  1. I'm on vacation right now in the Boston area and can tell you they are discussing on the radio shows whether NE will go undefeated. They are trying to be realistic about it so are settling in on 14-2!
  2. Last time I called I did speak with Customer retention, she looked at different things but told me there was nothing she could do as I was already getting all these credits. In fact while talking to her I started quoting posts from threads here on the page. I mentioned, "here's one 'so and so got Sunday Ticket for free, got $10 credit for 20 months" Right away her response was, yes he got credits and since you are already getting credits she couldn't give me more. I'll probably try again, but so far haven't had any luck even whe ntalking with customer retention. I can't wait for May 2014, then I can tell them I want it free or I'm gone and I'm making up for getting screwed the past two years! Though watch in April 2014, the NFL will announce Sunday Ticket is no longer on DTV!
  3. So is that basically what you need ot threaten them with disconnection? I'm still under my initial contract, so don't have that card to play. Well not without paying a few hundred in cancellation fees and they know it.
  4. I watch it every year and enjoy it. Just would enjoy it more without the rap music
  5. Just curious, how long have you had DTV? I've tried calling two or three times, have spoke with customer rentention and have got no where. I first got DTV in mid april, 2 weeks prior to them offereing it for free to new subscribers. The last person I spoke with in customer retention basically told me she can't give me any kind of a deal as I'm a new subscriber so am already getting all of these monthly credits; $29 for being new, $10 AAA discount, $10 for auto bill pay, etc, so no room to give anything else. Their argument does somewhat make sense, and reading through the threads, I did find mostly everyone who got a deal, weren't new and got the deal in the form of a credit.
  6. Yes, but at this point last season was anyone talking about Kyle William's injury?? I don't recall that happening. Point is it's easy now to say we're healthy, lets see how we look from an injury standpoint around Oct 15th or so. You're assuming everyone is going to recover fine and no new major injuries. I do think we will be much better, but wouldn't try to make the argument that it's due to last years injuries will make the difference.
  7. So will CBS finally give up having 60 Minutes "start" at 7:00? That had to really piss off all the non football fans having to wait for like 45 minutes for the show to come on and/or having to pad an extra hour onto the DVR and sometimes that wasn't enough. And backing up all the other shows by up to an hour for the nite. I'll give Fox credit for starting their programming at 8:00 and having a post game show, sometimes it was 10 minutes long, sometimes it was 40 minues long, likely this coming season will be 10 minutes shorter each week. I've alsways said ABC which is the one network that doesn't show any football on Sunday should put a news show on at 7:00 on Sundays, like 20/20 is it called and advertise that it WILL start every week at 7:00! I think they'd take many viewers away from 60 Minutes
  8. I wouldn't be shocked ot see Brad Smit hget cut to keep him. I just think they both offer a certain uniqueness and not enough snaps i na game to utilize them both, so one gets cut. And I think Dikerson may bring more to the table.
  9. Does Amtrak still run the train anymore to the games or did that idea die?
  10. Two other names I'd add to make the team are Lee Smith for a blocking TE and this Dickerson guy as another TE H back. I'd go as far to say I wouldn't be shocked to see them keep Dickerson and cut Brad Smith as I think there's quite a bit of over lap in what they bring to the table, but Dickerson may have more options. I don't see that there's enough snaps in a game to utilize both an H back and the Wildcat so one of them goes
  11. So I've only had DTV now for about three months so am still well under initial contract. Started service a little over two weeks after they offered free Sunday Ticket for new subscribers. When I originally signed up I even asked they guy about deals for Sunday Ticket to which he replied that's like 3 months away. In all likelihood he didn't know about upcoming offer. I've tried now twice to call up got the original person asked for deal, got the standard response that the $299/$199 offers are already a big discount. Told me couldn't give me anything better, I kept asking to transfer me to retention department, person last night responded there's no such a thing as retention department. I could hear her typing away in background for over 1o minutes. After that both times I was then placed on hold,( supposedly waiting for someone to answer) after 10 to15 minutes line went dead. Tonight ironically I got an email from DTV asking me to fill out survey about satisfaction over recent call, I gave them 1's! Will see if that gets me a response. So my question is with only being a 3 month subscriber still under contract, do I have much chance of getting any kind of a deal. Is there some better words to get them to transfer me. Are there limited hours that retention department is open? Likely by the time I got cut off last night was probably after 10:00pm. First time I called was on Saturday. I did also have DTV for about a 2 1/2 year period back around 6 years ago when I still lived in Western NY
  12. I don't disagree much with any of your comments, last year at this time many of those same things were true Merriman and Fred Jackson for a full season, how'd that work out. If the Bills can stay fairly injury free for most of the year, I agree it could be an exciting year, but need for that to happen first. Safety's are good, don't consdier them one of the best in the league and Glenn could be the answer at LT, but we don't know yet. He also could end up being the RT in the end too. Lets see how it works out.
