Unless he's due a big March 1st bonus payment, I'd say bring him back. Not much of a downside. I think I'd try to bring in some better depth though so if he doesn't work out, you have a better backup than we do now.

I've heard this argument a few times before. It's usually made by some politician trying to make himself sound like he's all for the fans when he knows it something that will never come about anyway. The problem I have with it I don't see any way you can legally enforce this after the fact. I could see it going to court and assume the group wins, you certainly could change the rules that from now on if you take money you can't black out the game. But with prior money a team could argue that wasn't the rules in effect when I took the money. Had that been the case I wouldn't have taken the money, I just would have moved the team instead. There are plenty of cities who signed these deals where they agreed to buy up all the left over tickets, thus guaranteeing every games a sell out. That's a simple way to fix it if those are the new rules, you take the money, the city promises to the remaining tickets, now all games are sold out so the black out rule never comes into effect and team still gets money for the stadium. Again though likely only the larger cities can afford to do this.

Kyle Williams placed on IR
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd also like to see both Williams and Darius inside at tackle provided you need to get either Shepard or Barnett to play OLB as both are looking too good to not be starting. Having Kelsey at one end also isn't a bad thing and Carrington at the other. I'd then sign a free agent OLB who can rush the passer and draft a CB in the 1st round. I'd then use 2nd round pick on a DE who maybe replaces Kelsey in a year. If Sheppard or Barnett can't play outside, then scrap it, leave Darius at nose and with K Williams, Carrington, and Kelsey at ends. CB's are then A Williams and rookie, with Florence as nickel and McKelvin as dime. I can stomach him as the dime! -
Free kick for 3 points
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's free because no one can rush and attempt to block, I believe even if there's no time left on the clock, but you call for a fiar catch, you can still attempt the kick. So with three seconds left, the other team punts, you call a fair catch, the clock has run out, but you can still kick it. I seen it used one time maybe 35 years ago by the Giants. (don't recall if they made the kick) Typcially would only work if the other team punts from deep in their own territory and it's not a great punt. I think the othe rteam can run it back so that's the one down side of it. -
SIX GAME REPORT CARD
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to st. pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are some of those guys like Bell, Johnson, Pears restricted FA? If so, Johnson was a 7th rounder, would that mean a team would only need to give up a 7th? Not sure what rules have changed either with the new CBA?? -
Totally agree, look how much cheaper Johnson, Losman and Edwards were

Say What You Want About Our Weaknesses
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BringBackFlutie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if the problem is George Edwards or the talent he has to work with. I think as the year goes on, guys like Darius, Sheppard, the DB who got hurt, will improve. Even Battern and Moats if they keep playing will improve. Add a 1st round CB in the draft and 2nd round inside LB, next season the defense could start to look pretty good. -
Well guess I was wrong!

the only debate is whether the Bengel touches Scott while Scott twas down.

Cincinnati roll call!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to southernbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is this actually the first game this year that we're favored? I didn't recall us being the fav over Oakland and certain we weren't @ KC?? -
Every QB and team in the league does the same. The difficult part is figuring it out. That's what make's Fitz different than many QB's, his smarts allows him to find the ope nguy.

You want to not have people belittle and disagree with you, try getting you facts right to start with. He took a TO to prevent the clock from running which was smart thing and actually was rather impressive that after having a long heated argument with the official, he still had the presense of mind to take the TO. Many a coach oin that situation would have totally forgot that the clock was running. As was pointed out he shook Chan's hand and even spoke a few words. BB is certainly dull to listen to, but as was stated part of his dullness is due to never throwing anyone under the bus. so he pretty much says nothing. I've never seen a team make less "bulletion board" material statments. So tell me what should BB have done to make him be a better sport in your eyes. Should he not have argued with the official. Well yes that would make him a better sport, but he clearly is far from the first to argue a call. At tthis leve lall coaches argue, Well maybe not DJ As far as the cheating comments go, the only difference between him and other NFL coaches was that he got caught.

When Fitz bobbled the kneel-down
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to DaveinElma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wasn't worried as there was a flag and I was about 95% certai nit was going to be a personal foul against NE as the ref threw the flag as soon as the NE player hit Fitz. The good news also was that made it automatic 1st down which assured the Bills would be able run the clock down and kick a FG I was a little surpirsed though that the Bill's didn't take their 2nd TO with about 9 sec,s just in case there was a problem with the snap, they still could have taken their last TO and kicked again. Would have meant a potential KO and one last play by NE -
I believe the grounds crew took them down to avoid them being torn down.

Is Fitzpatrick the perfect QB
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to bills7834's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've often said, if the coaches were reveresed for that game we win. Even the other three while the other team did have the better team with better stronger coaching we may have won one of them too. The first game against the Giants we had the better team but were out coached (don't forget too that one of those coaches was BB himself). That was why we only had 19 minutes of possession. That being said, I also think that Levy was the right type of coach to get us back to four straight. A more intense type of coach would have easily burnt out the team. -
Most of these guys if not all were here before Doug was head of pro personal if not here before Doug was here at all, so can't give him credit.

I live in N Carolina, with about 8 minutes left they switched from the Jet's game to the Bills and stayed with it right to the end. -

He does make a valid point. Considering what little talent Jauron was given to work with by the GM at the time, it's no wonder he didn't win much. -

Should be one of the easier things to do as likely will stay in same seat on bench for entire game. Once in awhile may get up for a drink of water?? -
Indy radio host says Peyton Manning
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man I don't know, would you really want to listen to three hours of that accent?? And I live in North Carolina, should should be use to it! I'll give him his due, I do like many of the commercials he's done, kind of cute, but that's only for 30 seconds at a time. I like the guy, am certain he would be hired in a second as a analyst but of fthe top of my head, I can't think of another one with such a thick accent. -
And then there were 27...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On some thread I read where someone ripped Nix for cutting Wang, "there goes another wasted pick by Buddy" was the theme. So if you measure how well a GM does by saying every draft pick has to make the team or he's terrible. Well there are 7 picks per season on average, add one to two voluntary retirements per year, another couple of players each year who got hurt and are not ready to come back the following season, I'd be surprised if almost every team doesn't turn over 10 players a season. So in three years that's 30. Take that away from the 54 you started with that says in three seasons, most team wouldn't have more than 25 players left, so the Bills at 20 isn't off by much. Some of the top teams, Pitt, Indy, NE, Saints, may be a little less turnover, rebuilding teams like the Bills 20 is probably about right.
