  1. What about Sunday Ticket to Go? Anyone get a discount on that as a stand alone subscription?
  2. Did you mean like this week? The way the rules were written last year, the Bill's couldn't have extended Poz as with the uncapped year there was some rule which limited the increase a player could be given. Since he wasn't a 1st rounder, the increase was very small, too small for him to ever agree to. So the Bill's were forced (as I'm sure many other teams were) to wait with attempting to sign him until a new CBA was in place.
  3. I'm no tax expert, but estate tax only comes into play when the person dies. RW didn't die so he couldn't take advantage of the 2010 no limit. On the other hand selling a share, he would end up paying tax on the 30% sale now, so would it be worth it?? RW doesn't know what future estate or capital gains tax laws will be so would it be worthwhile selling a share and paying the taxes now based on something that is unknown as to what the tax implications will be in the future?
  4. I also had this web based service last year and agree with it being over priced and no deals available either. I also experienced the "Service not available" a few times. Quality wasn't great though it seemed to improve towards year end so am hoping it was sign of working kinks out. I probably will order agai nas it beats messing aorundd wit hal lthe links that work for 20 minutes, then get cut off by NFL! For me it's worth it to avaoid the hassles.
  5. Publications like to write about Romo, and Brees. The Bills and Fitz don't make the press.
  6. Assuming the lockout lasts until say July, I think losing that much would pretty much eliminate any chance of any rookie QB's starting this year from week #1 , even Newton. I also think it will also hurt any player from looking like a typical 2nd year player in 2012. He'll be betterthan rookie, but not as seasoned as much as most 2nd year QB's tend to look. Granted a hard thing to quantify as there are huge differences between how well 2nd year QB's look anyway from team to team. But everyone will be hurt by it, how much will vary by player.
  7. And I'm sure the only reason you're not working full time for an NFL team as gm or chief scout is you don't want to end up get some high salary and be in a high tax bracket. It's amazing how many people here think they know more than people who do this for a living full time. I can maybe to some level accept people debating 1st or 2nd round picks as there's enough written about these guys to form opinions on them without really analyzing any hard data, you just read other peoples comments and form your own opinion. (and call yourself an expert, hell it works for Mel Kyper) But anyone on this board who thinks they know more than professionals about 6th and 7th round picks is nothing other than delusional and really needs people to tell them how smart they are.
  8. That was only to move from #4 to #1, granted the 3rd overall pick isn't wort has much as the #1 overall, but likely need a couple more picks thrown in. Or the Bills could take the deal as they want the extra picks even if not getting good draft chart value. Supposedly it's a down draft which would mean other teams would offer less t omove up.
  9. Let's add to it that even if the Bills want to make that trade, unless there's a CBA in place by the date of the draft, you can't trade players, so you're out of luck.
  10. Can it be mandatory?? North Carolina for example is a "Right to Work State" menaing you can't be forced to join a union even one exists where you work. I believe there are other similar states. So how would that work??
  11. And how do you know that Brandt and others in similar positions aren't somehow being financially rewarded for talking up certain players?? Wouldn't at all surprise me to see these guys get some type of thank you, maybe not cash, but maybe a cruse or something?? Every year there's someone who prior to the draft is being talked way up, but then falls way down in the actual draft. So apparently the GM's are much less impressed with these guys. Can't recall any of these guys becoming sensations either that the GM's didn't expect so seems to me the GM's have a better hanlde on things.
  12. Mel Kiper says he will go #3, that settles all debate. We must select him now, because Mel can not be wrong. Though I did hear Mel now admit his "stock" is falling.
  13. I read his column today which states the Bills can't afford to pass on Newton. I realize he's a columnists whose main purpose is to stir things up. From everything being stated, I'd be surprised if the Bills were to select Newton, partically now that thngs out of the combine stated his "stock" dropped which makes me wonder if Sully wrote this article now, this way if the Bil's don't pick Newton, this topic is worth 2 or 3 more columns ripping the Bill's Three or four years from now if it turns out Newton is a great, Sully can write more articles, if he's a flop, no one will remember Sull'y article anyway. So it basically is a can't lose situation for Sully to be in. Again, I understand that's his job, to write the opposite of what happns to stir things up.
