  1. Lawson and Hughes seem to be great additions as well. Hughes needs to chill out with this snap count timing, he hurt us badly twice jumping offsides, but these two guys can play ball. Great pickups for our squad
  2. Definitely missed Levitre in game one. I watched him carefully the last few years because I had a nice experience with him and my son at training camp a few years ago (raining, he stood there and talked to us for awhile and signed some stuff, very cool. So was Leodis) Colin got handled by an all pro in Wolfork, which is understandable. Big Vince pushed him into running lanes quite a bit and played lower and stronger. I still think we should have signed Levitre, it would have been nice to have Glenn Levitre and Wood together again this year. He's a durable, athletic team player and a mauler out there. Marrone has really downplayed continuity though, saying it's overrated. Maybe he's right, because our pass protection was pretty good yesterday, better than I expected anyway
  3. Nahhh we can't. Her name is Phyllis and we franchise tagged her this year so we need to keep her. She's getting the average hourly wage of the top 5 merchandise ordering ladies in the league, which is damn year $15 an hour. If she gets injured on the job she still gets paid too. FIRE PHYLLIS NEXT YEAR FOR SURE
  4. No idea what hackett was thinking. He needs to watch film of last year again. We had a great System for getting CJ in space. (Screens, delays, pitches, sweeps etc). They will adjust and beat carolina next week.
  5. Are you kidding? A rookie QB in his first NFL start and you weren't impressed with him? Go back and look at rookie QB first game stats. Check Peyton, Favre, Aikman, Brees, Russel Wilson etc. The kid showed poise, pocket presence, elusiveness and patience. what in the world were you hoping to see that you didn't?
  6. Yeah I thought he played well too. Great goal line stop and then recovered the fumble on the goal line. So proud of our defense. We gave the Patriots the ball twice on turnovers inside the 20 and we were still in the game til the end. And Hey Marcel way to punch Brady in the chops and get away with it. You rule buddy.
  7. I am not saying this was Stevie's fault but when we got the ball with 5:40 left in the game, we were up by one point. One decent drive away from winning the game. First call is CJ off tackle, two yards. Now it's 2nd and long, and Hackett calls a pass play to Stevie's side. This is the biggest play of the freaking game at this point, and there is a miscommunication between EJ and Stevie. Stevie cuts the route short and EJ thinks he is going long. Reminds me of last year when Fitz and Stevie kept screwing up communication and blowing routes. Fitz was too classy to do anything but take the blame himself, but I doubt Harvard boy was forgetting the play. If you remember it happened a lot last year, in one game I remember like 4 or 5 miscom's between Stevie and Fitz. Somebody made that same mistake again today, at a critical juncture in the game and if I was a betting man I would say it was #13. Maybe it was the rookie qb. That was a HUGE mistake, whoever made it, because EJ was hot and throwing well at that point.
  8. I like the fact that we came out with 5 straight run calls on offense to start the second half. Trying to understand why CJ wasn't given more screens, slants, pitches etc. (space plays. he needs space) Hackett would do well to go back and watch Chan's screen game more carefully, he was great at drawing them up and getting CJ in the best position to use his wheels.
  9. Our d back situation is dire without Gilmore and Byrd rusty at best. Brady is gonna shred us guys. They wont run much because they won't need to. Their Wr's will be open all day. I think they score 40. I just want EJ to have a few nice drives and I'm happy. Show some poise and stay healthy. Get some pass protection, go through his reads, call a few audibles, convert some 3rd downs, get in the endzone once or twice. Win loss means far less to me than most, i just wanna see EJ start his great career. Pats defense hasn't been very good at all for many years. Bill is an average D coach at best.
  10. very few of those little speed wideouts in this league that can make a difference. they dominate in college but then find themselves up against NFL dbacks that can run with them and are taller and stronger and better at jump balls/body positioning. remember our top 3 wideouts are SJ Woods and TJ, and the last two can fly. if Goodwin beats out TJ as the season goes on, which I think will happen, then he might get 4 or 5 targets per game as the 3rd guy. as it stands now he won't get more than a few targets per game. if you're playing in a points per reception league he's not your guy.
  11. Biscuit you're always on the money. We are running a fast paced offense with a rookie qb, and that is going to put a tremendous amount of pressure on our defense this year. It was already evident in the preseason, and will become more so in the weeks ahead. There will be quite a few three and outs this season as EJ goes through his growing pains, and with the no huddle attack a three-and-out can happen inside of a minute. This gives the defense very little time to rest and I'm sure is a huge area of concern for Marrone. If our defense is getting pounded in the run game and gives up a long drive, then is asked to go back out 4 minutes later and try to stop the same thing from happening again, we're in for a long season. Punts and kick coverage need to be top notch as well. The key will be defense. Our offense can hit a few home runs with CJ and the long ball, but our D is the key.
  12. This year is going to tell all. Dareus has no excuses. Healthy, playing for a proven DC with two other pro bowlers on his line in Kyle and Mario. His play this year will determine the future of his contract option. He's looked good in pre season. Hard not to root for big 99, he's such a beast when he's on his game.
