much a team wants to trade up or down. Would some team give us all seven picks to move up, I highly doubt it. But if the chart states some team should be giving up say a 1st thru 3rd and next years 4th to trade with Cinny for the #4 overall, not to say we couldn't agree faster to the same trade and they'd be getting the #3 overall. In theory that means we should be getting a better deal than they offered for the #4 overall, but maybe we want the extra picks more and we take the deal. The chart would show we came out behind, but not by a huge amount. Would it be terrible for us notgetting perfect "chart value" but getting the extra picks, no. But likely there'd be a bunch of posts refrerencing the chart and how we got screwed and our front office are jerks. But totally agree with a spot in the top 5, hard to trade down more than a couple of spots, maybe 6 or 7 would be the lowest. Look at how much the Giants gave up to move from #4 to #1 overall for Eli Manning. Would have been very toughthough for a team picking much lowerthan the Giants to be able to offer enough to make the trade.

The chart is a guide, if a tema is desperate to move up, they will over pay as if a team is desperate to move down, they wil ltake les than the cart says they should get. If some team is totally in love wit hsome player at #3, they'd likely pay extra, but does that player exist this year?

It it tough for a team near the top to trade down for the reasons you stated. To trade down from maybe #3 to 5 or 6 can be done for not too many picks but in your example of the Redskins at #10 to move up to #3 would take alot of picks. I've always read the when dealing with the following years picks, you subtract one rounds worth of points away since the team isn't getting the pick right away and the uncertainty of where the pick wil lbe so. Using that value, they'd have to trade #'s 1 thru 3 this year and their second round from next year for the numbers to work out. I do agree with the other poster, there will be someone willing to trade up, wil lthey give us fair value based on draft pick points, maybe not, but it may depend on how desperate we are for extra picks. The Redskins could just offer up rounds 1 thru 3 for this year and hope we bite. We wouldn't be getting fiar value, but if we really want extra picks this year, nothing to stop us from doing it other than 100 posts ripping the Bills for not getting fair value. But the poster is correct, there likely will be people offering us something. Maybe not a good deal though!

Dick LeBeau doesn't appear ot be a real inspiring type of coach, but he get the job done and players seem to like him. As a coordinaotr I think X's and O's are more important than inspiration. Thats' what the head coach is for. BB doesn't exactly seem to be an inspiring type. But he's so good technically he makes other teams look bad.

I was cleaning out some cabinets the other day and found a 1991 newspaper from the day prior to the Superbowl agaisnt the Giants. There was an article about how BP built the Bill's etc. But one surprising statement was in 1985 after the 2-14 seasons, attendance was down etc. rumors of the Bill's moving were up, it mentioned a potential new home of Jacksonville. That was the first I had heard that location. Timing was about right in respect to when Jax did finally get a team. Now ready to lose it.

Regardless of what the new CBA decides, I doubt there will be an 18 game schedule in 2011. Earliest would likely be 2012 starting,
