  1. I think there's a number of things at factor there, beyond just the knee. Between the knee not responding as quickly as he was put on the field and then domestic/legal problems on top of it, he was mentally destroyed. One thing that I think was a major factor that doesn't get talked about is on top of that, getting sober. As someone who had issues myself, getting clean has a massive impact on your day to day for a while. You essentially have to re-teach yourself how to live from the ground up. Everything you did while using alcohol and substances as a crutch feels completely different and more difficult without it - both mentally and physically. Something as simple as brushing your teeth or making food feels hard. All the while, you battle the urge to not relapse and the feelings that come with that. All of those things came together at once and we saw the results. Hopefully, being motivated by being counted out by everyone, having time to rehab his knee further, more time to acclimate to sobriety, and getting the legal stuff behind him - we see something closer to 2022 Von next season.
  2. Yeah, Beane's MO is to move up a a few picks if there's someone there he likes and is afraid one of the teams ahead of him are going to select him. He got antsy with both Kaiir Elam and Dalton Kincaid. If he really likes one of the WR's that have fallen to that 24-27 range, he'll make a call to secure them. But he's not moving up any substantial jump. Fans need not even bother thinking about Harrison, Nabers, or Oduze. Any substantial move up's will occur in Rounds 2-7, more likely 3-7. The cost is just too great in Round 1 and we don't have the ammunition.
  3. Nabers or Oduze is a pipe dream. They're universally mocked in the Top 5-10 picks. Them falling would be one on the board at 12-15. The cost to move up even that high would be too great. He's not giving up two 1st's and teams knowing where we pick on a yearly basis, that wouldn't even be enough.
  4. Yeah, I think some are still operating under the assumption that the Edmunds compensatory that's coming is an extra 3rd. It's not. It just replaces the 3rd we already traded away. Moving up 10 picks with some extra picks on Day 3 isn't possible. Every year, fans talk about trading next year's picks. He hasn't done that and with our books the way they are, he can't really afford to.
  5. Yeah, we have a lot of picks this year. But we also have a lot of holes and not a lot of cash, once he digs us out of the hole we're in. He already gave up his extra 3rd for Rasul Douglas. So he's not going to give up anything more on Day 2. Day 3 picks aren't going to move us up more than a couple picks here or there. If someone falls to like 25 or something, we'll do a small move up like we did for Kaiir Elam and Dalton Kincaid. But moving up 10 picks, i'd doubt it.
  6. Josh's girl is in the MCU and took down the Kingpin. Big win. You think Taylor Swift is going toe to toe with Wilson Fisk? 😆
  7. Considering he's never Drafted a WR before Round 4, of which Gabe Davis was the only 4th Rounder (everyone else was picked Round 5-7) - I don't know how you can make that assessment. Actually, considering that fact, landing guys like Davis, Khalil Shakir, Ray-Ray McCloud, and Isaiah Hodgins - who have become contributors here or around the league, I'd say his success rate is actually pretty good. Justin Shorter was red shirted last season so we don't know what he'll become yet. The only ones to fail were Marquez Stevenson (Late 6th) and Austin Proehl (Round 7). Going 4 of 6 on Day 3 Draft Picks, who are still on rosters with varying degrees of success is about as good as you can ask for. It's exceedingly rare to find a stud on Day 3.
  8. Why do we need an extra 2nd to do that? If we have a hole at DT and he's there, just Draft him.
  9. I had a couple friends that were addicted to Oxy. I kept telling them to get clean and not buy anything off the street. They went to bed one night and didn't wake up the next morning. Since Doctors stopped prescribing Hydrocodone and Oxycontin - most of the pills on the street are Fentanyl being passed off as Prescription. The tiniest amount and it's game over. The difference between a non lethal dose and a lethal dose is RAZOR thin. And the people cutting it aren't exactly careful. Don't do pills in today's day and age, kids. As soon as I heard this story, I knew it was Fentanyl. 3 different people don't just OD all at the same time any other way.
  10. Ty will be back, I'm sure. Played as the 3rd/4th RB on the depth chart for us last year. It's brutal for RB's in the FA market. No one's going to be beating down the door for an RB2/3. He's earned it and I'm sure he'll want to return. And it should cost us little to nothing. Hines just replaces Murray in the backfield and Harty on Returns. Cook and Ty maintain their roles. Probably will Draft a guy in the late Rounds as well to replace Harris as a heavy and/or development.
  11. Fixed it for you. It always slays me when people say this like it's a certainty. Maybe in their mind, but I've yet to hear anything leaked that he's on a 1 year Super Bowl or Bust mandate - except from fans. Agreed. They have to miss the playoffs and/or he has to lose the locker room.
