  1. I think unless there's an injury to Deonte Harty or Khalil Shakir before the season or during it, it wouldn't make sense. You don't need 3 slot WR's on the team.
  2. That's not true. He had a partial tear repair, not a full AC reconstruction. He might not be ready for the start of the season, but Beane himself has said he expects to have him most of the year.
  3. And how did Isaiah's stats look compared to Cole Beasley's in any year he was the full time starting slot? Isaiah was given the starting slot role to fill Cole's shoes. In 2020 Cole had 82 catches. In 2021 Cole had 82 catches. In 2022 Isiah had 42 catches. That speaks to a lack of getting open.
  4. I'm in agreement. I think with the 12.5 we'd have releasing McKenzie and doing a better contract on Dane plus whatever else we would save from extending Jones, we should be able to take care of a couple things and then head to the Draft. I'd leave Oliver on the team and leave other contracts alone.
  5. Beane says they have about 9 right now. He also all but said Isaiah McKenzie will be released in the coming days which will save another 2.5. He also mentioned plans to get Dane Jackson under a deal that would lower his 2.7 hit. If/when those things happen, we'll probably be at around 12.5. He also mentioned he'll need about 3 for the Draft and 3 for the Practice Squad though. Looking at things, I think next up after McKenzie could be an extension for Daquan Jones that could save some this year. But after that, it's hard to really see where else they could save more. They theoretically could trade Ed Oliver which could save 10, but then we'd need someone to replace him bc we'd be left with just Daquan Jones and Tim Settle. Re-structuring Tre could be tricky because there's an out that could save us a LOT of cap space after this season if he were to prove not to return to form. Dion could be a possibility too but his contract isn't exactly clear on Spotrac.
  6. There wasn't any real interest last offseason coming off a much better year, including that miracle game he had against the Patriots. I'm sure he'll get a gig to compete with somebody in Training Camp somewhere. But I'd be shocked if he garnered much interest.
  7. It's the lack of production, the lack of getting open, and there were some mistakes (like a poster listed above) that caused him to end up in the doghouse and be a healthy scratch in our last game and a couple other times down the stretch. If McKenzie was performing well, we would have never brought Cole Beasley back and given him reps that should have went to McKenzie. It isn't "hate" so much as it's a business. We just signed Deonte Hardy who the team views as an upgrade and Khalil Shakir is ready to step up. Those two aren't going anywhere and there's no need to have 3 Slot WR's on one team. Combine that with the fact that McKenzie would clear 2.5 million on the salary cap and it's really a no brainier.
  8. I'm not for or against the idea of Singletary coming back. I'm simply aware of the RB market situation and the emphasis this regime places on bringing back their own and team chemistry. Motor is one of the most popular guys in the locker room. And we've always carried 4 RB's on the roster. Wouldn't shock me to see Hines taking Taiwan's spot being a core Special Teamer who provides more on offense than Taiwan did.
  9. I'd be shocked at this point if Singletary doesn't come back on a team friendly deal. RB's aren't banking their estimated values to begin with and he's running out of options with the amount of them that have been signed already. Whether simply running back what we had last season is the right move or not is debatable. But I think the writing is on the wall that that's what we're going to do.
  10. "Too much duplicate" is exactly what I was thinking. There's absolutely no need to have 3 slot WR's. To me, it's obvious. Cut McKenzie and save 2.5 million. We need all the help we can get right now and Harty/Shakir have that position covered.
  11. I can understand *hoping* for one of those guys. But saying it's not successful unless we do is kind of ridiculous. Given that we went into this being 18+ million over the cap and having 24 players with their deals up - simply getting back Poyer and filling as many holes as possible with players who have even the potential to be an upgrade from who they're replacing is a massive success. I didn't see a situation where we wouldn't regress given where we were at. Expecting multiple big name signings was always ridiculous.
  12. Sure seems that way, doesn't it? Unless someone pays him, at this rate he'll have no choice but to come back to us on a team friendly deal.
  13. Oh, for sure. We at the very least need to bring back David Quessenberry or sign an equivalent FA to replace his spot on the roster. But a player like La'el Collins or a 1st Round pick probably isn't in the cards as it would be an outright replacement of Spencer Brown, which I don't see them doing yet.
  14. Not in fans eyes. But if you've listened to Brandon Beane at all Postseason - he's made it pretty clear he thinks not having a Training Camp and injuries were the cause of his not performing well last season. He seems to have full faith in him.