  13. Wow. great post Gordio. You sound like a real fun guy.
  14. Ok now lets get a laser system on the sidelines for measuring first downs instead of this stupid "hey lets tie a chain between two posts and have guys run out into the middle of the field to measure something that a sideline laser can do more accurately in one second" Every time they stop a game and make millions (sometimes hundreds of millions) of people wait for this medieval measurement technique I laugh my ass off at how stupid it is. And while I'm solving problems there should be an infrared one at each goal line that is constantly on. If the refs are unsure if the ball crossed the plane they can simply check the monitor and see if the ball was lit up. Sometimes it wont be possible to see because of bodies in the way (in which case we use the current replay guessing game) but it would certainly help give certain proof in many situations. Now if could only develop a qb robot..............
  15. Chandler can save the day sunday for EJ. The second read for a rookie qb has to be big and sure handed and open. We are gonna need him big time.
  16. Its true that a lot of Patriot fans are fair weather types, but honestly after such a long playoff drought I look at my kids sometimes wearing their Bills stuff to school and wonder if I shouldn't have raised them to be Steelers fans or something. I explain that the odds are 1 in 32 for a team to win the championship every year, and the Rams once went from a 4-12 season to winning the superbowl next year so anything is possible. But they're starting to think I'm an idiot.
  17. I only went to one training camp this summer but he stood out as being clueless, apathetic and lazy. The exact opposite of what I was hoping to see. I don't think troublemaker or drug user is fair to say either, but the kid hung his head a lot and really was unimpressive.
  18. Drafting aside, I still think the worst move they've ever made was the Seymour deal with Oakland. Seymour had so much more pro bowl football in him and they gave it up over ego's and trying to outthink themselves. Complete stupidity, worse than the Pat Williams gaffe Donahoe made. New England is a joke without Brady, and I'm gonna live long enough to laugh at Kraft when they drop to the bottom of the division again.
  19. I was thinking the same thing about Marrone's pretty extensive O-line coaching and how its strange that he downplays continuity. Its the opposite of everything I've ever heard coaches or linemen say, but it makes me feel better about letting Levitre walk. It makes more sense to me now anyway because I couldn't understand how with a rookie QB you would let your only consistent O lineman (and a blindside one at that) walk away when you have plenty of money to keep him. We'll see if he's right on Sunday.
  20. Agreed. Lets face it people, most strong safeties can't cover very well. And I don't just mean lil Donte the pro bowl SS for San Francisco that cost them the superbowl with his coverage skills. If they are covering someone it's usually a big TE in which case you need them to have some height and reach. Aaron Williams has that type of body, and he hits hard in run support. He's our best bet in there with Byrd obviously at FS. We are going to need pass rush from Hughes and Mario in a big way, with Pettine dialing up some tricky blitzes or zone stuff to get at the QB. That's how you can partially make up for having weak corners. The rest is going to be ball control offense, which unfortunately is not Hacketts specialty.
  21. I think the decision isn't up to the doctors, that they'll clear him to play with a brace on and probably already have. Marrone needs to determine whether or not they can protect him from the NE pass rush. Our line isn't that good guys, and in a few spots it's looking downright weak. As much as I want to see EJ play, I think its too early for him considering he won't have taken many snaps at all leading up to the opener, he's a rookie, and his knee is probably still not 100 percent. It sucks but I think Tuel is going to be our starter week 1 and I'm coming to grips with it.
  22. I know he's looked a little slow this pre-season, but I'm telling you right now Freddy is going to be the key to this opening day win. Our line is still not great, and NE will bring pressure with 4, 5 and even 6 guys. Freddy will play as many downs as CJ because they'll stack the box (like anyone would play a rookie qb with a great backfield) and we'll need to have a solid pass protecting back that can stop the rush, pick up the blitz etc. Hackett will run some shovel passes, counters, screens and delays with big 22 hammering away and burning clock to keep Brady on the sidelines. Lets face it, we're outmatched offensively, so it works in our favor to slowly move the chains, not try to hit home run bombs. Freddy is as healthy as he's going to be all year, and we're gonna need him next sunday. I think he'll have as many yards as CJ.
  23. Webster Guy will be in the house. Gotta leave in the 3rd quarter w my gf to drive to Pittsburgh and see Muse (greatest live band in the last decade), but I'll be there for the first part when we punk the Patriots.
  24. Players always say they don't want to be somewhere when they get tagged. Just about everybody I know says "I don't want to be at work today" now and then. Hell I say it every day. Byrd will make more than enough money this year alone to set him up for life if he isn't stupid about it. Quit whining you kitty and play the game. If you get a career ending injury this year you can blame your agent Eugene for making you believe that you need $20M guaranteed money. We just let Levitre walk, and we let Marshawn go for nothing, we aren't going to trade our only proven healthy DB for somebody's average Joe.
  25. Settle down eballer. It wasn't a slam on Kolb, he was just pointing out that the dude is injury prone, which he is, and that TJax would have been a better guy to retain, which I'm guessing right now the Bills wished they had. I know I'd rather see him in a Bills uni over Leinart or anybody else that's available out there. The last season that TJax played he threw for 3000+ and did enough to show that he can be a decent backup in the NFL. Kolb definitely had a few sweet comebacks in his career but he's shown he's neither dependable nor consistent. I just hope he listens to his doctors and not his competitiveness and does what's best for his health. I still don't understand how we can't have thicker better helmets out there to protect these guys from concussions. The hit didn't look that bad to me.