  14. So if one of Lockers issues is accuracy, and I keep hearing how Fitz isn't the answer @ QB primarily due to accuracy issues, then why should we take Locker?? I agree with earlier post, maybe 3rd or 4th round I'm fine, but second round sounds too high for a guy who has the same shortcomings as the person you presently have, and Oh BTW, Fitz doesn't appear to have any issues with decision making. I've often wonder how the kid from Syracuse (think his name was something like Greg Paulli??) who went to Duke to play basketball, would have done instead if he had gone to a big time school for football. I believe he set records in HS for TD passes, or if not records were certainly high numbers. After not playing college football for 4 years, he returned to SU as a grad student and looked pretty good for the one season of eligibilty he had left. By the time he was a senior at Duke, he ended up getting benched too BTW. At the time I gave him credit for sticking to his love, playing basketball at Duke, but did think he likely was giving up on potential millions of $$!! Anyone ever hear what that kid is doing? Is he playing basketball someplace, or football? Did he latch on someplace in Europe?
  15. I'll volunteer for that job. Send the money to my PO box in Bolivia.
  16. Huh?? I just read Chan's comments he doesn't sound all that impressed about Newton. It could be a smoke screen, that they want others to think they don't want him so no one will try and jump over them to #2, but if you're quoting the "talking heads" the #1 or 1A head don't sound all that interested. Cna and Nix are the only heads thta matter. Guys on ESPN can tell you who the Bill's should take, but that means little. As far as Chan's comments go, glad to hear as those are many of the same fears I have about Newton. Can't see the Bill's taking him @#3 to use as a "wildcat QB"
  17. Would be nice if they also mended fences with Rochester and made them their farm team again. At the time of the split. there were issues on Rochesters end too, but I believe most of those "issues" are long gone.
  18. The difference being Merriman was picked up via waivers, so no bidding war, no signing bonus, etc.. Even with all of Sanders injuries, there likely will be bidding and a signing bonus of some degree involved. So could cost alot more for someone who doesn't work out. Even with Merrimans latest signing, it doesn't appear it will cost the Bills much if he doesn't work out.
  19. Sounds like he wants ot go west, so Seattle, Arizona would work. What about SanFran?
  20. I also was thinking that if you gave a 427 HP car to Big Ben, how long would it take him to wrap it aorund tree
  21. My favorite anthem redition was listening to Roger (can't recal lthe last name Do'Chet maybe??) sing Oh Canada from up in the Forum in the late 70's early 80's. He'd do one verse in French too I recall. Actually from a pure song perspective I enjoy hearing Oh Canada better than the US Anthem.
  22. They said a similar thing when Marv Levy made it as he was working for oneof the networks at the time.
  23. Totally disagree. RW has stated all along that is what will happen, however until he actually dies, we don't know that. The team could pass on to his wife totally estate tax free. Previously it has been stated she has no interest in owning the team. Have not heard that publicly stated as of late i nregards to that. Maybe she's changed her mind. She also could own the team but make someone else CEO, another president adnd essentially be a silent owner. (Probably something Roger Godell would welcome these days a silent owner) While the NFL may not like it, and not want to approve a silent owner, I'd imagine it would take years of court battles for someone to agree that the power of the NFL supecedes someones will. My response above is pure speculation as is anyone else who claims to "know" what is going to happen. Unless RW has sat down and shared his will with you, you don't know. This is just another potential direction things could go in.
  24. What about Kent Hull? He was the anchor of the line. Don't recall many pro-bowls though??
  25. In fairness to the original poster, out of the people mentioned so far, for the most part, none were viewed as young franchise type QB's who were let free by their original team. The only exception would be Brees, but even there, there was a reason. He appeared to be a bust so SD drafted Rivers, then Brees played great the next year so now SD had to very good QB's and they let one go. NO was still taking a bit of a chance in signing him as he may have been a one year wonder. Vick, Farve, Flutie, and Warner all had questions or limited life left in them. All four did have some success, but did not become the long term answer to the team aquiring them. Can you trade for one like the back up in Phily. Yes but as is the case in Philly teams often ask way too much for a guy who has shown streaks of greatness, but not enough to be worth what Eagles are asking for. Having said that unless some player comes out of the combines worthy of the #3 overall, can't see it happening. So far no QB's are in that mode.
