You think Spiller is fast?
Webster Guy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My favorite Bo Jackson memory was going to see him play baseball against the Cleveland Indians. He was on the White Sox at the time, with big Frank Thomas in his prime. So my brother Jeff and I go in the stadium early to catch batting practice, and we're right down next to the dugout watching Frank launch some impressive homers, and next up comes Bo Jackson. We sat there in awe as he crushed what seemed like every single pitch into line drives deep into left field, most of them homers. It was an unbelievable show of strength. In contrast to Frank Thomas' high floating long balls, Bo was just hammering these liners 350 feet and the ball never seemed to go any higher than maybe 40 feet. Even the players on the field doing warmups were just standing there in awe. Useless baseball fact du jour: Frank Thomas is the only player in major league history to have seven consecutive seasons of a .300 average and at least 100 walks, 100 runs, 100 runs batted in, and 20 home runs. And the dude hit over 500 homers with no juicing. Married a girl from Pittsford. Yeah I know it's a football thread, sorry boys -
Pats: Bad winners, even worse losers
Webster Guy replied to Overseas Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brady has made 5 head coaches in this league. Crennel, Belichick, Mangini, McDaniel and Weiss, all losing NFL head coaches without Tom on their team, all fired from their first head coaching jobs in the NFL. With Brady on their team they get called genius. Hilarious. As much as I hate the guy, it's amazing how one lucky pick can transform not just a team but the landscape of the whole freaking league. In other news, Ray Lewis looks SO slow out there, I felt bad for the guy, he's got nothing left in the tank. -
Less than half the teams in the NFL had a 1000 yard receiver last year. Stevie has three 1000 plus yard seasons in a row and some people think he's "not a true" #1. Joke. Where did that term even come from? We run a spread offense. Teams play us in nickel the entire game (three corners plus the safeties) NE was even playing dime against us half the time (four corners, like a 4-1-6). When you get that deep into another teams cornerbacks, there is usually a rookie cb (or someone injured maybe) that the QB will target as his first read. On our team the ball would often go to that guy or be a checkdown throw to the backs. It's an opportunistic offense designed to create seams in coverage and take advantage of mismatches. If you can get 1000 yards on a team that runs such an offense, and has a good pass catching TE like we do and runs as many screens as we do, you're a stud receiver. And if you can get more TD catches than the best receiver of all time, in his prime (Megatron), or Reggie Wayne, or Andre Johnson that doesn't hurt either. But he's just a number two guy so.......

I think TJ isn't going to be a good NFL receiver. He has the speed, but watching him on the deep throws he is very poor with body positioning, awareness and ball skills. There were a few long balls this year that he should have had, or at least given himself a chance to catch, but he either slowed up or got into little hand control battles with the cover guys and never made a play on the ball. When Vince Young first hit him on that deep ball in preseason, I thought we finally have a guy that can actually get behind the safety over the middle of the field. The rest of the season was a disappointment. Maybe next year he will have enough film on himself and get coached up better and have a strong sophomore season, but I'm worried that he doesn't have the knack for the NFL.

Cant judge these players on one game. TeO was outstanding in college, he won a ridiculous amount of awards, had a pretty solid body of work and we happen to have the worst linebackers in the NFL. Shep is just awful, that was huge miss in a spot where we needed a homerun. I want us to take the BPA from the available pool of receivers, LB or QB for the first two days of the draft. Take all three positions, rank em up and take the best of the best. Its those college kids gettin in your head PTR. Go back out there and take one more shot at em, keeping in mind the New England Patriots model for winning. Get lucky and cheat. As the saying goes, Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

Hey look, we draft like SH+t anyway, so giving away draft picks for us isn't that big of a deal. Give the freakin Hawks what they want, cut Fitz, and bring this guy in. If he tanks we get a high pick the following year, if he does well, we win. He can't be worse than a rookie QB in this year's draft or Fitzy.

According to my calculations, the baby was conceived in April. This will trigger an important yet little-known escape clause that prohibits Fitz from having sex in the off season, when he should have been deep into his playbook instead of his wife. This means we can release him with no cap hit and move on. Nix is a genius. I KNEW somewhere behind that dumb southern exterior there wasn't just another country hick who signed a QB at the absolute peak of his modest hot streak. Why that would be like buying a stock after all the positive earnings were out for a few days.

If you could cherry pick any 2 NFL players.
Webster Guy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not true. Marv Levy said after the draft that they weren't going to take Willis anyway. I remember it vividly because I couldn't believe he said it and Willis was my favorite player in college the year before. Marv was pretty rough at talent evaluation -

Bruce Smith (okay so he hasn't played in 12 years and he's a slim 235 now, but I wanna chant Bruuuuuuuce just one more time) And for my number 2 I'll take the Honey Badger (we need some FUN players out there people) -
I think they're going to start fresh, even if it's a 2nd round rookie QB. Fitz is ok but not good enough, which means he'll win you enough games to drop your draft spot. I'd rather take a chance on someone new and if they fail and we suck then lets get in the top spot for a stud QB. Coaching means so much less than having a great QB. Our problem these past few years was never coaching. By the way, whoever you are NY33, you need to chill out and stop attacking people. I think the Tmaster's post was legitimate, and even if you disagree with someone's take, try a friendlier approach next time. This isn't the Jets board you know.......