  12. Our luck is maddening sometimes. Mahomes had a lot of buzz going into the 2017 Draft. There were questions though. He was a late riser after a wild workout and good interviews. At that time, being a Texas Tech QB was like wearing a Scarlet Letter. Many had come through that system and put up wild numbers and then not translated to the NFL level. I think McDermott and Beane's professional courtesy to Doug Whaley and Tyrod Taylor did us in. There's no way McDermott came in not knowing Beane was going to be coming with him. But rather than immediately take him on, they decided to let Whaley and his staff see through all the work they put in for 10 months. But they weren't going to select the QB of the future without Beane fully at the helm. And I think McDermott knew Taylor wasn't the guy. But for building goodwill in the locker room, he wanted to give him a year rather than come in and clean house. Maybe he even felt that there was a slight chance Taylor could grow under different coaching. There was also a thought at the time of the 2017 Draft that the 2018 Draft had much better QB's and an all time class. I remember thinking when we made the trade "with our luck, Mahomes will be a Franchise QB and the guy we take next year will bust". Luckily, our selection would turn into a most likely Future HOF'er. But, unbelievably, the guy we gave to the Chiefs would not only turn out to be a Franchise QB - but maybe the greatest QB of all time 🤦 I used to take solace in the fact that they got Mahomes and we got ammo that turned into Allen, White, and Edmunds. But then Edmunds left and White is destroyed. Still - it's hard to cry over Josh Allen. Who knows if Mahomes would have became the same guy under this regime and supporting cast as he did under Andy Reid.
  13. Oh I don't doubt Campbell could still be a decent RB in today's day and age. But the legendary, every down, impossible to tackle, destroyer of men's souls that he was back then? No way.
  14. Earl Campbell? Who around the league looks like Earl Campbell, save for King Henry and Leonard Fournette - who are both between having lost a step or toast? Earl Campbell wouldn't be half the RB he was then today. You're stuck in the past. You don't see Jack Lambert smoking cigarettes on the sidelines today. Nor do you see RB's with 4.6 speed rolling down the field and mowing everyone in their path over on the regular. Those days are gone.
  15. I mean, you're clearly not Terry Pegula because none of these ideas you have are happening (or even remotely based on reality).
  16. So now you not only feel that James Cook should be replaced as RB1, you think Beane should be fired, and Sean McDermott should be HC and GM?! Holy hell man.
  17. Warriorspikes! A somewhat realistic offseason plan? I like it! I think Brown is in that area that is possible. Just have to hope his market stays reasonable and we're willing to go a little high on one of our FA's. But there's still a few small issues I have with this scenario: 1.) Harty's gone. There's an out in his contract and given our cap situation, we have to take that contract off our books. Thanks for the Miami return, but we need more from the WR position than he gave us and we have to get money off our books anyway we can. 2.) If we did sign a Hollywood Brown level FA to pair with Diggs and Shakir, we wouldn't go back to back in Round 1 and Round 2 on top of it. You're not going to spend a Day 2 pick on a WR that will be no greater than 5th behind Diggs, Shakir, Brown, and a Round 1 WR. Especially when we have so many holes on the roster and not a lot of money to do it. With what Brown would cost us, we'd need to use 1 of the first 2 picks on another position. More likely 2 of the first 3 elsewhere (especially if we used Round 1 on a WR). It's more likely a Kaiir Elam/Christian Benford double dip situation. Would be 1 in Round 1 or Round 2 and then another on Day 3. Somewhere between Round 4 and Round 6. The only possible way I see us going Round 1 and Round 2 or even Round 1 and Round 3 on WR is if we aren't able to get a veteran FA that they liked. So, yeah, it's either the Day 1 and Day 2 Double Dip or Hollywood (or like FA WR) and 1 WR in the first two Rounds. It won't be both. 3.) We won't be keeping 7 WR's. We only kept 5 this season. I see that number going up to 6 this season, our usual. But I don't see 7. But, yeah! I like what you're cooking here. Based on last year, I half expected to see you say sign Higgins in FA, Trade for Davante, and Draft a WR in Round 1 and Round 2 lol I think we're kind of on the same page here for once. I just see it more like: Diggs (Round 1 or 2) Shakir Hollywood (or similar level FA) (Round 4 to 6) Shorter Combine that with ascending weapons like Kincaid and Cook and I think we're in much better shape than last season.
