James Cook #2 in Rushing after Tonight's game
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Silvercrw's topic in The Stadium Wall
This team is almost a statistical impossibility. They are plus 104 in point differential (4th in the league). The combined record of the top 9 teams in point differential outside of the Bills is 59-20. -
The Knox contract really isn't a problem IMHO. At this point, Kincaid looks like he could be an elite level TE and should be TE1 without any debate unless he proves otherwise at some point. But, he's going to be on a rookie deal for the remainder of Knox's contract so the money being spent at the position in total probably isn't too bad. Knox hasn't been perfect, but he's been pretty good and does make plays. As a TE2, you can't ask for much better than Knox. We just shouldn't force 12 personnel. Run some 2 TE sets at a normal clip and get Knox in when it suits the situation, or as a backup when Kincaid can't go.

McDermott answers why we stopped uptempo offense

“Other styles of offense” = huddle up and run shotgun draw and kill a few drives -
It’s hard to say what exactly is going on with this team, but something is off. Diggs is still great and Kincaid looks like he is going to be great as well. It definitely seems like they inexplicably go away from what is working and have this core set of plays on offense that they keep going to in lieu of what works. The defense, unfortunately, is what it is. We were blessed with elite safety play for a very long time and those safeties made this defense go. Clearly they have hit the wall and Rapp doesn’t look great either. This offense is going to have to score 30+ to win these games against good teams. It seems like they still can, but are really struggling with doing things that work. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, McDermott always seems to find a way out of these funks. Even though he was in year one, that historically bad stretch in 2017 had people calling for his job. It’s hard to believe that team mad the playoffs after that. The 2021 team that was 7-6 also seemed dead in the water. We will see if he still has answers to turn this around, because this team not making the playoffs seemed unfathomable.

Joseph pitching Burrow 5 yards back into the backfield on that QB sneak was huge. -

Gugny, my good friend, you are spot on per usual! It seems the way teams have to play Josh by committing personnel deep to stop the big play, staying in lanes so he doesn’t take off running for 40 yards himself, etc. leaves a lot of room for these short to intermediate routes. He checked it down to Murray once in the Miami game and he took it for 20 yards up the sideline. The pass he floated over to Cook damn near went all the way. If Josh keeps taking those plays, it’s close to impossible to beat this team.

Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unbelievably heartbreaking for Tre. As great as yesterday was, it sure put a huge damper on it. These guys had to be looking forward to finally getting everyone on the field at the same time with Tre, Von, Micah, Poyer, etc. It's such a shame for Tre... it's gotta be brutal to finally get all the way back and have to start over again with this type of thing. -
Toney is good at separating the ball from his hands.

Looks like the Chiefs have Ruvell Martin and Marcus Easley out there at WR. That was unbelievably bad.
-
Agree… in the context of our cap situation, it wasn’t feasible. He’s a good player, but he hasn’t reached the ceiling he potentially has with his physical gifts. You can do better, but you can also do much worse at MLB. Unfortunately, it looks like we are in position to do the latter. Milano turning out not just to be a good player, but a great player also factored in to how much money was left.

This sounds about right… we are worse off without him, but he probably isn’t worth the contract he got. He is a good player.

Josh Allen and starters will play against the Bears
Cotton Fitzsimmons replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
One would think if they zip down the field for a quick TD, that will be it. But, if they recreate last week’s miscues, you have to wonder how long McDermott will leave them in. -
Absolutely heartbroken to hear this. God bless you RJ… you were truly the best of the best.

Rocky, my good fellow, the hook brings you back…