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
Webster Guy replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is not a first round Quarterback but he has good mechanics, a strong, accurate arm, toughness and intelligence. He will go in the second round according to the guys who do this for a living. What do you see that makes him one of the worst prospects? -
[closed]What does "football analytics" mean?
Webster Guy posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've recently heard the phrase "football analytics" a lot in the past few days relating to NFL head coaches. I've ever heard this before. Russ Brandon has mentioned it in his interviews. Can anyone shed some light, please? -
Colts vs Ravens Game Thread

He's not a murderer, but he didn't cooperate with police trying to get to the bottom of a murder that he had some involvement with, and Ray took steps to destroy evidence the investigators wanted. That's the mark of a low-life thug to me. -
Yeah that label got attached to Poz too. Silly. He was just rated the team MVP for Jax. And Whitner made first team pro bowl, and there was Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, hell even Takeo Spikes is still productive in the middle. Not sure what the coaches didn't like in London. Just saw a thing on him where he has full authority to call all defensive plays on the field without approval from his DC.

Our team's problem is not the head coach. Bring in whoever you think the coach of the year is in the NFL, give them our personnel and they'll still lose 10 games. Until you get a stud QB you have no chance. Look what Indy did without a head coach this year.

What famous movie quote sums up our BUFFALO BILLS
Webster Guy replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frank: It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day. Jane: Goodyear? Frank: No, the worst. -
Peter king says Chan gone on Monday...
Webster Guy replied to OhIDunno's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry but I still think our problem is at QB, LB and WR. What coach in the league would have won more games with our personnel holes. how do you hide an inaccurate QB, only ONE decent LB and ONE decent receiver. Bring in whoever you want, the problem will stay until the guys on the field change -
The reality of coaching changes
Webster Guy replied to gobillsinytown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ever notice all the sought after offensive coordinators happen to be from teams with strong QB's ? Hmmmm what a coincidence. It's a joke how little coaching has to do with winning if you have a pro bowl QB. The great ones like Tom Brady can even make the defensive coordinator's look good because they're frequently playing with a lead and getting the other team off their gameplan. Look at some of the guys he's made look good : Charlie Weiss, Crennel, Belichick, Josh McDaniel, Eric Mangini. All fired head coaches in their careers with losing records outside of New England, but on a team with a stud QB they become geniuses. Frankly I don't care who our coach is. If I were the owner I would put all my efforts into getting a top notch QB. Find out why everybody in the NFL passed on Russel Wilson a few times last season, what did we miss in our scouting? What QB evaluation system do we have in place that steered us to pass on Andy Dalton or Kapernick when we need a qb? What will it take to sign Alex Smith or Flynn or get TJax a chance to show if he can do it. I think all the coaching worries and changes and rumors are meaningless. The Colts didn't even really have a HC coach this year and they were the worst team in the league last year, but they're in the playoffs. Find me a f%ckin QB. -
Is there a guaranteed stud NFL receiver this year? I don't watch enough college ball to know. I do know that they come around every few years, wondering if this is one of those years. I'm hoping that the Bills do a hybrid Best Available Player approach from 3 categories: LB, QB and WR. Would like to hear thoughts from you collegeball freaks.......

Draft Order Now highest is #4, lowest is #10
Webster Guy replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The excuse to win is people pay good money to watch their team play with their best guys and try to win and entertain the crowd. Football is for entertainment, and winning is better entertainment than losing. I hope they make it a fun game and lose at the end, because it could swing us significantly in a better position for drafting, but I understand that the players and coaches want to beat the Jets and Rex, who embarassed us in the opener. I would want to crush them too if I were a Bills player. They're the New Jersey Jets for god's sake, what's there to like about them -
I agree that he's definitely the most fun RB to watch (tied with AP) playing right now. CJ plays faster than Barry Sanders. The thing about Sanders I always admired were his jump cuts (both feet planted on the ground and a misdirectional hop) Collingsworth pointed out one of CJ's jump cuts this week, i think it was on his long run that he bounced out to the right. You have to have mad acceleration because you're literally stopping your forward progress to a dead stop and have to start running all over again. Martin from Tampa has a nice jump cut, and AP uses it all the time. The other thing Barry had was an unbelievable sense for when to use the spin move. He played low (like Emmit, Bettis, Marshawn) but he could spin like nobody else I've even seen. Both great players to watch. So far CJ has a better yards per carry average than Sanders, hopefully he keeps it up!

Gailey's Stubborness - "Fitz Gives Us Best Chance"
Webster Guy replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, but in terms of what is best for the team in the long run, I would rather have a higher draft pick and a "real bullets" evaluation of TJax preparing all week and starting against the Jets here at home. He led his team to the playoffs last year, had over 3000 yards passing, the Jets have no film on him as a Bill, and if he can't play lets find that out now and use the $3m next year to help keep Levitre and Byrd. Having Fitz play and squeaking out a 16-13 win at home to end the season is the exact opposite of what we need right now.