  15. It's only been rough if you were expecting some kind of crazy spending spree happening and big names coming in when we were going into it 18.7 over the cap and had 24 players to re-sign or replace.
  16. According to Spotrac - he has a $300,000 roster bonus due on 3/17. They could save $2.5 million by releasing him. So I'd imagine if he isn't released today, he'll probably be here. Gotta imagine that's what he means by "clock is ticking". https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/isaiah-mckenzie-21914/
  17. According to Spotrac, we're currently at 11.5 under WITHOUT the numbers for Jordan Poyer and Kyle Allen. So right now, we may have close to nothing left. If the figure of 7 is correct for Poyer and we can estimate Allen at around a million, we're probably about 3.5 under right now. If we want to sign anyone else, we're going to have to clear up some more space. We can save 2.5 today if we release Isaiah McKenzie before a 300k roster bonus comes in for him tomorrow. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/
  18. Be poster 2, not poster 1. Everyone got unreal expectations when they saw us come up with 45.3 in cap. But they neglected to factor in we were 18.7 over the cap to begin with and more importantly - we had *24* Free Agents. Even if we let most of them walk, we'd still need to replace those bodies. This always meant that by and large, we'd have to look for diamonds in the rough. Players that the scouting department identified as having untapped potential and room for growth. With McGovern, Harty, and possibly Parham - you can see the potential. And if they're able to reach that potential, the "overpays" will become "bargains".
  19. At this point with the guys who have been signed and what they've been signed for - i'd be shocked if Singletary wasn't brought back. Only way I see that happening is if he didn't want to come back. He's absolutely adored in the locker room and with the emphasis the decision makers place on team chemistry I'd bet they prefer getting him back over other options.
  20. Ah, I see. Sorry, when you Google him they list 2021 after 2022 on the stats for some reason and his Wikipedia doesn't list 2022 stats at all. Either way, it appears he went on IR after those couple games so his 2022 campaign was a wash. 2021 was his last actual season. And in that year: The idea here is to invest in a player they see can become a star. And if that happens, the "overpay" will become a "bargain". If it doesn't, then you took a chance and didn't completely break the bank.
  21. 36 of them came just last season for 570 yards. What does this and the money say to me? That he was given an opportunity last season to show what he could do as a speedster deep threat. And obviously, given what he was paid - teams around the league saw something there that could potentially be taken to the next level given more opportunities. We all get caught up with big names and big production. But teams are always looking at young players who have shown things that can be translated and expanded upon. In Harty and McGovern, I feel Beane has targeted a couple young players that have shown big time promise and have the potential for growth early. The talk of "overpaying" to me speaks more to the interest other teams around the league had for the players and seeing the same things.
  22. We can't afford Orlando Brown. Although we saved 45.3 million on the cap, we started at 18.7 million over the cap according to Spotrac. And then we agreed to terms with Connor McGovern, re-signed Sam Martin, Tyrel Dodson, Ike Boettger, Tyler Matakevitch, Cam Lewis, and tendered Dane Jackson. We're sitting at roughly 15-17 million under the cap right now. Orlando Brown's predicted value is 22.4 million annually. Which is pretty on par since Mike McGlinchey just signed just signed for 17.5 annually. We have many holes still to fill having 24 FA's that either need re-signing or replacing. Not to mention needing space to sign our draft picks. The 15-17 we have probably won't be enough to even cover that. We absolutely couldn't put it all into one player. Even if we COULD afford Orlando Brown - him playing Guard is a pipe dream. He's one of the top (maybe the top) Left Tackle's in football. He's not going to a team to play Guard and he's not going to be paid what he commands to play Guard. Not to mention, we're not going to pay Dion Dawkins what we're paying Dion Dawkins to play Right Tackle. Long story short, Orlando Brown isn't even a thought.
  23. I don't think he included Tyrel Dodson in that figure. I think it's probably closer to 17.
  24. So 32 million for Von and Josh. 6 million from Milano. 5.4 from Diggs. 1.3 from Hines. 600k from Settle. That's 45.3 saved so far. Last night, it was figured they were at roughly 15 under after the signings they did yesterday and how much over the cap we were to begin with. Diggs restructure would take it up to 20.4 under. But then you have to figure in the signings of Tyrel Dodson (I don't know the figure for him) and the tendering of Dane Jackson (2.7 million). So I don't think the figure of being 22 million under right now being thrown around is correct. Probably closer to 17. Hopefully Tre and Dion do some restructuring as well. They were the first players I thought of as potential candidates for this. Surprised to see neither done yet.