  13. In addition to the other comments made, why would someone want to "pay" $400 million to become a managment company, thus not getting al lthe profits since they are not the owners. 20 years later she sells for $1.6 trillon and the managment company gets a farewell dinner. Could the deal be structured so they share in the profits sure, but why do that vs instead just buy the team. The difference with the Redskins and Jack Kent Cook was there wasn't a spouse, so no way to avoid the estate tax so they had to sell at the time.
  14. Two seasons ago the answer was no, not certain if it's changed por not. At the beginning of the seaosn there were "DVR like" buttons on the window, but they didn't work. After a couple of weeks the buttons disapeared completely. I was thinking at the time that maybe it was functionallity thye never got working in time, but would have rolled out by the next season, 2011. But I didn't bother with the package last year so don't know if they ever did move forward with it or not. There were a couple of things like that didn't work great but could have been improved. Yuo oculd watch four games at once but couldn't maximize the window so you're looking at a 2 X 3 inch screen. But if you viewed one window, it could be maxed.
  15. So in the past ten years or so went from cable to DTV, got a HD TV, at the time DTV wouldn't give me any kind of a deal on an HD DVR so went back to cable. (Six months later or so they were giving away like today but stuck with TWC). Then moved from Western NY to Carolinas where still had TWC After four years got tired of the yearly fight with TWC over increase in cost,at about same time DTV finally had locals in HD for city I lived in so went back to DTV about two months ago. I have the five tunrer HD DVR, unit works very well, equipment is superior to cable. I changed DVR with TWC a couple of times, but all you're really doing is going from one used DVR to another used, new to you piece of equipment. As far as numbers of HD stations, I actually think I had more with cable. DTV has more when you include all the Sunday Ticket channels and all 32 HD MLB channels, but for basic programming, seemed to be more with TWC. Not complaining about selection, but do think cable had more. I also think cable did a better job of organizing their channels, for example all sports stations are grouped together. With DTV all the ESPN's , NFL, NHL etc are together in low 200's but NBC sports,( the old Versus) is in the 600's as are a few others. Maybe DTV needs to go back and re-organize their listing as too many changes and things get mixed up. I recall cable did this a couple years back. In general am very happy with DTV, do like that I can get Sunday Ticket, but do think there was more HD selection with cable
  16. I'd potentially agree with you on OLB and WR ... IF.... you can pick up someone who's a clear improvement. Kind of like in 91 when the Bill's signed a FA named Lofton (or was it 92??) LT, you drafted Glenn #10 overall, let him take his lumps and learn on the field in the position you intend for him to play long term. If it's LT, then lat him start playing there now.
  17. I don't think this is an option for him. To sign up for the streaming service they ask you three questions ( I had the service two years ago, worked pretty well, early on had some bugs) The three questions are: Do you currently have DTV? Can you get DTV at this address? Have you ever had DTV at this address? Sounds like he use to have Sunday Ticket so unless he's moved since then, they can easily look it up. I just signed up for DTV this past spring as a new customer. They had on my record that I had the Sunday Ticket to Go at this address, so there was question as to whether they'd allow me to sign up for the new subscriber package. They did, but they knew I had it at this address. So I'd imagine if he tried to sign up, they'd tell him sorry, you're not eligible as you can receive DTV where you live. I'm guessing if a prior owner of a property had DTV at address you're living at now, that would prove you can get DTV so they wouldn't allow you to buy the "go package" .
  18. Was just visitng NYC, they do a similar thing, the hot dog guy on the corner may be a cop undercover, or someone sitting on a bench every day in the park. Since no one knows who is or isn't police, it's worked well they say.
  19. True, but you're not getting draft picks for McKelvin. Maybe if the draft was still 17 rounds long we'd have a shot at about a 15th or so.
  20. My thoughts exactly, sounds like he's trying to make light of the whole thing, just a little mishap.
  21. So we're keeeping a fourth rounder in Brooks as you think he's better or has more upside, and you exepct to get a 3rd or 4th for trading McKelvin?? If he's that good why would you possibly want to get rid of him? Sounds like the Bill's just wasted a 4th round pick on Brooks when you have another guy who's better. Or the likely outcome is you couldn't even get a 7th rounder for him, so you cut him or as someone posted, you keep him as he's in the last year of his contract anyway, so he's cheap. Florence who was picked up a FA beat out Mckelvin for playing time, wouldn't that stand to reason any team can easily find another FA cornerback who is better??
