Hypothetical Mock, Who would u select @ #9

Dillard. Move Dawkins to G..finish the job. -
What I always remembered...no idea why I did, but I remember Townsend calling them the Rolling Bones. And he did, as he was dedicating the next song to them (Long Live Rock). to this day, I don't know why that stuck in my head. As to the file sharing thing...pfft...its really just downloading a file. Its on a music message board, the guy provided a link, it takes you to a download button.
-
It sounds like it was Daltrey..but tough for me to say. For me, it was verification that it happened and wasn't just some alcohol induced foggy memory I had. I listened to some of it last night, as I remembered, they were good that day. It brought back some cool youthful memories. As I said, if you want it, I'll provide the link to the download. But unless you want to by the file sharing service, it takes forever to download the concert. about 750 mb at dial up speed. Something to start before bed and let it go on its own.
-
Someone sent me a link to a recording of the concert a few days ago. The sound quality is pretty bad, or maybe its just the crappy earbuds I have. Its still pretty cool to have. After Love Reign O'er Me, you can definitely hear the "Not even the Stones could have pulled that one" line....so I wasn't imagining it. I'd post the link, but I dunno if there's a copyright thingy and I don't want to open the site to any trouble from the Half-A-Who members still around. Anyone wants the link, PM me I guess?

Q. Williams to Bills in CBS Mock Draft
CookieG replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'd play guard. He's one of the better interior OL in the draft. -
I like the trade down, especially getting the extra 2nd. But trading down and then passing on Dillard, is something we will probably regret. Howard is pretty raw and I get that you're looking to the future, but I don't think he's quite the athlete some think he is. His shuttle and 3 cone the 2 things I think are important for an OL..were really pretty slow. Dillard is more polished AND has better tools. I think with Howard, you stand a good chance of looking again in 2 years, after he doesn't pan out. With Dillard, you have a better chance of a quality pass blocker, move Dawkins to the inside and you've improved 2 positions with one pick. I'd reverse the 1st and third picks. Dillard instead of Hockenson with the 1st pick. With the 46th pick, take Jace Sternberger out of A and M. He's not the blocker that Hockenson is, but as a receiver, if he's not his equal, he's pretty close. I'd be OK with Tillery as a DT, he came on last year.

Chris Simms Draft top 5 RB Rankings - VIDEO

Thurmanator II, Justice Day. Shoulder chip sold separately. -
That looks a lot better to you than to me. An LT that gave up 8 sacks, a LG that was average at best, and below average at worst, a RG who was cut one year into a 4 year contract and a 33 year old career back up. You asked who the T that would be a fit at 9? Andre Dillard, from Washington St. Excellent feet and the best pass blocking T in the draft. (PS, Zeirlein has him going to us in his latest mock). Think of Ryan Clady or Joe Staley type LT. This is really a good year not just "fix" a terrible OL, but actually make it....gasp....quality. In the second, there is a possibility Chris Lindstrom from BC who showed his quality in the Senior Bowl. If not, C Elgton Jenkins from MIss. State is a really good choice to move to RG. Strong and smart. Dillard/Dawkins/Morse/Lindstrom or Jenkins/Nseke With the exception of RT, that is a talented and young OL. They could stay together for years. Allen will be happier; the speed WR's, who need time for their deep routes, would be happier. Shady will be happier The offense will be happier. Watching the Bills get into the endzone more than once or twice a game will be happier. Its wins all the way around.

He only played a half game in 2018. PFF had a 77.2 grade in 2017 and a 3 year average of 75. He was 2nd team all pro in 2017.

CB Kevin Johnson (Texans) to the Bills
CookieG replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He played in 6 games that year. More concerning, he was placed in IR last year after week 1 last year for multiple concussions. You don't often see that. Signing a guy who has started 8 games in the past three years is kinda, meh. But if its one of those 2 million a year deals..no big deal. -

Nope, just a long suffering fan who watches other team's flourish as my team gets put into yet another 5 year "rebuilding" plan. But then those who believe those playoff teams are doing it wrong, while we're doing it right, are far smarter than me. It reminds me of the people who would say I was stupid and would regret not getting involved in the Ponzi scheme they were hawking. -

Well, that's a positive spin without simply regurgitating the company line, so I like it. I think there are a few ways to look at it. I am now, and have been, a firm believer that he should have brought in an offensive guru in the scouting/gm area to engineer the rebuild on this side of the ball. It might be nice that he's willing to throw around a bit of money, but its going to take more than that. -