  18. I've yet to hear that he's unhappy in Cincinnati or that Cincinnati doesn't want him back. On the contrary, Duke Tobin said he wants him back. Chase, Burrow, and Higgins are tight. Given Cincinnati's cap space, them wanting him back, him having a good relationship there with a Top 5 NFL QB, Chase and Higgins being so integral to their success, having Chase for 2 more years under his Rookie deal, and having the ability to easily retain him without having to even let him hit the market - I dont see how he goes anywhere. It would be like us having a bunch of money and then making the choice to let one of our top players go when we didn't have to. But I guess we'll see. One things for sure though, wherever he plays next season - it won't be Buffalo.
  19. Either he gets his extension this summer with his 4th and 5th year hits remaining on his Rookie deal, or they wait until next offseason or the following to do the extension. The result remains the same though. Cap wise, Chase stays far lower than he should for two more seasons. The Bengals big advantage is having essentially two #1's on the field. They can afford to pay for both Chase and Higgins for at least two more years. Could easily give Higgins an extension for 3 more seasons, that pays him well and keeps Chase at the same time. Put in an out after Year 2, in the event that they can't afford Higgins and Chase beyond that. At 61 million under, the Bengals are in great shape cap wise. Remove Higgins and that greatly effects their Offense. They're in a position where they don't have to do that. If they can't get a deal done before the window, they'll Franchise him so he doesn't hit the market and then work out the extension so he's not playing on the tag. I never suggested he'd be playing on the Tag anyways.
  20. Good morning. Hope you got a good nights rest and have calmed down a bit. So our fans are wrong? The fans of other teams are wrong? The players in the NFL are wrong? The analysts are wrong? It's just you who's right then? Replacing Cook as RB1 is the exact opposite of a "no brainer decision". Please show me "most arm chair fans (who) can easily see the error" of having James Cook as RB1 this season. Not only is it not "most" - as far as I can tell, you're a "onemangang". You keep saying Josh is the main rusher. But that's just false. Of the 2,212 yards of total rushing this season - Josh accounted for 524 of them. That's less than 25%. Should he account for zero? Josh Allen is not a pocket QB. He doesn't have the pinpoint accuracy to just sit back and throw it every play. If you remove his abiity to pick up first downs with his legs when things break down, you're nerfing the hell out of him and our offense. I don't care who we have in the backfield, Josh is going to run it if there's an open lane and he should.
  21. It's not just the consensus here. Listen to analysts talk about him. His own peers league wide voted him to the Pro Bowl. Garbage time? Watch the Cowboys game for example. He was the entire offense, start to finish. Literally no analyst of football of sound mind is looking at James Cook and saying "he's a problem, they need to find someone to replace him". And in the condition this team is in cap wise and the holes we have, it's an even crazier proposition. Hope you have a good night though. You seem a little wound up. Take a couple deep breaths.
  22. My dude, you're the one quoting statistics about Rushing QB's and no QB that leads his team in Rushing having ever won one. Yet stats say he doesn't lead the team in Rushing. And with Cook finishing the year with 1122 yards on the ground and Allen at 524, there were more games were Allen wasn't the leading rusher than was. And why do you keep bringing up Purdy? I don't get what you're going on about. Whatever it is, he and his team are in the Super Bowl this year. So like, I don't know, that's pretty good? I just find it hilarious that you're talking down a guy that was 4th in Rushing and voted to the Pro Bowl by his peers. Universally praised by analysts. Mine is not a "homer" take. It's pretty much the consensus.
  23. So you're quoting statistics to make your insane argument, but then choose to ignore them at the same time? Statistics would say Josh Allen wasn't the best runner on the team this season and it will be the same next season. .... what are you even on about? How are you jumping to these conclusions? Oh, I think I see what's happening here. You shouldn't drink and post. Also, it's going to be okay. Everything's going to be okay.
  24. Any way you try to slice it, anyone who finishes their campaign 4th in the entire NFL in rushing is a "legit RB1" We're ~52 million over the cap, need to find starters at WR, DE, DT, and S and a whole ton of depth - with 22 players hitting the market (and more that will need to be cut to clear space). And you want to "spend a buck" to replace our young Pro Bowl RB? Yeah, that's just crazy talk.
  25. Saw you talking about Cook getting stopped on the last 3 plays. You seem to be on a kick that Cook isn't good enough. Considering he ended his campaign 4th in the league in Rushing and a 1st selection Pro Bowler - kind of an odd time to take this stance. You are aware that this happens to even the best RB's in the league, right? I've seen the mighty King Henry stopped in the clutch in games too. If the blocking ain't there, the running play gets blown up. Simple as that. Especially if the opposing team knows we're trying to play the clock and is keying on the run. We need to do a lot of things to this team this offseason. Looking for an RB1 isn't one of them.
