  1. To the people hoping for an Ed Oliver trade - I think it's FAR more likely that he'd be extended for cap space than it is he'd be traded for cap space. Especially after Beane mentioned him as a player he'd like to keep beyond his rookie contract unsolicited while talking about Edmunds departure.
  2. That wouldn't happen this season. He has a 23 million dollar dead cap hit if we do it this year. The potential is there to get out next year though. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/tredavious-white-21768/
  3. It's a gamble. That's why he's not getting anywhere near what he's worth. But it's worth the gamble. Pay $7 million plus off the cap bonuses, you could get a $20 million dollar WR. Or maybe his knee won't hold up. But if it doesn't, you're not out that $20 million. If Allen Lazard is worth 43.6 million over 4 years with 22 guaranteed at signing - i'd happily take the risk on a less than sure thing OBJ for 7.
  4. Well, yeah, if we sign OBJ after signing Harty - we wouldn't go WR Round 1. Probably wouldn't take one before Round 3.
  5. If the market says $4 right now - that's ridiculous. Offer him $7 with a voidable 2nd year that you can use to give him a bigger signing bonus and see if that works. That's still far cheaper than lesser WR's on the market and with his skill, it's worth the risk.
  6. I mean - it's cool to say you'd have preferred Isaac over Connor. But after we signed Connor, this was never going to happen. I can understand wishing for more. But once a move is made, it's made. They aren't going to say "the fans think we should have done more, let's go out and try again" after they've identified the player and spent the money.
  7. Connor McGovern already said in his Presser that he was brought in to play LG.
  8. It would have to be an incentive deal. But that causes it's own problems. Because if most of his money can be had in incentives and he's not getting the ball as much as he'd like, that's going to cost him money, and best believe he'd make an issue out of that. It would make his "give me the damn ball" attitude, if you will, even worse. That being said... i'd still do it.
  9. It's not about the taxes. I'm referring to if Beane made him an offer and then he turned around to Twitter to publicly say his offer is garbage: If you're already wary of him being a possible distraction (which I have to assume he'd be) - him saying "they wanna try mouton but pay box wine price for it" after simply making an offer could be cause for concern as to what he could say during the season.
  10. I think if it's just a matter of DB's and Neal saves that on the cap - it's a no brainer. We're loaded at Corner with the return of Dane to the point where we could move Benford to Safety, where we already have Poyer returning and now sounding like Hamlin as well. The problem is he's a core Special Teamer as well. And though we brought back Matakevitch and Dodson, Kumerow and Taiwan haven't been brought back. So releasing Neal would cut into the Teams even more. It's an interesting dilemma.
  11. He tweeted about taxes on an offer less than he'd like. Have to assume that's Buffalo, NYG, or NYJ. If it's Buffalo, I doubt Beane liked that. Either way, I'm guessing he's going to have to settle for a low base, high incentive contract. And it's going to take him some time to come to grips with that just being the way it is.
  12. Oh so we're playing Madden now? I mean, why stop there? Add Dalton Risner, Bobby Wagner, and Frank Clark while you're at it. With their contracts, I don't know how we could do DeAndre Hopkins period. Hopkins AND Henry is totally unrealistic.
  13. Beane seems to have more faith in Spencer Brown than you and many of the fans on this board do. He consistently defends him by saying that his having back surgery and missing all of the Offseason while being knicked up through the season was the root of his problems. I'm sure he'll bring in another Tackle in FA or the mid rounds of the Draft to be competition for Brown and at least be our swing Tackle off the bench to replace David Quessenberry. But he's not going out and signing some big name guy to a big contract to be an outright replacement. And Slot WR? If you'd have said a 3rd and 4th Outside WR, I'd agree. But Khalil Shakir showed to be our best Slot WR last season in limited action and is due for more reps. Deonte Harty also plays Slot. We have no need for another Slot WR. That's why McKenzie was released after we signed Harty to replace him. Slot is covered. We need more guys who can play on the boundary. We can't be in a situation like we were last year where if Diggs or Davis is banged up, we put out Jake Kumerow.
  14. It's a link to Fournette's post where he says "The realest in this sh-t.... Ask about me see y'all real soon" Most likely just Diggs promoting a friend.
  15. No need to cut him. He's a Free Agent and I don't see them jumping through hoops to re-sign him. And for good reason. They preferred putting converted CB Cam Lewis in his place. Is he Poyer or Hyde? No. But to say he's not very good isn't fair. For a 2nd year Safety who barely saw the field and was getting his first real action, he was doing a good enough job to be 2nd on the team in tackles and the team was 10-3 with him playing 100% of the snaps. You can do a LOT worse than him at Backup Safety, as we saw with guys like Jaquan Johnson, Cam Lewis, and Dean Marlowe. And he has room to grow into a better player than he already is.
  16. Agreed. Everyone on this board wants to write off Gabe Davis and Ed Oliver but Brandon Beane sounds like both are in his plans for years to come. And honestly - they should be. In today's NFL you need 3 solid outside WR's to compete at the top, not just 2. I'm agreeable to the fact that we need another outside weapon. But that's to compliment Diggs and Davis, offer rotation, and depth. Not to supplant Gabe completely.
  17. Beane could finagle the cap from a point of almost 20 million over and cover all 24 Free Agents we had with bodies... but it won't be "successful" around here unless he acquires a big name player that everyone has heard of 🙄
  18. The move would have to be Ed Oliver + a pick no lower than Round 2 and probably us taking on the difference of Ed Oliver's contract v. Jerry Jeudy's so that both teams cap situation stays the exact same. BUT I know fans are all ready to move on from Ed Oliver. But if you listened to Beane's presser yesterday, he specifically mentioned Ed and Gabe as guys he would like to keep for years to come beyond their Rookie contracts. So I don't know that he's on the same page. Plus, we'd have to find a replacement for Ed on the Defensive Line. Can't go into the year with Daquan Jones and Tim Settle as our starters and nothing behind them.
  19. I wouldn't call them locks, but if you listen to Beane, it doesn't sound like he's in a rush to flat out replace them. Nor is either so bad (Brown especially not having an offseason and coming off surgery) that they should immediately be demoted. Competition, sure. Get some guys in here via the Draft or inexpensive talented up and comers with potential that could push them and maybe beat them out. But Seumalo is a high priced star that would immediately replace Bates and if that were the plan, to me they'd have done that first and wouldn't have paid McGovern what they paid him. Our cap situation isn't in a place to sign one Guard to a 10+ million dollar deal now.
  20. Well, again, if Harty or Shakir doesn't hold up in Training Camp or the regular season and McKenzie's still out there, maybe that's something we'd look into. But at the moment, there is no spot for him on the roster. That's why he was released. It wasn't that 2.5 million was just too much money for him. He's been replaced.
  21. Yeah, except Tre had a full AC tear and reconstruction. And at no point did Beane say he expected to have him most of the year.
  22. Like others have said, he's going to cost more money than we can afford. If Seumalo was in play for us, we'd have not signed McGovern. McGovern and Bates are our Guards. Maybe they bring in another Guard that could compete with Bates and be depth. Or Draft one within the first few Rounds. But they aren't going to bring in someone who has a market value of 12.1 per year at this point. That would have been our first move if it were to happen.
  23. I think unless there's an injury to Deonte Harty or Khalil Shakir before the season or during it, it wouldn't make sense. You don't need 3 slot WR's on the team.
