  1. Damn. I was just talking to my Dad about RB options and was saying that Harris would work but he was probably the most expensive RB on the market to acquire. Spotrac listed his market value at 7.1 annually. Will be interested to see what we got him for. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/damien-harris-29123/market-value/
  2. From Beane's end of the season presser: "Yeah, I think Von's in a good spot. I think he's doing well. I expect him ... I'm going to say the same thing. I expect him for a good portion of 2023; I'm not ruling out all of 2023, but I don't want to say that either. I think it's too early. I was asking Nate Breske (Bills trainer), he's seven weeks, it's crazy how time flies, but that was seven weeks ago when he had that surgery."
  3. Either Beane really wanted to go in another direction or Motor really wanted out of Buffalo. I was pretty convinced Beane was playing the waiting game with Singletary and was going to bring him back on a team friendly deal. But if he signed elsewhere for that, that means someone wasn't interested in a return.
  4. They'll have one more at least. They always carry 6 and they've carried 7 at times.
  5. Thank you! I keep seeing people saying we don't have him next season and comparing him to Tre. But it's two separate things. One was a complete tear and complete reconstruction. One was a partial tear and repair. Beane himself has said he expects to have Von for most of the season. Something he never said about Tre.
  6. These are the "cap doesn't exist" people. They think every year an infinite amount of money can be found anytime we want to without consequence. The cap can be finessed. But it's a real thing. And eventually the bill comes due. We're seeing it right now by being 18+ over this year and it's the same thing next season.
  7. Personally, I don't. Not yet at least. But to spend a 3rd on a guy and then immediately make him a career backup by drafting someone in the 1st after 1 year of barely being worked in the system doesn't really add up to me. My guess is they bring in a vet for a year for Bernard to learn from him and see if he can grow into the role in Year 3. And/or take another Day 2 MLB and have them compete with Bernard. But I'd be surprised to see them just plug and play a 1st Round Rookie after spending a 3rd last year on Bernard.
  8. Restructure what? He's only got this year and next year left on his deal. And his cap hit next season is 27 million. There's no way to restructure his deal or extend a player the caliber of Nuke without paying a fortune. I don't see us doing that and giving up compensation. Especially given our cap situation this year, the amount of holes we still have to fill, and our cap situation next year (again 18+ plus over the cap). And doing so would be giving up on extending Gabe after this season, which Beane doesn't sound like he wants to do, if his last presser was any indication. Way more likely we gamble on OBJ for a year, trade for someone more manageable like Jeudy for a year or two, and/or Draft someone. Even if we could, there's no way we'd pay Diggs what we're paying him and then pay for Nuke. Any way you slice it, Hopkins is a Madden like pipedream for this season.
  9. Hopkins would require way too much money as well as Draft compensation. He has a 31 million dollar cap hit this season.
  10. I love how someone not completely living up to their lofty expectations coming out of College and someone being picked below them performing better automatically equates to being "jag". Tremaine Edmunds all over again. And he just got handed the best deal for an ILB in the NFL. We take players for granted and the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Before Miller and Phillips went down, Oliver was performing quite well consistently. After Von's injury, teams focused blocking on him a lot more while singling Rousseau and Lawson/Epenesa. He was AFC Defensive Players of the Week for his performance in the Thanksgiving game. Beane has been talking up wanting to extend him. But yeah, he's "jag" 🙄
  11. It appears he was most likely referring to the Giants offer when he mentioned $4 million. Appears they are probably out. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2023-nfl-free-agency-odell-beckham-out-of-giants-price-range-ending-new-york-reunion-per-report/
  12. His estimated market value is 12.2 per. Might be a little lower - but I don't see it going that much lower. We're paying Connor McGovern 7.5 annually ourselves. Ben Powers got 12.9 annually. No way Seumalo only gets 8.
  13. To the people hoping for an Ed Oliver trade - I think it's FAR more likely that he'd be extended for cap space than it is he'd be traded for cap space. Especially after Beane mentioned him as a player he'd like to keep beyond his rookie contract unsolicited while talking about Edmunds departure.
  14. That wouldn't happen this season. He has a 23 million dollar dead cap hit if we do it this year. The potential is there to get out next year though. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/tredavious-white-21768/
  15. It's a gamble. That's why he's not getting anywhere near what he's worth. But it's worth the gamble. Pay $7 million plus off the cap bonuses, you could get a $20 million dollar WR. Or maybe his knee won't hold up. But if it doesn't, you're not out that $20 million. If Allen Lazard is worth 43.6 million over 4 years with 22 guaranteed at signing - i'd happily take the risk on a less than sure thing OBJ for 7.
  16. Well, yeah, if we sign OBJ after signing Harty - we wouldn't go WR Round 1. Probably wouldn't take one before Round 3.
  17. If the market says $4 right now - that's ridiculous. Offer him $7 with a voidable 2nd year that you can use to give him a bigger signing bonus and see if that works. That's still far cheaper than lesser WR's on the market and with his skill, it's worth the risk.
  18. I mean - it's cool to say you'd have preferred Isaac over Connor. But after we signed Connor, this was never going to happen. I can understand wishing for more. But once a move is made, it's made. They aren't going to say "the fans think we should have done more, let's go out and try again" after they've identified the player and spent the money.
  19. Connor McGovern already said in his Presser that he was brought in to play LG.
  20. It would have to be an incentive deal. But that causes it's own problems. Because if most of his money can be had in incentives and he's not getting the ball as much as he'd like, that's going to cost him money, and best believe he'd make an issue out of that. It would make his "give me the damn ball" attitude, if you will, even worse. That being said... i'd still do it.
  21. It's not about the taxes. I'm referring to if Beane made him an offer and then he turned around to Twitter to publicly say his offer is garbage: If you're already wary of him being a possible distraction (which I have to assume he'd be) - him saying "they wanna try mouton but pay box wine price for it" after simply making an offer could be cause for concern as to what he could say during the season.
  22. I think if it's just a matter of DB's and Neal saves that on the cap - it's a no brainer. We're loaded at Corner with the return of Dane to the point where we could move Benford to Safety, where we already have Poyer returning and now sounding like Hamlin as well. The problem is he's a core Special Teamer as well. And though we brought back Matakevitch and Dodson, Kumerow and Taiwan haven't been brought back. So releasing Neal would cut into the Teams even more. It's an interesting dilemma.
  23. He tweeted about taxes on an offer less than he'd like. Have to assume that's Buffalo, NYG, or NYJ. If it's Buffalo, I doubt Beane liked that. Either way, I'm guessing he's going to have to settle for a low base, high incentive contract. And it's going to take him some time to come to grips with that just being the way it is.