There aren't enough Brandon Beane talking points in this post. Its close, but a few more can be added. Now, as far as this "long term sustained success" goes, I'm not sure how trying to trade for a 31 year old wr, and using 20-25% of the available cap space on him is geared toward long term sustained success. The aborted move pretty much goes against everything these two have preached since they got here. And...it is was type of move that the much hated prior regimes had done. But THIS time it would have been different, because those regimes sucked, and these guys are smart! Antonio Brown saved Beane from himself by saying he'd refuse to report. Let's hope Beane learned something from the experience. He has so much learning to do, and so little time to learn it. -
TDN Mock Draft Machine; My mock draft
CookieG replied to STL-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did a sim or 2 where Metcalf falls to 9. He's probably worth the risk, but I wasn't liking who was available in rounds after him. This one, I liked playing more in "safe mode". It is WR heavy, but I didn't expect the 2 WR's at the bottom to be there..and they won't. Even if they aren't there, I love what I did with the OL and still got an excellent WR in the 2nd. 9 Jawaan Taylor , OT Florida - the more I saw and heard of him, I liked. Might have surpassed Jonah Williams as the best all around OT in the draft. 40 A.J. Brown, WR Mississippi - thrilled he fell to 40. Put him in the slot and say, "hello Mr. Undersized Nickel CB, go ahead, tackle this guy." 74 Bobby Evans OT Oklahoma - a very good OT on the right and left side at Oklahoma. he gets moved inside to guard. 112 Trayveon Williams RB Texas A&M - a little guy who can hide behind a new OL and sneak through holes. And you love the passion he plays with. 131 Chuma Edoga OT USC - Not talked about as much and I didn't watch him much before the Senior Bowl, but he was named the SB Outstanding Player of the Week. He moves his feet extremely well to mirror and his arms are long enough for necessary leverage. He might not be a finished product, but he's going to be good. 147 Cody Thompson WR Toledo - the mid round sleeper pick. The only weak point of the Combine was his 40 time, which isn't horrible. The rest of his numbers were very good to excellent. I liked what I saw watching him, he breaks tackles after the catch effortlessly, and always seems to know where he's going as soon as the ball in his hands. Averaged over 20 ypc in his soph and junior years. 158 Jalen Jelks EDGE Oregon - eh, idk...not a fan of this pick but maybe he'll become something. 181 Parris Campbell WR Ohio State - a sprint to the podium moment. He shouldn't have been there, he won't be there, but he was. 225 Miles Boykin WR Notre Dame - see above. At this point you can only say, "this stockpiling of late round picks is really paying off!!!" 228 Ben Banogu EDGE TCU - a 4.6 40, a 40 inch vertical, a 7 flat cone drill an 11 foot broad jump and 23 reps. He needs work, but a really nice slab of marble to work with. His production at TCU is a bit downplayed. Averaged 8.5 sacks and around 17 or so TFL's over the past 2 years. TCU alum Jerry Hughes can make him his protege and teach him how to rush the passer in the NFL. -
How can we not be all in on Metcalf now?
CookieG replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And there is that... Since the OP brought up a Julio Jones comparison, Julio's 3 cone time was about 3/4 of a second better. there's a lot more bake to Metcalf than there is shake (to those who actually remember Shake and Bake). Not to say that he can't become a dominant receiver, but I agree, it isn't a certainty. -
That's not much of an endorsement, considering in Lawson's best year, he had 6 sacks. I think Sweat will be better, he looks stronger. You can see the pop he has in some of his hits on an OT. He's got a long body and has the ability to add some bulk. But....idk, he was beating people in the Senior Bowl practices (except Dillard), but when he was going against the better OT's of the North, he didn't do much. He knifed through on a few running plays, but was pretty invisible on pass plays. Beating up on lesser competition is one thing, but facing quality OL on a regular basis is another. I just don't see him as a "can't miss" guy and not as a "we'd be crazy to pass on this guy".

Blessed are the meek in offense, for they shall receive high draft picks; Blessed are the poor in blocking men, for they have refrained from being bullies; Blessed are those who score few points, for they shall be known as also-rans. The "Four score and seven years ago, we were a contender" speech comes around training camp.

What's your 2019 projected offensive line
CookieG replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh I agree with most of what you're saying. But you're saying what he should do, my post relates to what I think he'll do. I mean, damn...the guy lost his 3 best Olinemen and waited until the bottom of the 5th to draft one? Who tells asks his only PB OL, on the last year of a very reasonable deal, to take a pay cut? Who the hell trades his LT ? I really believe he honestly thought he could "get by" with the low rent free agents he brought in...plus Mills and Ducasse. He wasn't forced to have the lowest paid OL in the NFL. People can talk about "cap hell" all they want, but he found the $8 million for a part time DE and another $8 million for KB? It just...wasn't a priority with him. Some are like that. Has he learned from this? IDK, we'll see soon enough. As I said, I really hope I'm wrong. But I'll believe it when I see it? -
What's your 2019 projected offensive line
CookieG replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will say I'm impressed with the optimism in this thread and I'd be happy with many of those scenarios. But call me a cynic, or just grumpy, I'm not expecting Beane to lay out the money many of these guys are commanding. (Except Williams and the Carolina Pipeline). Note sure he'll pay $12 million a year as Paradis might command or $10 million a year that Morse might collect. For that amount of money, I can see him saying...nah, we'll stick with Bodine. I'm really expecting more signings like Long..and I don't say that in a positive manner. I really hope I'm wrong. -
USA Today's 4-Round Mock - I'd be Thrilled
CookieG replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Normally, I'd agree, especially with the state of their OL and the history of this team's OL woes. But I'm looking at what they are getting. Dillard could be the best pass blocking LT to come out this year. I was very impressed with him at the Senior Bowl. Great feet, great movement. Bradbury is the best C and maybe the best interior lineman in the draft. Very athletic with underrated strength. I don't think either of these guys gave up a sack this year. Both a supposedly very smart. If...and its an if...they say, get Williams from Carolina and he's healthy..the new OL Dawkins gets move to G and the new OL looks like this: LT HIllard LG Dawkins C Bradbury RG - X RT Williams That's a really good, young base for a new OL. No more scrap heap guys on their 3rd or 4th team, no more late round rookies who are being counted on to play like a first rounder. You've probably just bought Allen an extra second or 2 on a typical pass play. Metcalf is almost a bonus...and a guy with the potential to be a franchise WR is a pretty good bonus. On the downside...neither guy may be there in the 2nd. There a really good chance at a run on OL in the mid-late 2st and top of the second. These guys, plus Williams, Risner, Cody Ford, Taylor, Lindstrom and David Edwards could be gone. So I think you're right to an extent. I'm just looking at this for what it is, a mock draft where they are available. I'd take it in a second. I don't know if "those days are behind us" because outside of drafting Allen, they haven't done much on the offensive side of the ball. A lot of missteps at WR, an OL that's been neglected over 2 years and actually made worse. They most definitely have something to prove on offense before anyone can say they are different than past regimes.
