  1. The key to a 4-3 LB in the NFL is first and foremost the ability to shed blocks. Every good college linebacker can hit and run, some take better angles and have better first steps, closing speed etc, but its how you handle nfl blockers that sets you apart. There is no roaming free in the NFL like there is in college, someone is always assigned you and its not some college chump its an NFL pro, sometimes with 70 pounds and 7 inches of arm length on you. Watch guys like Shep play, who were very good college players but struggle in the NFL because they get swallowed up and taken out of position far too often due to their inability to come off blockers and make plays. Not sure where Teo grades out here, I just hope whoever we pick at LB is good at it.
  2. Honestly I think Chan will be back next year and I'm OK with it. We lost today because we turned the ball over on half of our possessions and we couldn't protect our QB, who struggles with accuracy even with lots of time to throw. Spiller had over 25 touches and was utilized perfectly. Chan can't make the passes himself, he can't play linebacker and he can't pass protect at age 65. He works with what the GM gives him to work with.
  3. He will get another league suspension within the next twelve months. Bet on it. The trade was the best offer anyone in the entire NFL was willing to give us for the guy at the time we wanted to dump him. It wasn't like someone else was offering a 3rd or 2nd. The dude went for market value at the time. Oh well, our running attack since he left has been awesome. The strength of this team really.
  4. Exactly. Its a total joke that everyone has to wait until sunday night for the game. Saturday game earlier in the day would have MORE viewers. Kids can watch the whole game without being shot for school the next day. Workplace absenteeism would be non-existent (unless the Bills win it all, then I'll be out for a week baby) The NFL will eventually change it because it makes too much sense not to. Gotta wait a little while longer for some of the old owners to die off.
  5. Hey, I'll take it. Even though Ralph wasn't at the presser, he was the guy that had to agree to a Buffalo commitment that will continue after his death, and until now I wasn't sure he cared. He obviously does. A new stadium and a seven year guarantee is a great Christmas present. Sweet ! Thanks Ralphie.
  6. Led his team to 5 come from behind victories last season. Had a passer rating north of 100 this season. His last game I think he was 18 for 19 or something almost perfect like that. I've read that Zona front office has already been gushing about Alex and his potential blah blah blah. I think he will land there.
  7. Stevie is going to break 1000 yards for his third straight season. Someone is throwing him the ball properly once in awhile.
  8. The seahawks will trade Flynn either way. They're a cusp team that has a running qb, and we all know how long running qb's last in the NFL. They need to gamble on making a run next year, and teams will trade talent for Flynn's potential.
  9. I think Byrd might be one of those Nate Clements type situations where he will command a far higher price than is reasonable for us to pay. Levitre will be retained without being tagged I think. As far as coaching goes, as long as Nix is here, so is Chan. He's said it publicly, there will be no change. He wasn't kidding when he said it so I'm not sure why so many posters here think Chan will be gone. Buddy is an old school man of his word, he's shown that since he's been here. Frankly I'm not sure the worlds best NFL head coach of all time (whoever that may be) could break .500 with Fitz at the helm. (oops, didn't mean to start that convo. where's the ignore button....?)
  10. When Seattle did that fake punt at the Toronto game, they showed Nix on the sideline. It was the lowest point in his career in Buffalo and it was obvious from the look on his face he never wanted to go back to that ****ty baseball stadium ever again.
  11. all of our problems would be solved if we had an upper echelon QB all of it. look at how bad the patriots defense has been for years now. they're horrible. they don't have standout runners or even a great O-line anymore but a great qb makes them all look good. see what Luck and RG and Wilson and Peyton have done for their teams in ONE year? massive turnarounds in one draft pick, or one FA signing.
  12. I agree with you, but the fact that he isn't sharing anything with the fans about the team's future is lame and a classless move. The fans and even the non-fans who are taxpayers have a lot invested in this team. I can handle the team not being very good, I still enjoy watching games, but he's far too secretive and silent about the plans for such a huge community asset that I will never respect the guy or care when he croaks.
  13. Hey I understand every NFL receiver drops balls now and then. Some of them slump and drop multiple balls in the same game. TJ Graham took that to a new level today though, and embarassed Nix for burning a 3rd rounder (and a 7th to move up those few spots to get this chump). Maybe TJ runs a great 40, but his game speed is average and his hands are stone. He struggled in camp to pick up the playbook, cost us the NE game with that blown route, and on top of the fact that he dropped seemingly everything today, he ran probably the worst Go Route I've ever seen down the left sideline in man coverage. Fitz threw it as far as he could and the pass would have been right on the money if TJ knew how to run this route like a professional. He slowed down halfway into the route and started this amateur hand control battle with the corner and the pass dropped about 10 feet in front of him exactly where he should have been. For the 69th overall pick in last year's draft, I don't know boys. He's NOT a field stretcher or a great route runner or sure handed.. I'd rather see Easley in there, he can't be worse.