  22. The other thing I like about all the picks are they all played in big time programs. Yes I'm calling the ACC big time, (maybe somewhat borderline). Three SEC, three ACC, what's TCU, C-USA?? It's a better tactic than taking a guy from Troy state with a high pick!
  23. What if the Bills pick him and walking up to the stage he falls off and breaks his leg? What if Williams does come back as good as two years ago? Then you used the #10 pick on a backup.
  24. I live in NC but also have Time Warner down here. Just this past week I switched from TWC to DTV. I'm saving a lot of money the first year, 2nd year will save a little, 3rd year, who knows as contract will have run out so should be paying full price ? From what I've heard DTV is more willing than TWC is at giving you better deals as opposed to you leaving. In addition to saving alot of $$ the first year I also now have a whole house DVR with 5 tuners. For me to have a compatible package with TWC would have cost me close to another $40 per month so really saving much more and even after year two costs may be the same but do have the whole house DVR upgrade included for that price. So far from what I've seen picture quality is better with DTV than TWC (at least until a storm rolls thru) Interface is nicer, though seems slow for guide to open every time. As someone else pointed out, like it that all the HD channels sit on top of the equivelant SD stations, so don't need to remember two numbers. Liked some of the on-demand offerings better though TWC such as CBS on-demand. Actually am rather surprised that CBS isn't available on-demand like it is on cable. Am I just not seeing it?? Equipment also much better as with TWC you'd always be getting used equipment. They use these old Scientific Atlanta boxes, hard drives would often have bad sectors that wouldn't record, sound would drop out when using HDMI cable. Just the fact that with DTV you're getting new equipment is a huge step up. TWC offers free HD, nice except they conveniently forget to mention that you have to first have the digital cable box and a set top box. So after you've paid for that, they will swap out your SD box for an HD box. When I was still living in western NY and only had SD TV's I use to have basic cable, channels 1 thru 75, no set top box. If TWC truly offered free HD they'd allow me to still receive channels 1 thru 75 in HD without the set top box and digital cable. But they don't! But they did figure out how to claim they have free HD while requiring people to pay much more for the" free" service. As far as number of HD channels, comparing the list between TWC and DTV it may surprise people to hear but I actually found TWC has more. I did a similar comparison before I moved from Rochester and found the same thing was true there too at the time. But you always hear DTV claiming they have the most HD stations. I think how they are able to claim that is things like MLB TV, NBA TV, NHL, etc all of the games are broadcast in HD where as two years ago TWC had like two games a night in HD, last year was up to a half dozen or so. This year not sure what TWC is, but not likely 100% Compare to DTV where both home and away are broadcast in HD so that's like 30 channels per night per package that DTV claims towards their HD number total. Not claiming that I'd watch any of these but ones that don't seem to be broadcast in HD thru DTV were: E!, OWN, G$, TruTV, Oxygen, BBC America,, WE, TV one, Investigation Discovery, MavTV, TCM, Hallmark Movie Channel, Hub Admittedly the only one of these I've ever watched is TruTV for the first couple of rounds of the NCAA. One channel not in HD thought through TWC was the NFL network which I am glad to now have, but can understand TWC's position on that one. I likely will get Sunday Ticket too in the fall
  25. Yes but it is more than one. It's Darios having a year of experience, playing inside which is his more natural position, next to Kyle Williams who a year prior went to the pro bowl. It's having Anderson at the other end. On his own while not a great player, coupled with Williams on the other end, makes the whole font four look real strong. Add to that, Shepard, Sercy, and the CB Williams again having a year of experience makes them better. While every team in the league is helped by this, allowing last years rookies and this years to have a full off season, mini camps etc will agai nhelp the Bill's more than a team with much more experienced players. Having guys like Kelsey play in his more natural position again will make him look better. Conversely assuming Merriman is healthy he's being moved to a position and role he's not geared for. But really not much of a lose in my mind as I'm not really expecting much from him. Anything you could get out of Merriman in my mind is gravy. The big wild card in all of this is injuries. But the fact that they are a bigger team will help some and maybe the odds catch up for once and favor the Bills there with less people getting hurt. Where are the concerns? I think they are still an outside LB and one CB away from being very strong defensively. But a stong pass rush will hide some of this too.