  14. Uh really ? This is a thread about running up the score. You don't believe there IS such a thing so why are you here. Go look up class and sportsmanship and start your own thread about the advantages of being an idiot. Anyway, after the game Carroll acknowledged the fake punt shouldn't have happened. "I feel bad about this," Carroll said. "It was part of our game plan, it was something I could have called off, and I didn't. It's unfortunate that it comes across like there's something wrong there. That's my fault, totally, for not stopping it from happening ... in the sense that it looked bad." He's a tough dude to figure out. He scored 58 on Zona last week too. Slippery Pete has a sort of Belichick feel to him, like he's a weasel inside but 'aw shucks' to your face.
  15. Good stat. This is the first thing that needs to be considered when talking about drafting a QB. You can't just go out and get one when the need arises. There are only a dozen or so very good NFL QB's in the WORLD right now, and even guys like Vince Young, Carson Palmer and Jamarcus Russel that were #1 overall picks still struggle in this league. I still can't believe Nix missed on Dalton, it was a huge break to have him sitting there in the second round. He took Aaron Williams instead. Now he's going to have pressure to draft a QB in the 20-100 overall range, and you see from BillsVet what our odds are there. About 1 in 8 chance that it pans out. I would trade my pick and a few more for Alex Smith or Flynn. Those to me are better odds. I think Alex's last game he was like 18 for 19 passing.
  16. Nope. Fred and CJ have 260 touches combined, Fitz has over 400 passes so far.
  17. Quote from the Minny Head Coach regarding Adrian Peterson: "We have a number we want to try to get him to by the end of every game which we think will help us be successful." He's referring to his runner Chan, not his QB Christian Ponder--who by the way has EXACTLY the same completion percentage as Fitz at 62%. Minny is dead last in the league in yards passing and are in a tougher division than ours but they're 7-6 right now from running the ball and playing defense. I wish Chan would get a number in his head for CJ and work his gameplan and play calling backwards from that number. I understand AP is a bigger stronger guy than Spiller, and i don't expect Chan to handoff 30 times a game but he needs to change his mindset by looking at some other squads that are built similarly to the Bills and see how they're doing it.
  18. I didn't call him a bust, I just said the dude is sucking badly out there and isn't making any plays. Which he wasn't. He was single covered by average OT's and getting handled. NOT ANY MORE BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Thank you. This is what tons of people don't seem to understand. It wasn't like there was someone else that we were about to sign but didn't have the money because of Mario. We signed the best two free agent DE's available to rush the QB. So it's Mario or nothing. Would you rather have him out there or not? People get freaked out about $100M like it's their money or like he's even going to play out his contract to half of that number. We weren't going after Flynn or any FA QB's, our focus was defense.
  20. so Bill is a great GM? You mean because of the Seymour trade that he did that his defense never recovered from or all the crappy drafts they've had. They are great because of ONE player, not the head coach/gm.
  21. Uh Kyle Williams anyone? CJ will probably sneak in behind Arian Foster and Ray Rice, Mario might make it on his name, but the only lock is Kyle. Its him and Seymour, Ngata and Wilfork
  22. Because we can't draft very well so us giving up a draft pick for someone that has a lot of time studying and preparing in the NFL, and has had some success on the field would put us ahead of the game. Would you trade GIlmore for the chance at having a top-notch qb? I would. Brady and Manning have shown that you don't need much supporting cast to win games in the NFL if your QB is a stud.
  23. I agree with the OP. Fitz had zero time all day and still had solid numbers. That last pick he was about to be sacked again which ends the game so he let it fly. I agree we need to draft one but the Rams loss was on Gailey not Fitz
  24. It seems like a lot of people have someone they "know" that works for the Bills, and inside information trickles down from time to time about the draft board, GM moves etc. I have one of those guys, and he swears that in the 2007 draft the Bills had Revis higher than Marshawn on their board but Ralph Wilson was insistent about getting a running back and Marv Levy did as he was told. Interestingly enough, the best RB, WR, CB, OT and Inside LB playing in the NFL today were all in the top 14 of that draft. Megatron, Adrian Peterson, Revis, Joe Thomas and Patrick Willis.
